Q: Can I install two 6×9 speakers on the deck that is used to hide the trunk in a 1993 Honda Civic hatchback?
I have a 1993 Honda civic DC hatchback and I would like to install two 6×9 speakers in my car. Since I do not have speakers in the rear, I would like to cut a hole in the thing used to hide the things you have in your trunk. It’s like a thin rear deck.
I was just wondering if it was enough solid and would not rattle. And if I can’t, where could I put them? I really want 4 speakers in my car.
Thank you
A: That’s a terrible idea. Speakers need a solid and rattle free baffle to mount to. Crutchfield lists 6 1/2″ speakers in the doors and 5 1/4″ speakers in the rear side panels as the factory sizes. If your Civic doesn’t have speakers in the rear side panels then there probably is a speaker hole behind each rear panel. You’d have to remove the panels and make the cutouts. You may also have to run the wire for each side or it may already be there. Don’t use 6″x9″ speakers. Use 5 1/4″ speakers in the rear in order to maintain the bass image up front. Using the bigger 6″x9″ will drag the image to the rear of the car. Good luck.
Q: where can i purchase new/used door pillar posts for my 1993 honda civic…?

A: I would try a wrecking yard, however, you may have to buy a body side.
Q: What other model years front bucket seat can replace my 1993 Honda Civic Si’s driver’s seat?
The piece of metal holding my driver’s seat to the piece bolted to the floor of my car broke and cannot be fixed. Seems easiest to replace the whole seat and I can probably find one at a junkyard. But I need to know which years can be used to replace it. And will other models’ seats work? The Si is the “3 door”.
A: Depending on exactly where it’s broken, you could just replace the seat rail; unless it’s actually the seat that’s broken. But any ‘92-’95 Civic seat will will fit perfectly. Sedan, Couple, hatchback; doesn’t matter.
Q: Can anyone help me out with my 1993 honda civic ex .why doesnt it start?
ok so heres the deal .. my civic was overheating and we changed the thermosat .. and didnt use the car for 1 week … so we were on out way on a long trip .. so 10 minutes into the trip the car starts to heat up a lot …. we put antifreeze in it … it went down … also we hooked up the fan directly to the battery so it would stay on .. cause we thought it wasnt turning on ..we traveled for another 5 min and the car started heating up again and we put more antifreeze in it and it went down for 10 min .. we did this for like 10 more times .. we decide to turn back like the 7th time … and on our way back we would repeatdly turn of the car and let it role so the car would cool down some .. so were getting of the express way and we turn the car off cause the car was overheating and the car wouldnt turn on again …. can anyone help me out … wat can it be…. ????
the motor is not locked up because it cranks up .. and we checked the spark plug wire and it got no spark .. it it the alternator the distrubitor .. or did i just completly fu**ed up the head and need to get a new head!
A: just by what you said about it ,it really does sound like you may have locked the engine up in it,when they get so hot they will lock up like this, and that sounds like what might have happened to it,basically though i think the engine may be toast,id have a good mechanic check it out,and see how much damage has been done to it,there will have to be some damage to it after all of that, good luck with it,i think your going to need it.
Q: Does the 1993 Honda Civic EX, with power locks, have remote entry?
I know it has power locks, but when I bought it used, there were no remotes associated with the keys. Thus, does it have the capacity to have remote locks, or would I need to install an entire system if I wanted remote-controlled entry?
A: only power door lock , you will have to add a system to control the door locks
Q: 1993 Honda Civic – Power loss problem! HELP!?
1993 Honda Civic.
Symptoms:
-Power loss when going uphill or when full throttled.
-Car won’t go past 75 anymore. Not enough power.
-Check engine light comes on during struggle.
-Car always starts 2nd try perfect, but never first unless warmed up.
-Bubbling sound when car is idling, like a bubbling liquid/backfire type sound.
-Very very low idle. Used to stall out but it hasn’t actually stalled out in the past 3 months, but VERY VERY LOW idle.
Please help me with any input on this power problem. It needs fixed asap! I’m not going to pay $80 for a honda dealer to tell me what’s wrong, and no I can’t take it to autozone, it’s obd1.
Possible problems that I thought it could be:
Radiator.
Fuel injectors.
Fuel pump.
Cat converter.
I don’t have enough money to just throw into all these things, so someone help me.
Edit:
-Spark plugs and wires just replaced.
-Fuel filter just replaced.
-Air filter just replaced.
-I have a chilton/haynes manual, i’ll look later how to pull the code.
A: One of my favorite fixes is using a can of B-12 Chemtool the mechanic in a can- If kept well tuned up this should clean the valves out of any build-up there might be
Q: Trouble starting 1993 Honda Civic DX?
My father owns a 1993 Honda Civic DX with 26,000 (yes that’s right) KM. He’s been recently having trouble with it starting. It appears to make a humming or buzzing sound and will not start. The problem will disappear later and starts fine. I suspected that the key and lock assembly was worn and suggested that he use his spare key. The problem remains.
A: car batteries usually last 5-7 years. based on that I imagine he’s due for the second or third battery replacement. the buzzing is probably the starter relay buzzing. The battery doesn’t have enought current flow to turn the starter motor and the only thing that it has power to operate is the relay so the relay is buzzing..
have the battery tested at an auto parts store. they’ll test it for free. The result will probably be that the battery needs to be recharged before testing. if that’s the case then the answer is that the car simply needs to be driven more to keep the battery charged (the battery is getting run down because the car is not generating enough surplus electricity to keep the battery charged because the car isn’t being driven long enough to replace the energy used to start it).
you can buy a ‘deep discharge’ RV battery as a solution if the battery tests bad. that type of battery is used for recreational vehicles and marine vehicles that sit for long periods without starting them. That would be my recommendation if the car isn’t used regularly
Obviously you’ll want to check for corrosion on the battery terminals and for loose cables and connections. Also, check the condition of the alternator belt and make sure its tight so that its fully charging when the engine is running.
I’m almost certain you’ll just find the battery is sulfated from chronic undercharging and that it will have to be replaced.
hope that helps
Q: I need mechanic help with my 1993 honda civic?
It started overheating recently right after 40 miles of continuous drive and when i pull over to check it the radiator water is BOILING hot! maybe is the fans that are not working or maybe the radiator is messed up, this is my daily driver and i refuse to use my weekend car to go to work for the simple reason that IT’S my weekend car, lol, can anyone help and maybe know what is wrong with it? i really appreciate all the help, thanks!
A: Radiator
Q: I have a 1993 honda civic with a 1.5 and I was wondering how much parts from a 1.6 I can put on my engine…
My motor is a d15b7 and I am thinking of using parts off of a d16 motor. I know parts will fit, but i dont know how much or what parts will fit. any and all help will be appreciated thanks.
A: Transmission, intake manifold (with fuel rail and injectors as well), sparkplug wires maybe, pistons should be.
You can’t swap much between them. Cam’s are different, valve cover is different, distributor, and valve train and other internals are different as well.

Q: Honda Civic Advice Please?
Can someone please tell me if $1800 for a 1993 Honda Civic DX with 99k miles on it and no leaks or visible problems was a good deal ? It looks like KBB is for barely $2400, so I took the offer.. Should I get the timing belt changed since it’s at it’s 100k mark ?
Lastly, I was told this is a “plain Jane” Honda Civic DX and that’s why the pickup is so slow. Is a auto trans 93 honda civic dx supposed to choke a bit at 25mph when it switches gears ? (Mild jerk) other than that, it feels great ?
What are some other basic things I should do now with my new used Honda that are fair priced ? (Like oil change)
Thank you
A: there really aren’t any product problems with the trans on that car so it is probably that the engine is a bit out of tune or that the motor mounts are broken and that’s why you have the jerk on shifts.
the timing belt should be changed if you don’t know when it was last changed. Back in those days the spec was for a timing belt every 60000 miles or 7 years. so you are due if you don’t know when it was last changed.
the one thing you really need to keep up on with that car is the valve adjustment. On that year, the valves are to be adjusted every 15,000 miles. There is no one adjustment that is more critical to engine performance and fuel economy than the valve adjustment.
spark plugs are cheap so you should have them changed. have them check the spark plug wires and cap and rotor when they do the valve adjustment and plugs. chances are that they could use replacement as well.
lastly, be sure the filters are changed. change the air and fuel filters as normal maintenance.
and make sure you have the brakes checked for safety. when they check the brakes, have a look at the undercarriage and check the suspension and exhaust as well as the steering.
check the quality of the coolant, oil and transmission fluid and change them if they are dirty or discolored. A low transmission oil could also cause the shift to hang on 1-2.
sounds like you got a good deal. take care of the car and it will last to 400k with no problems.
hope that helps

Q: Is the default Honda Civic 2002 battery a 12-volt system with negative ground?
I am trying to use my wife’s Honda Civic 2002 EX 4-door Sedan to jump start another car (my Chevy Lumina 1993). The Honda has the original Honda battery from the dealer. The Chevy Lumina manual states that the car you use to jump it must have “a 12-volt system with a negative ground”.
A: All the cars I know have a negative ground including Honda, Toyota, etc… if you want to be sure get a multi-meter and check
Q: I have a 1993 Honda civic dx A/T and having transmission problem?..how do you drain the transmission fluid?
At first i didnt have a radiator for about 4 months so the transmisson hoses were out n leaked…when i use to put it in gear it was like if it was in Nutural so i put 1 bottle of transmisson fluid and i ran it and it runs it just now it kinda slips nd feels like it has no power as it did before now i did only put 1 bottle of fluid and i’d like to know if any1 can help me n tell me how to drain the transmission fluid and how much bottles of transmission fluid does the transmission take?
A: You need another trans, no amount of fluid will help it. Sorry but it’s time to spend some cash for repairs.
