Q: What was the market value of a used 1993 Honda Civic in November of 2004?
Please provide the source where the info came from, and a URL if it’s a web source. Thanx!!!

A: You can find out the info at Kelley Blue Book. The website is: www.kbb.com

Q: Can I install two 6×9 speakers on the deck that is used to hide the trunk in a 1993 Honda Civic hatchback?
I have a 1993 Honda civic DC hatchback and I would like to install two 6×9 speakers in my car. Since I do not have speakers in the rear, I would like to cut a hole in the thing used to hide the things you have in your trunk. It’s like a thin rear deck.

I was just wondering if it was enough solid and would not rattle. And if I can’t, where could I put them? I really want 4 speakers in my car.

Thank you

A: That’s a terrible idea. Speakers need a solid and rattle free baffle to mount to. Crutchfield lists 6 1/2″ speakers in the doors and 5 1/4″ speakers in the rear side panels as the factory sizes. If your Civic doesn’t have speakers in the rear side panels then there probably is a speaker hole behind each rear panel. You’d have to remove the panels and make the cutouts. You may also have to run the wire for each side or it may already be there. Don’t use 6″x9″ speakers. Use 5 1/4″ speakers in the rear in order to maintain the bass image up front. Using the bigger 6″x9″ will drag the image to the rear of the car. Good luck.

Q: where can i purchase new/used door pillar posts for my 1993 honda civic…?
i have searched endlessly, and i’ve not been able to get any…please help..thanks
i have tried ebay..none to my avail

A: I would try a wrecking yard, however, you may have to buy a body side.

Q: What other model years front bucket seat can replace my 1993 Honda Civic Si’s driver’s seat?
The piece of metal holding my driver’s seat to the piece bolted to the floor of my car broke and cannot be fixed. Seems easiest to replace the whole seat and I can probably find one at a junkyard. But I need to know which years can be used to replace it. And will other models’ seats work? The Si is the “3 door”.

A: Depending on exactly where it’s broken, you could just replace the seat rail; unless it’s actually the seat that’s broken. But any ‘92-’95 Civic seat will will fit perfectly. Sedan, Couple, hatchback; doesn’t matter.

Q: Can anyone help me out with my 1993 honda civic ex .why doesnt it start?
ok so heres the deal .. my civic was overheating and we changed the thermosat .. and didnt use the car for 1 week … so we were on out way on a long trip .. so 10 minutes into the trip the car starts to heat up a lot …. we put antifreeze in it … it went down … also we hooked up the fan directly to the battery so it would stay on .. cause we thought it wasnt turning on ..we traveled for another 5 min and the car started heating up again and we put more antifreeze in it and it went down for 10 min .. we did this for like 10 more times .. we decide to turn back like the 7th time … and on our way back we would repeatdly turn of the car and let it role so the car would cool down some .. so were getting of the express way and we turn the car off cause the car was overheating and the car wouldnt turn on again …. can anyone help me out … wat can it be…. ????
the motor is not locked up because it cranks up .. and we checked the spark plug wire and it got no spark .. it it the alternator the distrubitor .. or did i just completly fu**ed up the head and need to get a new head!

A: just by what you said about it ,it really does sound like you may have locked the engine up in it,when they get so hot they will lock up like this, and that sounds like what might have happened to it,basically though i think the engine may be toast,id have a good mechanic check it out,and see how much damage has been done to it,there will have to be some damage to it after all of that, good luck with it,i think your going to need it.

Q: Does the 1993 Honda Civic EX, with power locks, have remote entry?
I know it has power locks, but when I bought it used, there were no remotes associated with the keys. Thus, does it have the capacity to have remote locks, or would I need to install an entire system if I wanted remote-controlled entry?

A: only power door lock , you will have to add a system to control the door locks

Q: 1993 Honda Civic – Power loss problem! HELP!?
1993 Honda Civic.

Symptoms:
-Power loss when going uphill or when full throttled.
-Car won’t go past 75 anymore. Not enough power.
-Check engine light comes on during struggle.
-Car always starts 2nd try perfect, but never first unless warmed up.
-Bubbling sound when car is idling, like a bubbling liquid/backfire type sound.
-Very very low idle. Used to stall out but it hasn’t actually stalled out in the past 3 months, but VERY VERY LOW idle.

Please help me with any input on this power problem. It needs fixed asap! I’m not going to pay $80 for a honda dealer to tell me what’s wrong, and no I can’t take it to autozone, it’s obd1.

Possible problems that I thought it could be:
Radiator.
Fuel injectors.
Fuel pump.
Cat converter.

I don’t have enough money to just throw into all these things, so someone help me.
Edit:
-Spark plugs and wires just replaced.
-Fuel filter just replaced.
-Air filter just replaced.
-I have a chilton/haynes manual, i’ll look later how to pull the code.

A: One of my favorite fixes is using a can of B-12 Chemtool the mechanic in a can- If kept well tuned up this should clean the valves out of any build-up there might be

Q: Trouble starting 1993 Honda Civic DX?
My father owns a 1993 Honda Civic DX with 26,000 (yes that’s right) KM. He’s been recently having trouble with it starting. It appears to make a humming or buzzing sound and will not start. The problem will disappear later and starts fine. I suspected that the key and lock assembly was worn and suggested that he use his spare key. The problem remains.

A: car batteries usually last 5-7 years. based on that I imagine he’s due for the second or third battery replacement. the buzzing is probably the starter relay buzzing. The battery doesn’t have enought current flow to turn the starter motor and the only thing that it has power to operate is the relay so the relay is buzzing..

have the battery tested at an auto parts store. they’ll test it for free. The result will probably be that the battery needs to be recharged before testing. if that’s the case then the answer is that the car simply needs to be driven more to keep the battery charged (the battery is getting run down because the car is not generating enough surplus electricity to keep the battery charged because the car isn’t being driven long enough to replace the energy used to start it).

you can buy a ‘deep discharge’ RV battery as a solution if the battery tests bad. that type of battery is used for recreational vehicles and marine vehicles that sit for long periods without starting them. That would be my recommendation if the car isn’t used regularly

Obviously you’ll want to check for corrosion on the battery terminals and for loose cables and connections. Also, check the condition of the alternator belt and make sure its tight so that its fully charging when the engine is running.

I’m almost certain you’ll just find the battery is sulfated from chronic undercharging and that it will have to be replaced.

hope that helps

Q: I need mechanic help with my 1993 honda civic?
It started overheating recently right after 40 miles of continuous drive and when i pull over to check it the radiator water is BOILING hot! maybe is the fans that are not working or maybe the radiator is messed up, this is my daily driver and i refuse to use my weekend car to go to work for the simple reason that IT’S my weekend car, lol, can anyone help and maybe know what is wrong with it? i really appreciate all the help, thanks!

A: Radiator

Q: I have a 1993 honda civic with a 1.5 and I was wondering how much parts from a 1.6 I can put on my engine…
My motor is a d15b7 and I am thinking of using parts off of a d16 motor. I know parts will fit, but i dont know how much or what parts will fit. any and all help will be appreciated thanks.

A: Transmission, intake manifold (with fuel rail and injectors as well), sparkplug wires maybe, pistons should be.

You can’t swap much between them. Cam’s are different, valve cover is different, distributor, and valve train and other internals are different as well.

-Chris

Q: Honda Civic Advice Please?
Can someone please tell me if $1800 for a 1993 Honda Civic DX with 99k miles on it and no leaks or visible problems was a good deal ? It looks like KBB is for barely $2400, so I took the offer.. Should I get the timing belt changed since it’s at it’s 100k mark ?

Lastly, I was told this is a “plain Jane” Honda Civic DX and that’s why the pickup is so slow. Is a auto trans 93 honda civic dx supposed to choke a bit at 25mph when it switches gears ? (Mild jerk) other than that, it feels great ?

What are some other basic things I should do now with my new used Honda that are fair priced ? (Like oil change)

Thank you

A: there really aren’t any product problems with the trans on that car so it is probably that the engine is a bit out of tune or that the motor mounts are broken and that’s why you have the jerk on shifts.

the timing belt should be changed if you don’t know when it was last changed. Back in those days the spec was for a timing belt every 60000 miles or 7 years. so you are due if you don’t know when it was last changed.

the one thing you really need to keep up on with that car is the valve adjustment. On that year, the valves are to be adjusted every 15,000 miles. There is no one adjustment that is more critical to engine performance and fuel economy than the valve adjustment.

spark plugs are cheap so you should have them changed. have them check the spark plug wires and cap and rotor when they do the valve adjustment and plugs. chances are that they could use replacement as well.

lastly, be sure the filters are changed. change the air and fuel filters as normal maintenance.

and make sure you have the brakes checked for safety. when they check the brakes, have a look at the undercarriage and check the suspension and exhaust as well as the steering.

check the quality of the coolant, oil and transmission fluid and change them if they are dirty or discolored. A low transmission oil could also cause the shift to hang on 1-2.

sounds like you got a good deal. take care of the car and it will last to 400k with no problems.

hope that helps

Q: WHY WOULD 93 HONDA CIVIC LEAK IN FLOOR Board after wash?
my daughter just bought a 1993 honda civic 2 door.
i love hondas and mine is a 96, but today she washed hers through the automatic car wash, she could hear water leaking into floor board!
not alot, but mats wet.
they had put a used windshield frame , rubber etc around the windshield.
but man said it had never leaked.
what can it be????

A: more than likely it’s the windshield leaking down behind the dash and onto the floor.

Q: what kind of oil do i need to put on my 1993 honda civic lx (173565)?

Q: Is the default Honda Civic 2002 battery a 12-volt system with negative ground?
I am trying to use my wife’s Honda Civic 2002 EX 4-door Sedan to jump start another car (my Chevy Lumina 1993). The Honda has the original Honda battery from the dealer. The Chevy Lumina manual states that the car you use to jump it must have “a 12-volt system with a negative ground”.

A: All the cars I know have a negative ground including Honda, Toyota, etc… if you want to be sure get a multi-meter and check

Q: I have a 1993 Honda civic dx A/T and having transmission problem?..how do you drain the transmission fluid?
At first i didnt have a radiator for about 4 months so the transmisson hoses were out n leaked…when i use to put it in gear it was like if it was in Nutural so i put 1 bottle of transmisson fluid and i ran it and it runs it just now it kinda slips nd feels like it has no power as it did before now i did only put 1 bottle of fluid and i’d like to know if any1 can help me n tell me how to drain the transmission fluid and how much bottles of transmission fluid does the transmission take?

A: You need another trans, no amount of fluid will help it. Sorry but it’s time to spend some cash for repairs.

Q: Does anybody have a 1993 Honda civic, Four door for Sale.?

Q: Should I buy a 1993 Honda Civic Hatchback?
I found a 1993 Honda Civic Hatchback for sale at $1700. It has 230,000 miles on it, but the owner claims it has been meticulously taken car of by replacing many parts under the hood that usually go bad after reaching such high mileage. I’m a college student that drives mostly on the highway and in need of a car with great gas mileage, which it has. And the exterior seems to be in okay shape for the year. He is asking $1700 but is willing to negotiate. Any advice on this would be appreciated. Thanks.

A: i managed to get a 93 civic sedan with only 55k on hte stock motor and trans, for only 2000. i love how people think their hondas are made of gold or something. keep looking you can find one with half the miles for maybe 2500 and the person willing to negotiate… just remeber no matter the asking price cash talks

Q: How Long Does A 1993 Honda Civic Last?
I saw this car for sale for $1,150. I suddenly got excited because thats pretty cheap. The problem is the milege is 210,000 miles. I don’t know how long Hondas run. I do know that they are reliable and cheap to fix. Should I just wait for another car?

A: thats alot of miles. but it all depends on if the car was maintained. a car that was well maintained will last forever, ask for records of any major work done on the car. if your not to good with cars ask someone more experienced to take a look with you.

1998 Honda Civic coupe, 5spd Manual tranny, manual everything, sohc engine, 120,xxx miles, and with some minor customizing/modification/aftermarket stuff.

All work was done by previous owner/s, except for the spoiler and the front and rear strut tower braces, which were done by me. my work is quality but previous owner/s i’m not impressed with. There is a gauge pod with 3 gauges and there is also an aftermarket tach. they were all hooked up when i bought the car, but only the tach and temp gauge worked properly. i don’t think the previous owner/s knew how to wire things properly because a couple of the gauges didn’t read right and also, how ever they had it wired, caused the car to go dead after a couple of days of sitting….. so i cut all of the wires that they had ran to all of the gauges and that fixed the dead battery problem!! lol. i haven’t had time to go through it all and rewire, so it will need redone IF you want them to be functional. I bought the car just to drive it and i wasn’t really concerned with all that extra stuff so it never bothered me. i bought the car for a daily summer time driver for some manual transmission shifting fun!
it will also need a new speedo gear…. somedays it will tell you your speed, other days, not…. lol. should be a cheap fix.
also, the bumpers and the spoiler have been painted (again, prev owners) with i’m guessing spray paint or painted but never clearcoated and buffed…. i’m not sure. those items look fine from a distance and look great at night, but would need resprayed to look really nice.

AFTERMARKET: front bumper, eyebrows, black/chrome rims with 2 matching spare rims, rear spoiler, modified trunk (which is illegal according to the nice policeman, which is why the license plate mounting looks funny – see pics), strut tower braces, cold air intake, muffler. Oh, i’m also running PULSTAR plugs in the engine and it runs GREAT. if you don’t know what those are, look them up… sweet technology.

The car runs and drives VERY nicely and i thoroughly enjoy cruising around in the summer with it…. but i’ve decided to move on from it and get back into Jeeps and 4×4’s. It just has a few minor “cosmetic” issues, but they do NOT affect the driveability/functionality of the car itself. Body condition overa

A: They all look pretty crap to me!

Q: Purchased a Car that came out to be stolen can i sue ?
On thursday morning i saw a ad on craigslist for a 1999 honda civic ex 5speed for $2000 firm … i call the guy and told him if you can bring it down to me and if it was in the conditions he stated it was i would pay him the $2000 .. he brang the car i test drove it .. i check the vin compared it to the vin on the panels and inspection stickers on the car .. everything matched up perfectly .. i had the title to the car i park the car in my driveway .. i go to geico .com to add the car to my policy to insure. the next morning i go to DMV in elizabeth nj to register and transfer the title to the car under my name . They tell me that the car has been reported stolen out of paterson nj ..I went crazy .. i tried calling the guy back he didnt answer my calls.. i went online and saw he had more add’s with the same phone number for motors transmissions doors parts to many cars for sale..so i went to the house of the person that was on the title he didnt live there anymore . a lady there gave me the phone number to the land lord of the property which knew the original and real owner of the honda civic..i talked to her and she said the car was stolen from paterson nj .. i told her i paid $1850 for it last night and that i had the title and everything .. So by this point i already knew that the guy that sold me the car was definitly not the owner.. So i called the guy that sold me the car under a different phone number posing as a new customer to purchase one of his motors and transmission he picked up quickly when he saw a new number! so i told him i would meet him with a flat bed or a mini van to pick up this motor… i went to paterson police spoke with the sergants and detectives and i explained to them that i had an arrangement to meet the seller of the car to get more parts .. i also expalined to them that i am in the sellers eyes a new buyer .. so we parked at the location that the guy wanted to meet .. the same 3 people that came to deliver the car when he originally sold it to me all showed up with him .. and the cops did a big surrounding around the car they were in a old 1993 beat up nissan pathfinder which turned out to be stolen aswell.. then the motor and transmission they intended to sell me was in the trunk of the car… they were all taken to paterson police.. the car i purchased got taken buy paterson police.. They are investigating why the original owner of the car would even leave his title in the car no one does.that .. i wanted to know if under the curcumstances.. can i sue the guys that sold me the car for fraud or what can i sue them for including the acomplices they had .. and what about the original titled owner of the car/? i am out of $1850 ..

A: yes, you can sue the guy who sold you the car. and don’t be surprised if the “real owner” is a party to a fraudulent insurance claim on the vehicle. Work with the cops on this one. It’s your best shot at getting your money back.

Q: i want to modify my honda civic 1993 for street racing also what parts should i get?
honda civic 1993 and i will spent 1000 euros

A: I know you want to go fast but there is a certain order of things you need to do. First is bringing the car back up to Stock specifications. That means making your car like new again. I know your thinking WHAT?! Trust me on this man. When you start upgrading your car for performance, and the rest of the car isn’t up to par there is a ripple effect. This ripple effect causes many things to happen. When you upgrade your performance you go faster, but when you go faster you must stop faster too. So now that you have to stop faster your stock brakes will not suffice. Your going to need front Acura Integra spindles they will bolt right on including brake lines. When brakes are upgraded you’ll notice alot of slop in your steering when you brake hard. The slop you will feel are your old worn out bushings. Do you see the ripple effect here? After you replace all your bushings you’ll notice that your suspension is crappy. After you replace your springs and struts, you’ll notice that your rims are tires need to be upgraded.

Listen man if you can grasp anything im talking about let it be this . . . For every action there is an opposite and equal reaction, even if your unaware of what that reaction may be. If you swap or upgrade your motor you will be unhappy with your car because it will be so unbalanced.

Coming from a tuner (myself) I started out with a stock 95 civic VX. I upgraded my interior, then brakes, followed by the suspension then bushings, then swapped out my motor. Anything less then a d15b (jdm VTI motor) or a d16z6 (usdm Si motor) isn’t worth upgrading. Any d series swap into your civic is plug and play. I also suggest you have a plan for upgrading your civic. Follow my outline or find another one similar.

All the good street racer cars are practically new. Ive basically rebuilt my entire car. I’ve only got the tranny left to rebuild as i have already rebuilt my d15b, and entire suspension. After the tranny rebuild im piecing together a turbo kit.

email me if you have any civic questions i’ll be glad to answer them. i_am_four_all@yahoo.com

Q: Can i install civic aftermarket parts on a 1993 Honda Del Sol?
would da parts be compatible on da dels sol engine?

A: Great question:
Most parts will be interchangeable. Specifically

Engine parts: Intake, header, Intake manifold, fuel rail, and injectors.

Exterior parts: Believe it or not the del sol and civic front lips interchange!

Driveline: Transmission same if both are d series (sohc). clutches, axles, & wheels.

Brakes: all the same or interchangeable.

Suspension: Struts, springs, swaybars, and strutbars.

Interior: Steering wheel, drivers aribag, seats, shiftknob, & shifter.

The parts that you have to know the specific model that won’t changeover unless they are the same: i.e. both sohc Vtec or both sohc non vtec models: cams, valve cover, ecu, and distributor.

Hope it helps,
KC

Q: How much does it cost to have (labor and parts) these things done to my 1993 Honda Civic:?
How much does it cost to have (labor and parts) these things done to my 1993 Honda Civic: Replace oil pan gasket; Replace head gasket; Replace cam seal; Replace piston rings; Replace thermostat and seal; Replace intake manifold gasket; Resurfaced cylinder head with valve adjustment.

Help. Need somewhat accurate estimate of what these 7 things should cost (labor and all). I was charged $1300 for all of it. From what I know, the mechanic was being very generous in this price. I’d like to give him a thank you card. But unsure if that’s “okay”.

Keep in mind, I did need the head gasket and head replaced/resurfaced because it blew. He mentioned I may want to do the rings as well. I said ok. After I got the bill for those three things, there were like 7 things listed that he (mechanic) did. I don’t think I was charged a lot… I think he did a lot of extra work for free. Like the thermostat? For all I knew it was fine. Help me understand what it all (these 7 things) should’ve costed.
One other thing… yeah, old car and high milage. $1300 lot to pay for old car repair; however, I had to. Not enough $ for car payments. (Sigh)

A: Oil pan gasket is about $20
Head gasket is about $50
Camshaft seal is about $7
Piston rings are about $80
Thermostat and seal is about $20
Intake manifold gasket is about $15

Parts alone costed him a total of about $192. Just look up these parts online at your local auto parts store. You paid him about $1108 for labor.

I would have only agreed to pay just $100 for the work of unbolting and rebolting these parts back together. Anyone with the tools can buy a honda civic service manual and follow disassembly/assembly instructions.

I think he overcharged you 4x than what would have been reasonable – but that’s business as usual for most mechanics.

Good luck!

Q: 1993 Honda civic owners,do you know where i could locate d16a9 engine parts for my four door sedan? ?

CA, NV, WA = www.honda-tech.com

Q: How to install an A/C in a 1993 Honda Civic Hatchback?
My boyfriend has a 1993 Honda Civic Hatchback that he loves, but there’s one problem – we live in Florida and the car has no A/C. It is starting to cool off now, so we are just fine with the windows down, but once summer comes, it will be unbearable. So, what is needed to install an A/C in his car? What parts does he need to buy?

Thanks for your help.

A: With a 15 year old car, it is unlikely that the cost of adding A/C would be lower than replacing the car with a newer, A/C equipped car.

If you’ve ever looked at new cars, you would have seen that options come in two varieties: manufacturer installed and dealer add ons. Some options (pin stripes, stereos and such) often pop up in both categories. Others, like A/C are never dealer installed because, if possible at all, adding them on after the car is built is simply too complicated an endeavor.

Adding A/C to a car is far more complicated than you seem to be expecting. Adding A/C to a house is usually a simple affair involving plopping an air conditioner in an available window and plugging it in. With a car, it’s very different. First, since the layout of engines varies so much from one car make/year to another, there’s no such thing as a “one size fits all”: you would need air conditioning made for that model/year of car. Since the condenser is powered by the engine, rather than the electrical system, it doesn’t just “plug in” either. Car A/C uses the vent system’s air ducts as well, so there’s that to consider. In all, if you can even get the parts, you are looking at several thousands of dollars to add a/c to a car.

Q: What kind of performance parts do I need for my ‘93 Honda Civic 4dr 1.5L SOHC?
I want to increase the performance of my SOHC 1.5L 1993 Honda Civic 4DR and if also body kits.

A: unelss you’re doing autocross where you need the additional downforce, body kits are for ricers and attention starved kids.
best bang for your buck? do an engine swap to either a d16z6 or d16y8 (if you want the ease of stayign within the same series of engine). almost a 30 HP gain just from switching engines (you can get either one for less than a grand used, including wiring harness and ECU.)
if you dont mind doing more work and swapping out a few more parts to make it work, you can get better bang for yoru buck by switching to a b18c1 (6-800 used in good condition)…its about a 70HP difference.
otherwise if you want to stick with your d15 theres 2 ways to go about making noticeable horsepower for it: NA or FI.
NA you’ll want to get high compression pistons, do the normal I/H/E (intake, headers, exhaust), lightweight pulleys, a port and polish, get more aggressive cams, and a tune. you wont see very good gains though even with all that work, maybe 25HP.
if you go FI then witht he d15 you’ll want to build your block: full ARP studs and bolts (the CR ratio on your engine is already fine and unless you’re pushing a lot of boost the stock honda pistons/rods/walls are strong enough), the turbo itself, and ofcourse a tune. i wouldnt try to break the 175 mark with your engine though unless you get rods/pistons/sleeves.

Q: I want to convert my 1993 honda civic LX from automatic to manual transmission?
how much would it cost for a mechanic to this? will i need to buy the parts my self first?

A: Not practical at all. Get another car.

Q: Which is the number 1 spark plug on my 1993 honda Civic. I have trouble starting it could it be the module?
The sparks plugs also have oil on them first time I have seen that in three changes since i’ve had it. Could it be that? Help anyone please. Keep buying different parts for it thinking it will solve my problem.

A: if your having trouble starting it when it sits in sun all day or after a short run then wont start it needs a f/i main relay. for oil around spark plugs change valve cover gasket and tube seals,it comes as a kit from most parts stores i dont think thats your no start problem but fix it anyway. honda tech 11yrs.

Q: 1993 honda civic hatchback. where can i find part on the internet.?
not ebay. just sites where its cheap to get accessories and body parts best answer gets 10 pionts.

A: If your looking for stock parts there is www.d-a-p.com and carparts.com. Don’t know if your looking for stock or aftermarket parts.

Q: What is the best auto parts store for ordering Honda Civic car parts?
Ihave a Japaneese spec. 1993 i want to do some modification. These parts are difficult to find and I also want it shipped to the Caribbean…so i need some help 10 pts!!!

A: Hey you might be interested I wrecked a 1995 civic & have a pair of Honda Civic SLR x1 fenders for $200.00, a Spydur Wing Soiler for $200.00 & TYC elegante power mirrows (pair) for $30.00. Q: I have a 1993 honda civic dx with a 1.5 ltr engine, when it gets hot out the car won’t start.?
My 1993 honda civic with a 1.5 ltr engine wont start when it is very warm out. I have had this problem for the last 5 years. I read someone else’s posting saying to hit the dashboard on the drivers side because the fuel pump relay is in there, but I have gone to other sites looking to buy that part and it turns out that the relay is actually built into the fuel pump from what I gather. What do I do? And is the fuel pump relay in the dash or the fuel tank with the fuel pump?

A: Should be mounted to the side of the metal frame in front of the drivers door a little into the dash. Here it is for 24.00 on ebay. Thats what it looks like also. If this doesn’t fix the problem, change your ECU. Any questions, e-mail me.

Q: i have a 1993 honda civic dx 1.5 i was wondering is there is any good site to get cheap part?

Good luck, and the link below is to the Ebay Motors automotive section…

Q: How Long Does A 1993 Honda Civic Last?
I saw this car for sale for $1,150. I suddenly got excited because thats pretty cheap. The problem is the milege is 210,000 miles. I don’t know how long Hondas run. I do know that they are reliable and cheap to fix. Should I just wait for another car?

A: thats alot of miles. but it all depends on if the car was maintained. a car that was well maintained will last forever, ask for records of any major work done on the car. if your not to good with cars ask someone more experienced to take a look with you.

Q: where can i find a cheap F20 motor for my 93 Honda Civic?
i have an 1993 honda civic ex with the stock d16z6 motor and tranny in it but im tired of not having the power and performance i want so im upgrading to an F20 and i want to bulid it up please help me figure out what i will need and where to get it for a resonable price

A: 666777 was partially right on this subject. If your looking to swap in a F20c, or F22c. However If your looking to swap in a F20B then it wouldn’t be any harder than a H22 swap. The H22 and the F20B are pretty much the same motor with few differences. The F20B engine came from the Accord SIR From the european market. They are a front wheel drive platform. Here is a link for a swap kit. Beware they are not cheap!! these engines are great for tuning.

Q: My 1993 Honda Civic has a bad left front bearing. How hard is it to take it out myself??
It is much cheaper to do take the front axel out myself and then have them press it. But I have never taken apart a front wheel drive car before. How hard it it? Any tips about this fix? How do I know when I need to get the wheel bearing fixed asap??
Thanks!

A: Here’s a page from a Repair Guide that shows the procedure, with pictures. Towards the bottom is for ‘88-’95 models. You can click on the pictures to enlarge.

http://www.autozone.com/az/cds/en_us/0900823d/80/14/23/c2/0900823d801423c2/repairInfoPages.htm

Once they start to get noisy, they can pretty much let go or seize up at any time, so best not to let it go too long. If they get real wobbly, it can also damage other parts.

Q: 93 Honda civic replacement body panels where do i get them?
Hi I have a blue 1993 Honda civic Ex 4 door and almost every single panel on the car is rusted out. I have done the googling but I find mostly stuff for a 2 door and its my back doors that are the worst. any ideas. Oh I am also a broke ass college student so preferably cheap would be good.

A: Ebay or salvage yards……..

Q: CAN I SWAP AN h22a4 OR AND H23 ENGINE OF A HONDA PRELUDE INTO MY 1993 CIVIC?
OK I HAVE A 1993 CIVIC AND I WANT TO SWAP A 1997 HONDA PRELUDE MOTOR AN h22a4 IS IT POSSIBLE? AND WILL MY CAR PASS EMISSIONS IN INDIANA WITH THE SWAP …. I HAVE HEARD YOU CANT SWAP A 2.2 MOTOR INTO THE PLACE OF A 1.6 MOTOR ?? DONT KNOW IF THAT IS TRUE ALSO WANT TO KNOW IF I COULD SWAP A 1993 HONDA PRELUDE MOTOR IF SO WHICH WOULD BE A BETTER AND OR CHEAPER SWAP?

A: Swap Info 5th gen 92-95 civic H22a H23a

Trans: All 92- up Prelude 5 speed trans and 92-up Accord trans. Trans with ATTS will require major wiring mods.

Mounts: Hasport mount kit M92- H22-10

ECU: Use ECI that came with the engine with proper mods to wiring. For 96-up engines either back date eletronics and use appropriate OBD1 ECU or use adapter harness and make proper wiring mods.

Electrical Differences: CX and VX need to convert to a 4 wire O2. Non-VTEC models need VTEC solenoid and VTEC pressure. Add EGR solenoid and EGR valve except for VX. All models modify stock harness to fit, add air intake by pass wiring, and add knock sensor.

Axles: Use 90- up Accord Intermediate shaft with 90-93 Integra axles. To use Prelude intermediate shaft a short left hand axle with a female inner joint must be used. To construct the proper left-hand axle use 94 GSR left-hand axle inner and outer joints on an 86-89 Integra axle shaft.

Shift Linkage: These trans use cables instead of linkage. The shifter mechanism and cables from these vehicles may be used, 90-up, Accord 5 speed or 92- up Prelude 5 speed cables and linkage. This will require some cutting and drilling.

Upper radiator hose: 90 Integra LS, trim to fit

Lower radiator hose: 94 Del SOL VTEC

Throttle Cable: 98 Prelude

Clutch Hydraulics: Stock

Special Instructions: THe mounting bracket on the right-hand frame will need to be removed or it will interfere with the shifter assembly. A thin fan or pusher fan will have to be used with radiator. Radiator should be upgraded to a Del SOL VTEC radiator for increased cooling.

Special Considerations: Suspension and brake upgrades a good idea. The H22A is 175 to 185lbs heavier than stock D-series drive trains and 85lbs heavier than a B16A drivetrain.

www.jdmsource.ca this is the best place to get a good motor/trans for cheap with shipping.

Hope this helps your decision!! Good Luck !

Q: What are some types of cheap reliable old cars?
I’m looking to buy an old car around $3000 for my first car. What are some reliable old cars? 1993 honda civic? 1991 mazda mx-3? Anyone that has a good knowledge of cars please help! Thanks!

A: civics, carolla’s, camrys basically the japanese cars are pretty reliable.

Q: Honda engine swap for a civiccc!?
Okay, so I picked up a 1993 Honda Civic LX for SUPER CHEAP, and I wanna go 250hp with it. It has the stock 102 hp motor or the stock 132hp motor, no clue, its a junkyard motor and I want it out of my car.

So what’s some good performance motors for the civics? I know H22A’s are common in prelude swaps, but would that work with the civic? Let me know.

Also – I don’t need your opinions on me buying the car, I just need you opinions on what motor will be best, I don’t need to be told I shouldn’t have bought the car.

Thanks guys!

A: If your going to go with the H22 look up the H2B conversion (B-series tranny on H block) Apparently it makes it a lot easier. I have only swapped in a B16 and it was very easy. I’ve heard swapping an H22 is harder. I would suggest throwing in a B18a or B18b out of an Integra (cheapest option) then turbo it. The H22 will give you quite a bit more power though. Don’t put a K20 in, it’ll end up costing you like $10k.

Q: Suzuki Sidekick 93 + Toyota corrolla or a Honda Civic 02 for a 17 year old new driver?
I need some financial advice.

What would be cheaper? Considering that this car is for a 17 year old.

Option 1:
Buy a 1993 Suzuki- Sidekick 4 door with 100k miles for 1,500
Then buy a Toyota Corolla for 5,000 when that car breaks down.

Consider:
The 17 yrs old is a first time driver which is why I am thinking of getting her a old car so the insurance won’t be too high.
Once the Suzuki breaks down her insurance would have lowered. Estimating that the Suzuki last 2-3 years.
The Corolla that I would buy her after the Suziki dies would be a used maybe around a 2005.

Option 2:
Buy a 2002 Honda Civic- 2 Door w/ 98k miles for 5,500.

Consider:
Insurance would be thought the roof because this would be a somewhat new car, 2 door, for a 17 year old new driver.
My math

[Suzuki Sidekick 1,500] + [Insurance 1,000 * 3(years)] = 4,500

[Toyota Corolla 5,000] + [Insurance 700* 5(years (thinking it would last another 5 yrs b/c it will already have 10 yrs))] = 8,500

13,000

[Civic 5,500] + [Insurance 2,000 * 3 (years)] + [Insurance 700 * 5] = 15,000

Consider:
I am estimating the insurance/ per year and the amount of time the cars will last- they will only be used to go to and from school.

What do you think which Option would save money?

A: You can call up your insurance agent and they can quote you what it would be for each car which might help make your decision easier.

I’m all for you people having to drive older cheap vehicles, unless they have saved up money to buy a car. It’s a big responsibility and they don’t always realize how big it is or the money involved.

But with that, make sure the car is very safe if they get in a wreck. Unfortunately the chances are pretty good and I wouldn’t want to put them in something that isn’t as safe as another option I was considering.

Q: cheap auto insurance in maryland ?

Q: What are the best used cars for under $2,000?
I’m looking into buying a used car in the near future, but my budget will most likely be less than $2,000. I’ve been researching cars on Craigslist, and here are some of the models that I’ve seen for under $2,000 – a lot of these cars have between 125,000 and 150,000 miles on them – and some have about 200,000:

1990-1992 Toyota Celica

1990-1993 Honda Civic

1994-1999 Fort Taurus

1994-2000 Chevrolet Cavalier

1994-1997 Saturn SL

There are also some other models out there, but these are pretty much what I’m looking at. There are a lot of Taurses out there, but I hear their trannies are really bad after 100,000 miles. Currently, I’m leaning toward the Toyota Celica – seems to be a little cheaper than the Honda Civics, but usually with less miles.

At any rate, any feedback and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

A: avoid any car with 200K

you’ll find all of these cars needing repairs or major overhauls in the near future or imediatley.

you better off spending more money say $4,000

for cars like these

98 Acura CL
98 Ford Mustang V6
98 Honda Accord or Civic
98 Nissan Frontier or Pathfinder
98 Subaru Impreza or Legacy
98-00 Toyota Corolla or Echo 00

you’ll save money in the long run

Q: wire harness?
were can i find a cheap engine wire harness for a JDM B16 v-tec for my 1993 honda civic? and the ECU?

Q: Who wants to buy a 1993 honda civic hb with b18 engine swap bored out to a 2.0?
The body on the car is in alright condition. No dents just scratches but not big and it doesnt even need a paint job. It is an engine swap with a 1996 acura integra gsr. The motor has only 400 miles on it and the body has about 180,000. The block is fully built with high compression wiseco pistons. Im running 11.5:1 compression. Nothing is wrong with the engine but there are a few things i suggest you do before you really start driving it. First off change the wiring harness, I have a skunk2 intake manifold so get that put on, and i have a walbro 255 fuel pump so get that put in too. You will be running all motor so your motor really needs that fuel its lacking. But overall its a very good car beautiful if you love hb and FAST AS HELL!!!!! It has a roll cage in it already so its ready to be raced. It needs carpet. The parts I said i have up top you will get plus a condenser. The price im selling the car for is $5500 negotiable. call me at 281-705-8698. any questions call or email me.

A: no selling on here – you are reported.

Q: Hi im just wondering if its worth it to buy a 1993 honda civic that has a blown head gaskett for 300?

Q: I just bought a 1993 Honda Civic Ex Coupe, and I have a problem with my heating system. It doesnt come on at al
Im thinking it may need a few fuses. But I dont have the diagram to show me what fuses go where. Can anybody help me?

A: heater coil probably went out

Q: Who wants to buy a 1993 civic hb?
Well i have a 1993 honda civic hatchback with an engine swap with an ls block and gsr head. I also have high compression pistons. So if you like all motor set-ups then this is the car for you. This car is blazing fast. The mechanic that built the motor built it to have about between 200-220 whp stock. I wouldnt doubt that it has it neither. I put in a cold air intake and after-market aluminum radiator. I also have a couple of other parts that i havent yet put in. I have a skunk2 intake manifold, walburo255 fuel pump, jdm converter, condenser, and an ecu with the speed limiter cut out. emai lme if anyone is interested in this deal and ill get more into detail. im asking $5000 negotiable.

Q: 1993 Honda Civic Not Running Past 40mph?
I just bought a 1993 Honda Civic from my uncle. It has a rebuilt engine and transmition it ran great till he got it towed home. It was a bad tow the guy didn’t do it right so while on top of the tow he hit the breaks and hit his tow truck after off loading it the car still ran but doesnt pass 40 mph what can be the problem? Like I said the engine and transmition is good.

A: the tow truck is liable for the damages they caused to the vehicle. I had this happen to me once and the tow truck owner’s insurance paid the damages. It sounds like the throttle linkage got damaged somehow in the tow. Also, have all the suspension components and alignment throughly checked since that is probably damaged too.

Q: How much do you think it would cost to buy and install a engine for a honda civic 1993?

A: This would depend on the engine in question.

To buy an engine in the D-series which the 93 DX, LX, CX, EX & Ferio MX had could cost about $700-$900.

To buy an engine in the B-series which the 93 SiR had could cost about $1700-$2000.

To go out of those ranges & put in a K20 or a H22 I suggest a Google search would yield the best results. I also suggest sites like
http://got-jdm.com &
http://passwordjdm.com
could help find the engine.

If you’re just looking to stick within the range of engines for this generation Civic these are the engines that were in them.
D15B7 (DX, LX)
D15B8 (CX)
D15Z1 (VX)
D16Z6 (EX, EX-V, Si)
B16A1 (SiR)
B16A2 (SiR, VTi)
btw sticking with 1 of these engines would be cheaper as you can use the same mounts, etc for them.

Q: I’m 21 i just bought a honda civic 1993 civic ex for 2,300 with 145,000 miles on it how long will it last me?
Did i get a good deal on it because the person had paint it over and it runs nice so far….

A: the looks of a honda is what makes it valuabe. if your car is full or rust and dents than yes you did get ripped off, BUT if its in good body shape and no rust i say its a great deal being the fact it has power windows, locks, sunroof and comes with the vtec engine. it should last you another 150,000 miles or more depending on how you drive, and the maintenance done to the car. i have had a honda of that year get to 250,000 miles which is really good. PLUS you save gas.

Q: I just bought a 1993 honda civic. When i try to shift in reverse slowly, tranny grinds a bit .is this normal?

A: Shouldn’t grind at all if you wait a second after putting the clutch in. Might just need a slight adjustment to the clutch cable to remedy this. Hope this helps.

Q: I want to know the features of 1993 honda civic DX sedan 4D. Does it have power steering. How much sould i pay
I m in US. I want to buy a 93 Honda Civic DX car. Would like to get a feedback, features and how much should I put for the car.

A: The DX year 93 should be for 1000 dollars
It has no AC unless installed aftermarket

Q: On a 1993 honda civic 4 cylinder what would cause the engine to shake with a tapping noise on a manual?
I bought a car from my brother in law a month ago. Yesterday I was driving the car and the engine would cut off in traffic and when I got it to a parking lot it cut off. When I turned the engine on it would only move a few inches and turn off. I looked online and it said check the oil. When I went to change the oil I found that there was no oil in the car plus it was a sludgy black. I put oil in it with a cleaner and the car was able to stay on permanently but the engine was shaking violently and it has a loud tapping noise. Some said it was the piston, and some said it was the lifter. ANY MECHANICS OUT THERE, HELP! PLEASE! I am trying to find out if it is worth keeping the car.

A: no way to tell without tearing the engine apart but i could safely say your engine is pretty well shot at this point

Q: Belt problem on honda civic !!?
I have a 1993 Honda Civic LX. The alternator belt broke off and I was going to put the new one on but I don’t know how to get the main belt off. It looks like a pain. Any help??? I’m also wanting to find a good belt diagram for the car and can’t find one online. Any help here to please???

A: there is a 12mm bolt next to alt that is to loosen and tighten tension, and one just adjust it to the driver side that locks the adjustment in place.loosen the side bolt and then the top. you might have to smack down on the allt to get it to slide down, and make sure you use a tool as to not damage the alt(wood on alt and hammer) make sure the pulleys involved with that belt are not frozen. this explaination is if the belts are on the pass side
if the belt side of the motor are on the drivers side, there is a 12mm bolt on top the alternator, and 14 mm on the bottom. lossen both and the alt should move. to tension it use a pry bar to hold tension and tighten the top to hold and then tighten the lower.

Q: How do I find a Mugen Engine for my………?
I want to find a Mugen Engine for my project car. I have a 1993 Honda Civic LX Sedan. Someone just gave it to me last week. I have a 2007 Honda Civic EX Sedan that I dont want to do anything to right now. I’m into fixing up cars and doing it the right way.
I’ve had 2 tuner show cars one of which won at NOPI…
Any thoughts on where I can find Mugene Motors online? New not used.

A: Mugen dosen’t build engines for market for retail sale, only parts. Finding a true mugen built engine would have to be a special order, evn then your looking at ALOT of money.
Dart and Spoon does though, you would be better buying a block and building it up and having it machined, it would be cheaper and you would get more out of it. If building isn’t your thing, I would lean towards going with spoon since they sell complete assemblies and not just blocks and heads.

Q: Honda Prelude Owners: What Do You Think?
My family has been looking around, on Craigslist, etc., for another car to drive. We came across a listing for a 1990 Honda prelude at a good price, and I’m definitely interested in at least looking into it. I looked up the specs online, however, and saw its gas mileage listed as 22 city, 27 highway. This sounds to me to be very low, coming from a manufacturer such as Honda, considering the 1993 Civic I used to drive got in the mid-thirties most of the time.

If you own a Prelude: What has your experience been with it in general? What do you like and dislike about driving it. Is the fuel economy really as poor compared to other Honda models? Please include year and trim, and whether it is manual or automatic transmission. Thanks.

A: I own a 96 Honda Prelude S, turbo, manual transmission. My car gets about 28 MPG city, around 32 highway, unless i hit boost, in which my air/fuel ration drops to around 11.3.
As far as the car your looking at, it could just be that particular car, theres many things you can do to improve gas mileage for little money.

Change the air filter, maybe add a cold air intake system.
Injector cleaner, fuel additives, etc.

Q: 4 wheel disc brake conversion…?
I have a 1993 Honda Civic DX coupe and want to swap in rear disc brakes from an Integra GSR I found online, but not quite sure how to go with the process of physically swapping it out. I’ll be doing all the labor, so could anyone direct me to a site/forum where this is described how to be done in a nutshell before I get started? Thanx!

A: Its really a very simple swap when converting you need the complete assembly with trailing arms (the big stamp steel that brakes/hub bolts to). If the trailing arm bushings are cracked on the new disc brake assembly right now would be the best time to replace them. You will need parking brake/e-brake cables for disc brake civic/integras. If you have the money replace the rear lower control arms (the bolts that hold the arms rust up and seize) and new brake lines you need the rears but if you get a set of 4 steel braided lines/hoses this will be the best time to do the fronts. You need the prop/proportioning valve for disc brake cars. Most also change the brake master cylinder to a larger diameter version.

The fronts bolt right up.

It takes most of the day but its well worth it if you have the money and time. Just remember to bleed the system well. Good luck.

Q: Allstate Insurance, something doesn’t seem right?
My dad is the primary driver, and he has 2 cars under his name and are also under my name. They are a 2008 Sienna, fully insured, and a 1993 Toyota Corolla which I drive.
I got into an accident around Feb. of 2009 and even before that, our insurance was over $4000 a year. After the accident, it’s still $4000.
I turned 19 three months ago.
I went to go get a quote of how much insurance would cost if I bought a 2009 Honda Civic Sedan, and it was an additional $3200, so over $7000 total a year.
Thing is, everyone online keeps telling me it’s the average price for people who own these vehicles and one of the drivers at my age. But thing is, owning a bigger car is less expensive to insure, correct? And all my friends who own a vehicle and are around the same age as me pay around $2000 a year for two or more cars.
One of my friends has his sister as a primary driver for his insurance, and he pays $2000 a year, he’s not even 19 yet AND drives a 2009 Honda Civic Sedan…
I still feel that there’s something wrong with this, why would my insurance cost more than half of what a brand new car be?
Any advice?

A: autoinsurance.noneto.com – check this one. As I remember they have lowest car insurance rates for teens and young drivers.
