Q: Should I buy a 1993 Honda Civic Hatchback?
I found a 1993 Honda Civic Hatchback for sale at $1700. It has 230,000 miles on it, but the owner claims it has been meticulously taken car of by replacing many parts under the hood that usually go bad after reaching such high mileage. I’m a college student that drives mostly on the highway and in need of a car with great gas mileage, which it has. And the exterior seems to be in okay shape for the year. He is asking $1700 but is willing to negotiate. Any advice on this would be appreciated. Thanks.

A: i managed to get a 93 civic sedan with only 55k on hte stock motor and trans, for only 2000. i love how people think their hondas are made of gold or something. keep looking you can find one with half the miles for maybe 2500 and the person willing to negotiate… just remeber no matter the asking price cash talks

Q: Who wants to buy a 1993 honda civic hb with b18 engine swap bored out to a 2.0?
The body on the car is in alright condition. No dents just scratches but not big and it doesnt even need a paint job. It is an engine swap with a 1996 acura integra gsr. The motor has only 400 miles on it and the body has about 180,000. The block is fully built with high compression wiseco pistons. Im running 11.5:1 compression. Nothing is wrong with the engine but there are a few things i suggest you do before you really start driving it. First off change the wiring harness, I have a skunk2 intake manifold so get that put on, and i have a walbro 255 fuel pump so get that put in too. You will be running all motor so your motor really needs that fuel its lacking. But overall its a very good car beautiful if you love hb and FAST AS HELL!!!!! It has a roll cage in it already so its ready to be raced. It needs carpet. The parts I said i have up top you will get plus a condenser. The price im selling the car for is $5500 negotiable. call me at 281-705-8698. any questions call or email me.

A: no selling on here – you are reported.

Q: Should I buy this 1993 Honda Civic?
I saw this car for sale for $1,150. I suddenly got excited because thats pretty cheap. The problem is the milege is 210,000 miles. I don’t know how long Hondas run. I do know that they are reliable and cheap to fix. Should I just wait for another car?

A: Attention:

This is among the generation model that was notorious for hit a lamppost/tree and split into two

You can buy anything safer

Q: Hi im just wondering if its worth it to buy a 1993 honda civic that has a blown head gaskett for 300?

A: it is if your planing to swap it….think of it this way….you could get it for 300 and put a new motor in it for around 200-500 and sell it for 2-3000…

Q: Who wants to buy a 1993 civic hb?
Well i have a 1993 honda civic hatchback with an engine swap with an ls block and gsr head. I also have high compression pistons. So if you like all motor set-ups then this is the car for you. This car is blazing fast. The mechanic that built the motor built it to have about between 200-220 whp stock. I wouldnt doubt that it has it neither. I put in a cold air intake and after-market aluminum radiator. I also have a couple of other parts that i havent yet put in. I have a skunk2 intake manifold, walburo255 fuel pump, jdm converter, condenser, and an ecu with the speed limiter cut out. emai lme if anyone is interested in this deal and ill get more into detail. im asking $5000 negotiable.

Q: 1993 Honda Civic Not Running Past 40mph?
I just bought a 1993 Honda Civic from my uncle. It has a rebuilt engine and transmition it ran great till he got it towed home. It was a bad tow the guy didn’t do it right so while on top of the tow he hit the breaks and hit his tow truck after off loading it the car still ran but doesnt pass 40 mph what can be the problem? Like I said the engine and transmition is good.

A: the tow truck is liable for the damages they caused to the vehicle. I had this happen to me once and the tow truck owner’s insurance paid the damages. It sounds like the throttle linkage got damaged somehow in the tow. Also, have all the suspension components and alignment throughly checked since that is probably damaged too.

Q: How much do you think it would cost to buy and install a engine for a honda civic 1993?

A: This would depend on the engine in question.

To buy an engine in the D-series which the 93 DX, LX, CX, EX & Ferio MX had could cost about $700-$900.

To buy an engine in the B-series which the 93 SiR had could cost about $1700-$2000.

To go out of those ranges & put in a K20 or a H22 I suggest a Google search would yield the best results. I also suggest sites like
http://got-jdm.com &
http://passwordjdm.com
could help find the engine.

If you’re just looking to stick within the range of engines for this generation Civic these are the engines that were in them.
D15B7 (DX, LX)
D15B8 (CX)
D15Z1 (VX)
D16Z6 (EX, EX-V, Si)
B16A1 (SiR)
B16A2 (SiR, VTi)
btw sticking with 1 of these engines would be cheaper as you can use the same mounts, etc for them.

Q: I’m 21 i just bought a honda civic 1993 civic ex for 2,300 with 145,000 miles on it how long will it last me?
Did i get a good deal on it because the person had paint it over and it runs nice so far….

A: the looks of a honda is what makes it valuabe. if your car is full or rust and dents than yes you did get ripped off, BUT if its in good body shape and no rust i say its a great deal being the fact it has power windows, locks, sunroof and comes with the vtec engine. it should last you another 150,000 miles or more depending on how you drive, and the maintenance done to the car. i have had a honda of that year get to 250,000 miles which is really good. PLUS you save gas.

Q: I just bought a 1993 honda civic. When i try to shift in reverse slowly, tranny grinds a bit .is this normal?

A: Shouldn’t grind at all if you wait a second after putting the clutch in. Might just need a slight adjustment to the clutch cable to remedy this. Hope this helps.

Q: How to install an A/C in a 1993 Honda Civic Hatchback?
My boyfriend has a 1993 Honda Civic Hatchback that he loves, but there’s one problem – we live in Florida and the car has no A/C. It is starting to cool off now, so we are just fine with the windows down, but once summer comes, it will be unbearable. So, what is needed to install an A/C in his car? What parts does he need to buy?

Thanks for your help.

A: With a 15 year old car, it is unlikely that the cost of adding A/C would be lower than replacing the car with a newer, A/C equipped car.

If you’ve ever looked at new cars, you would have seen that options come in two varieties: manufacturer installed and dealer add ons. Some options (pin stripes, stereos and such) often pop up in both categories. Others, like A/C are never dealer installed because, if possible at all, adding them on after the car is built is simply too complicated an endeavor.

Adding A/C to a car is far more complicated than you seem to be expecting. Adding A/C to a house is usually a simple affair involving plopping an air conditioner in an available window and plugging it in. With a car, it’s very different. First, since the layout of engines varies so much from one car make/year to another, there’s no such thing as a “one size fits all”: you would need air conditioning made for that model/year of car. Since the condenser is powered by the engine, rather than the electrical system, it doesn’t just “plug in” either. Car A/C uses the vent system’s air ducts as well, so there’s that to consider. In all, if you can even get the parts, you are looking at several thousands of dollars to add a/c to a car.

Q: WHY WOULD 93 HONDA CIVIC LEAK IN FLOOR Board after wash?
my daughter just bought a 1993 honda civic 2 door.
i love hondas and mine is a 96, but today she washed hers through the automatic car wash, she could hear water leaking into floor board!
not alot, but mats wet.
they had put a used windshield frame , rubber etc around the windshield.
but man said it had never leaked.
what can it be????

A: more than likely it’s the windshield leaking down behind the dash and onto the floor.
