Q: How high off the ground does a 1999 honda civic have to be to clear railroad tracks?
I want to trick out a 1999 honda civic ex but the law states that it has to pass over railroad tracks.

A: There is no standard, it varies by state. Usually it is between 9″-12″. Railroad crossings vary in height from level with the road anywhere up to a 30 and 45 degree angles (nasty for low-riders and semis). Most crossings that are steep or impassable for low riding vehicles have appropriate warning signs (with a picture of a truck being “cut” over the crossing).

Q: is it possible to swap a 1990 acura integra engine on a 1999 honda civic ex?
I have a 1990 acura integra dual cam engine, is it possible for me to swap it in my honda civic 1999 ex? and whats the price range? would it be worth it?

A: you dont really want to swap a 1990 b18a into a 1999 civic….first things your gonna have to convert the obd 0 motor into a obd2b….second thing is that the b18a is slow….and only gives the same amount of horse power as your stock single came d16y8….third thing is that if your gonna do a b18 swap…make it a b18c (gsr/type r) or if not…atleast a b18b where you have 10 more horses then the b18a…..and wouldnt have to convert the harness or the motor mounts and brackets….

the price range of this type of swap varies from person to person due to hook ups and knowledge of what their doing…also on what parts that theyre putting on….but just to say that this swap is anywhere from 700 to 3000 dollars to do….

Q: What performance exhaust would be the best for my Honda Civic Hatchback 1999?
My son asked for a birthday present and this is what he asked for only i don’t know what would be the best for what he is looking to do to his car. Its a 1999 Honda Civic DX hatchback. He is looking for a cat-back exhaust system that both sounds and looks nice on his car. Any suggestions on brands types etc let me know because the sooner the better! Thanks
~Dave

A: Well as far as i know the best exhaust system out today for honda civics is the DC Sports performance exhaust systems..
So i would probably recommend this one : http://www.slickcar.com/productdetails.asp?ProductID=2963
I would also look in to DC Sports headers and an intake system i have the AEM V2 on my honda it is incredible it added a couple of horses and got me better mpg, they are also both very good.
Hope this helped.

Q: Average cost of installing coilovers and struts on 1999 Honda Civic?
I plan on buying some Skunk2 Pro Series coilovers for my 1999 Honda Civic ex. I was wondering what would be the average cost for installation. If I planned on doing it myself, what would I need?

A: I believe you would need a spring compressor, a jack set, and some socket wrenches/basic tools. The spring compressor and other specialized tools can be obtained through Autozone’s “loan-a-tool” program for free (just bring them back and collect your deposit). You would have to buy a jack set. Its a pretty tough job (which is why I haven’t done it yet). Just know that you will have to adjust your camber, toe, etc to compensate, so you’ll need 4 wheel adjustment done by a pro anyway. If you need to know how much installation would cost, just call around. Good luck!

EDIT: Francisco, the poster’s independent use of the terms “coilovers” and “struts” led me to believe that he wanted to replace the springs and struts seperately (in which case, you WOULD need a spring compressor). If he indeed meant coilovers, then yes, the job would be pretty easy, as everything would arrive assembled. Better? Oh and one more thing, Francisco, did you get a wheel alignment after lowering your car yourself? If not, your tires are probably getting all screwed up.

Q: Is it bad to put a acura engine in a 1999 honda civic?
I am looking at a 1999 Honda civic, and the man that owns it has put a Acura engine in it. Is that a bad thing?

A: depends what it is
we need to know the original civic engine, the type of acura swap it is, and the transmission

ill check back…

k and to correct the person after me, it might not be ok because if the acura engine is more powerful than the civic can handle, the transmission will have frequent problems because of the drastic difference on how it performs. and im a girl. BITE ME

Q: Is there a way to legally convert the headlights in a 1999 honda civic to HID Xenons?
the 1999 honda civic has large headlight housing units. This was specifically designed to accomodate halogen bulbs. However if you were to put in a HID Conversion kit, you will get a really bright light output that blinds oncoming cars. And this is illegal. Is there any way to put HID Xenon arc bulbs in a 1999 honda civic without breaking the law?

A: Get projectors out of a car that came with HIDS. Then you retrofit them.. Examples are newer BMW’s Acuras then you just gotta make sure the cutoff line is correct. Balance them off on a wall. Most repair shops should be able to do it.. Kits are on ebay also.

Q: What is the main difference between a 1999 Honda Civic HX as compared to the LX strictly in terms of looks?
This is a silly question but – I am buying a 1999 Honda Civic (since i got a new job and i gotta drive 80 miles each day, this would be perfect in terms of gas – i drive a Jeep!) anyways, here is my question – i noticed that the car looks “small” compared to other Honda Civics! I am not sure wheather its me or its a fact that there IS a difference in looks between the Honda Civic HX as compared to LX?

A: LX is a 4 door and HX is a 2 door.

Q: What is the fastest engine i can swap for my 1999 honda civic ex?
my engine now has 133000 and i want to put the fastest that will fit in my 1999 honda civic ex sedan

A: depends on your budget, some people swap B16’s / B18’s others choose the newer more powerful K20 motor, some even swap the J32 from the Acura TL type S, it really depends on your budget, but as stated previously the Corvette Engine in the Civic would be the fastest, but besides that i would say either the K20 tuned.

Q: How to prep bumpers for paint on my 1999 Honda Civic?
I have a 1999 Honda Civic DX Coupe. I was involved in a minor fender bender where I was hit from behind. The rear bumper paint is now flaking off and needs to be repainted, but no other physical damage. The front bumper has a golf ball sized hole punched through the middle of it from where I was rear-ended into a truck with a tow hitch.
My question:
What materials and tools (specifically) and type of sandpaper will I need to sand off the old paint and to prep/primer them both and get them ready for paint. I’d like to do the prepwork myself so I can save some money. Plus I’ve always wanted to make an attempt at body repair. Thanks in advance.

A: TOOLS a RANDOM ORBITAL or JITTERBUG sander either electric or air powered you should be able to rent one at a local rental store along with a COMPRESSED AIR SUPPLY for the sander if you use a air powered one,you will also need a FLEXABLE BUMPER REPAIR KIT you can get one at most any BODY SHOP SUPPLY STORE it’s a TWO (2) part product that you mix together and apply to the bumper and AND ALLOW IT TO DRY COMPLETLEY BEFORE DOING ANYTHING ELSE ON THE BUMPER. You will need to plug the hole in the bumper where the trailer hitch went through with a piece of plastic or anything flexable cardboard, overcooked pancakes whatever, after everything is dry pick up a assortment of sandpapers from 80 grit -150 grit and working from the 80 grit to the 150 grit smooth the repair area untill you are satisfied with the smoothness then apply a skim coat of LIGHTWEIGHT BODY FILLER or FINNISHING PUTTY like evercoat brand they are both two part mixtures that use a hardner/catalyst to make it permanent and finnish sanding the entire bumper with 220 grit sandpaper by hand DO NOT USE THE SANDER allowing the paper to follow the curves of the bumper cover untill everything is smooth and level, then apply a series of light coats of a flexable primer allowing drying time inbetween coats then when the primer is TOTALLY DRY OVERNIGHT AT THE VERY LEAST apply the color coat in multiple light coats AGAIN ALLOWING AMPLE DRYING TIMES BETWEEN COATS and after everything is dry OVERNIGHT AT LEAST AGAIN apply a couple of light coats of clear gloss to seal the color coat in YOU SHOULD USE A SPRAY GUN to PRIME, PAINT AND CLEAR WITH A FLEXABLE ADDITIVE OTHERWISE THE FINAL FINISH WILL BECOME RIGID AND MOST LIKLEY CRACK,FLAKE and peel off from EVEN THE SLIGHTEST CONTACT AGAINST THE BUMPER,they make airless electric spray guns that will work just fine and REMEMBER TO CLEAN THE ENTIRE GUN BETWEEN the PRIMER the COLOR and the CLEAR AND MAKE SURE YOU STRAIN EACH SUBSTANCE AS YOU POUR IT INTO THE GUN TO GET ANY DIRT OR JUNK FLOATING IN IT OUT the paint/body shop supply store should give you some strainers for free and they will be the best place to get advice on mixing the primer/paint/clear with the thinner and on spraying technique. ONE MORE THING IF YOUR BUMPERS ARE A GRAINY BLACK OR A COLOR DIFFERENT THAN THE COLOR OF THE REST OF THE CAR THEN YOU HAVE TEXTURED BUMPERS AND WILL NEED TO BUY A TEXTURISED PAINT TO DUPLICATE THE CORRECT COLOR AND FINISH.

Q: how do i make my 1999 honda civic ex faster?
hi, i have a 1999 honda civic ex. it has 135,000 miles on it. im trying to make it faster but i dont want an engine swap cause the cost is rediculous. what can i do to make it faster without ruining the engine or transmisson?

A: start at the ends and work your way in:
mandrel bent exhaust system but dont go over the top, can make it SLOWER (no loud grapefruit shooter mufflers)
Cold air intake
4-2-1 DC Sports or similar header
send your injectors out for cleaning

These steps are the most cost effect and easiest. Should get you about 15 more HP and a couple mpg at the same time.

Q: What will a K&N air filter do to a 1999 Honda Civic ex?
I have heard that K&N air filters improve both HP and gas mileage. If so, what would a K&N air filter do to a 1999 Honda civic ex? How much horsepower and how much mpg would increase?

A: Just an air filter will improve the cars ability to breath. Reality is, there won’t be an increase in performance from an air filter. If you want a slight increase in performance buy a Cold Air Intake or Short-ram Intake, they won’t give a big noticeable difference but even the hp and improved mpg that they do add is worth the price of one.

Q: what do I need to put stage 3 cams in a 1999 honda civic?
I want to put some stage 3 cams in a stock 1999 honda civic ex what parts do I need for that and is it worth doing?

A: its worth it if its the B16A2 engine, D14/15/16 yes do it but you won’t get near the same level of performance as with a B16.

Stage 3 camshafts are very agressive, you would need to upgrade your valvetrain first particually if you have VTEC, adding better, stiffer, valve springs and higher lift valves. the standard valves wouldn’t cope with stage 3 cams for very long, an upgraded exhaust and intake manifold/system is needed to get the most of cams also.

put simply stage 3 cams are designed for purpose race-built engines, that have high rev capabilities, stage 3 would be WAY too agressive for a standard engine. compression and engine flow must be increased and significant engine work would need to be done to run them properly, and they would
NEED to be tuned in properly — seriously don’t want your valves hitting your pistons etc!

it would be worth it with a long term project, people have pushed 500bhp out of civic’s — but thats after ALOT of money spent…don’t get stage 3 cams on a stock motor….

Q: How much is a 1999 honda civic gx?
I found a 1999 civic gx (natural gas) with 89k miles. How do I find out what this car is worth-how much I should be pay for it ?
I found a 1999 civic gx (natural gas) with 89k miles. How do I find out what this car is worth-how much I should be pay for it ?

A: go to kbb.com……..

Q: How to install aftermarket stero in a 1999 Honda Civic LX?
I need to put a new stereo into my wife’s 1999 Honda Civic LX.
The guy at best buy said it would be like almost $200 because of the cost of the labor, wireharness, and an adapter because the keyless entry is wired through the radio. But I though the keyless entry was only wired to the radio up to the 98 models and the 99s were different. any help? maybe instructions? where can I buy a wire harness? how much $$ you want to install it for me? (i am totaly busy.. or just lazy… or car-inept. a little of everything.)

A: You may find the harness here http://www.metraonline.com

If the special harnes is used, you may need to keep the stock HU inside the dash.

Q: Should I get a Cold Air Intake or Short Ram Intake for my 1999 Honda Civic?
Would a Cold Air Intake or a Short Ram Intake provide more horsepower for a 1999 Honda Civic DX? Would one provide better gas mileage than another?

A: the short ram sucks the same amount of air as the cold air intake system the only difference is the temp of the air now the cold air system is further from the engine so its colder air BUT it is usually closer to the ground so if the road it wet your engine can inhale some water ……..so the power to risk ratio says go short ram intake id go with apexi ive seen different brands all dyno tested and for my 89 supra the apexi came out on top and gave me a 14hp gain with the short ram also small increase in mpg but not that noticable

Q: How much is the average price of a Honda Civic 1999 – 2000?
I’m here n the Philippines and I was thinkng of buying a used 1999-2000 Honda Civic (SiR body). What would be the average price and which is cheaper in maintaining: Manual or automatic tranny?

A: About 10 minutes of looking it up on the internet, and researching the price for yourself, instead of expecting people to do your work for you.

Q: What is the best model for a used Honda Civic?
I am interested in getting a Honda Civic coupe. I was wondering what is the best model and year for the honda civic? I want it to be used since this is my first car. I was thinking about getting a 1999-2005 civic.

A: man i would tell you the Em1 or Ek’s parts are cheaper , if your wanting to modify is also cheaper then the Ep3’s and the F’s .. i would recommend an Em1 (Si) , hard to find but if you cant find you you can always go with an ek (lx)..as what year you choose comes the pros and cons, pros–cheaper parts , easier work, cheaper labor, cons, attracts more attentions to thieves , easier to steal if a good alarm system is not invested on it, there is so many things you wanna consider. i own an Em1 thats street tuned, and very well taken care of and its theft proof :) .. you can take it as far as you want

Q: what kind of gas does a 1999 honda civic si use?
im thinking about getting a 99 honda civic si with a dohc vtec engine in it and i was wondering what type of gas i would have to pump in it (unleaded, premium , or high test)
thanks for the help

A: 87 octane
and no higher octane does not burn cleaner unless your engine has the compression to burn it. It can actually carbon up the valves because you don’t have enough heat to use the higher octane. With 10.2-1 compression 87 octane is just fine unless your racing it.

Q: Cramped feeling in honda civic 1999; today i was looking to buy a used car?
and i took this civic for a test drive but before i even started driving, it felt realy cramped, confined and restricted, it made me wonder how civics are so popular and feel so uncomfortable

am i missin something here ? are newer models of civic more spacious

A: they are sporty… the 1999s are supposed to be for young drivers. Look at the accord, altima, sentra, and camry, they are spacious

Q: Where to buy used engine for honda civic?
Where can I buy cheap engine in Georgia or any websites?
I have a 1999 honda civic coupe
and what is the rebuilt engine ? and how much it will cost?
Please let me know :)

A: At the closest used auto prats place to you, aka junk yard…borrow or rent a pickup, it is cheaper than freight charges

Q: whats a good used car milage for a honda civic 1999-2000 to buy?

A: Anything more than zero miles is too many! Buy a ford and never look back. There is a reason ford did not need government help.

Q: I took my 1999 Honda civic ex 4 door for transmission service.?
The mechanic tells me there is no filter and that all we do is change fluids. Is this true or I got screwed???
He charged me $50.00 for it. Said he uses Honda fluids only.

A: no filter on manual transmission 50 it te average mechanics charge

Q: Best car for first-Honda civic?
I am 15 and I’m going to work all summer and until next year sometime, (i turn 16 in December), and I am saving strictly for a car. I’m going to open a savings account and start saving as soon as I get the job I am supposed to be getting. 55-75% or more of my checks are going in the bank towards the car.

I was thinking about getting a 1999 Honda Civic as my first. It’s reliable, looks nice, safe, good on gas. The list goes on..

I know it’s hard to really tell the actual price of one, but does this seem nice and decent?

http://www.edmunds.com/used/1999/honda/civic/3991/options.html?tmvaction=vdpresult

I was thinking I should save somewhere between 2500-5500. What do you think is best?

A: The Toyota Echo or the Honda Civic would be good choices. I would prefer the Toyota Echo. For auto reliability comparisons, see the link below.

Q: used front bumper cover for 99 honda civic?
I am looking for a used front bumper cover for 1999 honda civic..color = Iced Teal Pearl. I wana get mine replaced..
I am in seattle..pls suggest

A: Cant suggest anything more than the auto salvage yards in your area.
Or if new is an option try ROCKAUTO.COM
but you’ll have to get someone to paint it.

Q: 1999 Honda Civic Coupe 3M Tape Window Visor Installation?
i just bought some window visors/ deflectors for my 1999 honda civic coupe. and they use the 3m tape. i was wonderng how do i install these. do i just simply tape the visors to the top of the window or do i somehow stick it into the rubber parts. or how else do i install and also have it installed stable using the 3m tape that was provided. thanks

A: If the 3M tape is the double-sided adhesive tape you need to attach the wind deflectors directly to metal. Be sure to remove any wax and dirt from the metal that you are attaching it to by wiping the area that you are applying the tape to with isoprophyl alcohol. If the tape came with the air deflectors then it should be sufficient to hold them in place.

Q: What kind of battery do I need for a 1999 Honda Civic?
I bought the car used. The original battery is in the car, and it won’t charge fully after being jumped. I don’t want to spend an arm and a leg for a bettery either, I’m a college student. I just need details on exactly what I need to buy and where it can be found. Thank you!

A: 51 SERIES BATTERY. OR 31500-SR1-100M IS THE HONDA OEM PART NUMBER.

Q: How do I install new Pioneer speakers into the front doors of a 1999 Honda Civic?
I would appreciate any assistance. I would like to know if I need a kit, such as the one that I used for the installation of my stereo, or whether I can just attach the copper wires directly to the speaker. There doesn’t seem to be a mark on the wires that were attached to the stock speakers which would specify which wire is positive and which wire is negative. Hope I’m being specific enough.

A: I’m assuming that you’ve already got the speaker grills/door card off because you’re describing the wires, so I’ll skip that part. As for testing which wire is which you’ll need a battery 9V or AA. remove the stock speaker and cut the wiring a little ways from the plug. Strip the wiring back and connect one wire to the + and the other to the – on the battery. If the cone goes out then you’ve got the wires on the correct polarity. All you have to do now is connect the new speaker to the wires in your door that match the ones you just tested.

Q: 1999 Honda civic skunk 2 camshaft? well it work? help please!?
Hi I recently acquired a Skunk 2 stage 1 camshaft at a good price from someone and it’s for a 1992-1995 EX sohc vtec D16Z6 it says on the skunk2 paper work it came with. He said he had it in his 2000 EX, I was wondering if I could use it in my 1999 Honda civic ex. my 99 has a D16y8 sohc vtec also and it’s still a D-series the only difference between the two engines is the compression and hp.
Any help is greatly appreciated…10 points to best answer!

A: yes i do believe you could put d16z6 cam gears onto a d16y8,
just the keyway position is different (i think) the Z6 lines up with TDC where as the Y8 would be have to be a few degrees retarded.

Q: Used Honda Accord or Civic?
Which would be better? It’s either a 2000 Honda Civic with 103,000 miles or a 1999 Honda Accord with 149,000 miles

A: i’ve had a civic personally and like all honda’s they will run for ever. it depends for more practicality then go with the accord. bigger with more room. i personally love my civic its reliable. its fuel efficient and had great build quality. The civic is a car that can be fun to drive at any time. there is a reason its the best selling car in Canada!

Q: my car honda civic lx 1999 poor performance when AC is on?
I have a problem with my car honda civic lx 1999, if i don’t use my Airconditioned it gives me best performance, but whenever i turned it on, it lower the speed. my AC compressor is still good. what is the possible problem? please help if you experienced this problem.

A: When your AC is turned on, your compressor is turned on which adds to the load of spinning belts that power your compressor, alternator , and power steering against your crankshaft pulley. When more resistance is applied to your crankshaft pulley, your engine speed is reduced.

If your car is already running above 3000 RPM, there’s no problem. But if you’re only running at about 650 RPM, this could be enough to slow down your engine to the point of experiencing vibrations or stalling.

Generally, your computer would know to automatically increase your car’s RPM to prevent vibrations or stalling the minute you turn on your AC, but if your Idle Air Control Valve (IAC) is faulty or dirty, even your computer cannot help sustain good performance.

Inspect your IAC valve, particularly the screen for any carbon deposits or debri blocking the airway. If any, clean it out with carburetor cleaner. There are 2 bolts that hold the IAC valve against your intake manifold in the rear.

Good luck!

Q: For Sale.. 99 honda Civic Ex Coupe…??
I’m trying to sell my honda but not really sure what a good price is. I looked on Kelly Blue Book and these are the prices they gave me.

Excellent: $5,995
Good: $5,455
Fair: $4,760

Its a 1999 Honda Civic Ex Coupe with 112,500 miles. In really good condition. I’ve had it for 2 years. The only problem I had was when I 1st bought it, I had to fix something to do with a “slave drive/cylinder”(???). I duno if thats what its called. but I got that fixed and haven’t had any problems since. It’s been well maintained and kept up. No major blemishes or anything like that. Only a few scratches but they could probably be buffed out. Overall it’s a really good dependable car. Gas mileage isn’t bad either!

So how much would u pay for it?? Are the prices they gave me realistic or no?? (1st time seller)

A: That many miles is nothing, Hondas routinely go 250,000 and more.
My ‘85 Honda has well over 200,000 miles and still doesnt burn oil, runs fantastic.
I just paid $4000.00 for a ‘95 Accord and that was after looking at a lot of cars.
Watch your local papers, see what they are advertised for.
I dont think $5,200.00 would be too much to ask, and plan on coming down a bit, nobody pays asking price for a car so set your price a bit high LOL.
The slave cylinder has to do with the clutch actuating mechanism, no big deal there.
p.s., ummmm Hondas ARE made in America unless they closed their plants.
Good Luck!

Q: how much would u expect to pay for this car?
This is a great car. Great Condition, very low mileage!!! 1999 Black Honda Civic EX four door sedan. Clean, one owner, NON-SMOKER. It has a power moon roof, auto trans., power windows, doors, cd player, alarm system, remote car starter and auto trunk release. The best part is it has only 57,500 miles!!!!!
it’s for sale in the NYC metro area

they’re asking 8000 n i offered 7600 – how’s this price?
it’s a 99 but the miles are low. The car is really clean although it’s older than I would like… what do u think?

A: i say get it..

8 grand is a cheap price for that honda..
and it seems like thers alot to it..

but check carfax to make sure tht the title is clean..
u dont wanna buy a car that has been in a big accident..
trust me..

but if no accident or anything…get it..
good deal :)

Q: Purchased a Car that came out to be stolen can i sue ?
On thursday morning i saw a ad on craigslist for a 1999 honda civic ex 5speed for $2000 firm … i call the guy and told him if you can bring it down to me and if it was in the conditions he stated it was i would pay him the $2000 .. he brang the car i test drove it .. i check the vin compared it to the vin on the panels and inspection stickers on the car .. everything matched up perfectly .. i had the title to the car i park the car in my driveway .. i go to geico .com to add the car to my policy to insure. the next morning i go to DMV in elizabeth nj to register and transfer the title to the car under my name . They tell me that the car has been reported stolen out of paterson nj ..I went crazy .. i tried calling the guy back he didnt answer my calls.. i went online and saw he had more add’s with the same phone number for motors transmissions doors parts to many cars for sale..so i went to the house of the person that was on the title he didnt live there anymore . a lady there gave me the phone number to the land lord of the property which knew the original and real owner of the honda civic..i talked to her and she said the car was stolen from paterson nj .. i told her i paid $1850 for it last night and that i had the title and everything .. So by this point i already knew that the guy that sold me the car was definitly not the owner.. So i called the guy that sold me the car under a different phone number posing as a new customer to purchase one of his motors and transmission he picked up quickly when he saw a new number! so i told him i would meet him with a flat bed or a mini van to pick up this motor… i went to paterson police spoke with the sergants and detectives and i explained to them that i had an arrangement to meet the seller of the car to get more parts .. i also expalined to them that i am in the sellers eyes a new buyer .. so we parked at the location that the guy wanted to meet .. the same 3 people that came to deliver the car when he originally sold it to me all showed up with him .. and the cops did a big surrounding around the car they were in a old 1993 beat up nissan pathfinder which turned out to be stolen aswell.. then the motor and transmission they intended to sell me was in the trunk of the car… they were all taken to paterson police.. the car i purchased got taken buy paterson police.. They are investigating why the original owner of the car would even leave his title in the car no one does.that .. i wanted to know if under the curcumstances.. can i sue the guys that sold me the car for fraud or what can i sue them for including the acomplices they had .. and what about the original titled owner of the car/? i am out of $1850 ..

A: yes, you can sue the guy who sold you the car. and don’t be surprised if the “real owner” is a party to a fraudulent insurance claim on the vehicle. Work with the cops on this one. It’s your best shot at getting your money back.

1998 Honda Civic coupe, 5spd Manual tranny, manual everything, sohc engine, 120,xxx miles, and with some minor customizing/modification/aftermarket stuff.

All work was done by previous owner/s, except for the spoiler and the front and rear strut tower braces, which were done by me. my work is quality but previous owner/s i’m not impressed with. There is a gauge pod with 3 gauges and there is also an aftermarket tach. they were all hooked up when i bought the car, but only the tach and temp gauge worked properly. i don’t think the previous owner/s knew how to wire things properly because a couple of the gauges didn’t read right and also, how ever they had it wired, caused the car to go dead after a couple of days of sitting….. so i cut all of the wires that they had ran to all of the gauges and that fixed the dead battery problem!! lol. i haven’t had time to go through it all and rewire, so it will need redone IF you want them to be functional. I bought the car just to drive it and i wasn’t really concerned with all that extra stuff so it never bothered me. i bought the car for a daily summer time driver for some manual transmission shifting fun!
it will also need a new speedo gear…. somedays it will tell you your speed, other days, not…. lol. should be a cheap fix.
also, the bumpers and the spoiler have been painted (again, prev owners) with i’m guessing spray paint or painted but never clearcoated and buffed…. i’m not sure. those items look fine from a distance and look great at night, but would need resprayed to look really nice.

AFTERMARKET: front bumper, eyebrows, black/chrome rims with 2 matching spare rims, rear spoiler, modified trunk (which is illegal according to the nice policeman, which is why the license plate mounting looks funny – see pics), strut tower braces, cold air intake, muffler. Oh, i’m also running PULSTAR plugs in the engine and it runs GREAT. if you don’t know what those are, look them up… sweet technology.

The car runs and drives VERY nicely and i thoroughly enjoy cruising around in the summer with it…. but i’ve decided to move on from it and get back into Jeeps and 4×4’s. It just has a few minor “cosmetic” issues, but they do NOT affect the driveability/functionality of the car itself. Body condition overa

A: They all look pretty crap to me!

Q: I need help finding 1999 Honda Civic EX parts?
I have no idea what this part is called. But I am looking for the part where all the knobs go for the air conditioner and the radio and all of that stuff. Its right in the middle ha ha. In the car where the radio and the air conditioner knobs go its empty. So does anyone know what website I can go to so I can purchase this part??

A: try checking out Honda Acura.com . They specialize in nothing but Japanese cars..

Q: What aftermarket parts should I add you a 1999 Honda Civic EX before I add a turbo charger.?
I already have a Flow Master exhaust system with headers and ram air. What other aftermarket parts should I add you get it ready for turbo.
Also I was wondering how many pounds of boost would you recomend.
Im actually thinking about an engine swap also before I do this. I was gonna look to swap it with an SI engine.
This car has alot of after market parts on it already. I can probably get around 8000 easily for this. I won a contest at a race track and they hooked it up for me. It has high performance breaks, shocks, and much more.

A: Below is a list of parts you should add to your car BEFORE making a transition to turbo. Note: this is for a stock EX.

- Fuel Pump 190 or 255 walbro
- Fuel Regulator
- Fuel Rail
- New Clutch
- Brakes — a MUST!!!
- Suspension
- Your flow master should be at least 2.5 in diameter
- Spark plugs wires 8.0 –> 10.0mm
- Aftermarket Distributor rotor, Distributor cap
- Bigger Radiator aluminum
- Slim radiator fan
- Stronger CV Axles
- LSD (for take off)

I would recommend 6lbs of boost on your set up because it sounds like you going to be running your car on a stock motor. This would keep it safe from detonation. One word of advise TUNNIG is the key for a good reliable turbo car.

Q: I HIT MY 1999 HONDA CIVIC 4 DOOR?
I HIT MY 1999 HONDA CIVIC 4 DOOR IN THE FRONT AND WANT TO SEE IF THE PARTS FROM A 1999 CIVIC 2 DOOR ARE THE SAME ???? THIS ARE THE PARTS I NEED RADIATOR SUPPORT
HOOD AND I THINK THATS ALL SO CAN I PUT PARTS FROM A 2 DOOR I TO A 4 DOOR

A: I believe the civic 2 door and 4 door are the same from the fenders forward, so I believe the radiator support should be the same.

Q: air conditioning in 1999 honda civic ex?
I drive a 1999 honda civic ex coupe and my air conditioning stopped working last summer. I was told that I need a new air conditioning system.. what does that include (parts wise)? I have no idea what i’m looking for, and i dont want to be taken advantage of… i just want my ac back before summer starts! any help will be appriciated! thanks.

A: your a/c sysytem consist of:
1.controller.
2.compressor.
3.receiver dryer.
4.evaporator.
5.lines.
6.condenser.
7.cooling fan.
8.expansion valve.
9.freon and oil.
have them give you a detailed estimate of what parts you in fact need, and be sure to shop around and have work done by a reputable repair shop.

Q: 1999 Honda Civic EX engine swap question?
How much would it cost to put a 1.6 B16A2 Honda Civic SI engine in a Honda Civic. Would I have to make any major adjustments or would it fit right on the original mounts and everything hook up fine? If not what other parts would I have to buy.
Also I was wondering the same about a JDM B18C Spec R. Would that fit and how much would it cost and what would i have to add/replace to get it working.

A: It depends on the current spec of your civic now, it most likely would have a D-series engine, so changing to a B-series means changing the ECU along with the gearbox, driveshafts, harness and wiring loom. You should be able to put the engine strait in — no need to change mounts. If you have chipped keys (spare red key if you have) then the B16A2 ECU won’t work with them, so you will need a PCT ECU (or other JDM ECU, but PCT is advisable) of the B16B engine, they can be picked up for around £100. You can find a complete package, box, engine, loom, dizzy etc for around £800-1000 with about 60,000miles, labour will be alot though, it depends on your local garage rates. If you get a complete set, or a donor Si, then its a strait forward swap, my mate did his in two days.

The B18C will require more work, same applies, Gearbox, harness and so on, but the engine mounts will need to be strengthened, they don’t need reponsitioning (at least from what someone with the swap has said) and the ECU will work. The B18C Integra engine will cost around £2000-2700 for the complete engine, then add on labour, so it will cost alot.

Best advice i can give is join a forum like HONDA-TECH or HONDACIVICFORUM and ask advice of those who have done it — they can tell you what works and where to ovoid trouble.

Q: Turbo Suprcharger question Honda civic vti?
Hi.

I have a 1999 honda civic si (vti in the uk) and i am planning to supercharge it .. I read that if you do a compression test and leakdown test and they are ok you dont really need to rebuild your moto..
Both of the tests went ok however my moto has 130.000 mph and i was thinking to rebuild it If i am going to put a supercharge it .
What are your thoughts on that?
If i do rebuild the engine can you recommend parts (compression forged pistons, head gaskets etc) or companies that specialize on engine parts for 1999 si .. i looked at greddy but on their website they didnt have much for my car…

It seems that the most popular supercharger are JR and Vortex .. however i live in the uk and i was wondering if you can guys can recommend a company that specializes in the uk as for both of the above brands you can only get them in the U.S.

What gain (BHP) shall i expect to get from each supercharger (average)?

A: You’re going to do an engine rebuild and supercharge a car with 130k miles on the clock?

Save your money and buy a better car.

A: If you want the most improvment in power then rebuild it with as many improvment as you can afford
Otherwise just bolt-on a blower and hope for the best, you can probably pickup another engine from a scrap yard for a resonable price if it blows-up Jap engines are pretty tough

Q: Cost of repairs on a 1999 Honda Civic 5 door, in UK?
My car needs:

4 new shock absorbers
2 CV joint gaiters and
2 trailing arm rubber bushes

I have been quoted £1200 plus VAT for parts and labour…the guy was apologetic and said he didn’t think it was going to be that much…but that was his quote.

I would love to hear from any Honda owners who have paid for similar repairs. Even at £60 an hour for labour, I was surprised by the amount.

Many thanks.

A: The 2 CV joints are a pain to change. They may take about 4 hours if they run into problems. Try another chop and compair the prices. Remember if the mechanic doesn’t see to many honda’s you will have to pay a higher price. They will not be able to complete the job as fast.

Q: Grill gone off Honda civic, how can I secure the hood from being opened?
Someone took the front grill off my 1999 Honda Civic EX. Now, I’m worried that they have access to popping the hood and taking the more expensive parts of the car. Is there any way (temporarily) to secure the hood from being popped open until I’m able to purchase a new grill?

A: Well even with your grill on if they want to take anything out of your car they will. and your latch will stay latched so it wont come open on its own unless they took the latch off with it.

Q: Just had timing belt changed by dealer on honda civic 1999, did I do it too early?
75Kmiles-1999 civic– The dealer did the timing belt service/3 other belts–ps/compressor/alternator and 4 spark plugs. i paid $715 did i get ripped off, or is this an average rate? I am not mechaNICALLY INCLINED , so i had to have the honda dealer do it. Also is it bad to ask for old parts after completion of service, to verify that teh serviec was done? Thanks alot.

A: Timing belt should be replaced every 90,000 miles or every 7 years whichever comes first. Since the car is over 7 years old, it was past due. Different manufacturers recommend different times to change timing belts. Subaru says to do it at 60,000 miles. If you try to go 90,000 on a Subaru you will most likely end up breaking a belt. Years ago I owned a 124 Fiat sedan. Fiat timing belts were to be replaced every 25,000 miles. I know someone who had one break at 23,000.

I have owned many Hondas and have always gone 90,000 miles between belt changes. I presently drive about 20,000 miles a year so that is every 4½ years.

The price you paid is reasonable for a dealer. An independent mechanic may do the job however, for half that price. You did NOT get ripped off. Also, there is no need to ask for old parts on a preventive service like this but the dealer should not be upset if you do. That is your prerogative. Asking for the old parts is a wise thing to do when a mechanic or dealer tells you that you need a repair which is suspect rather than a preventive service that is due to be done. Better than asking for old parts is to ask to see the defective part while it is still on the car. Depending on the part this may not always be possible. Some parts will look the same whether they are good or bad, such as electrical parts. So sometimes seeing the old part makes no difference unless you can test it. Brake pads can be seen without removing the pads. You will need to remove a wheel however. A dealer often has old parts lying around. How do you know the parts they are giving you came from your car? You need to find someone you can trust to work on your car whether it is a dealer or an independent mechanic. Ask around and find out who other people use and why.

Your next timing belt should be changed at 165,000 miles or 7 years from now = October 2015. If you get rid of the car before then, do the next owner a favor and leave a copy of your receipt for this service in the glove box. Black out your name and address etc. if you want to protect your identity. Or simply leave a note that says “timing belt was replaced at 75,000 miles in Oct. 2008 by [your dealer's name]“.

Q: 1999 Honda Civic Lx front end intermittant knocking?
My old dependable civic (250,000 miles) has developed a knock that I have been unable to diagnose. After driving for about 30 to 45 minutes the front end develops a variable knock from the right front side. It tends to knock anytime, but usually when braking or turning. The pitch of the sound varies from very light to very loud. Steering and braking is unaffected by the occurrence. I have checked the right front side several times. The suspension is tight with no play in the wheel. New parts within the last year include: rebuilt trans, right side half axle, right side outer tie rod and front struts/springs. I would appreciate any insight with this problem.

A: In keeping your Honda Civic ride safe and stylish, bumper plays a huge role. Bumpers are basically a steel, aluminum or rubber shield that is mounted on the front or rear end of a vehicle. It functions in preventing or reducing physical damage to the front or rear end of the vehicle in case of low speed collisions. It protects the grille, hood, trunk, exhaust, cooling and fuel system as well as the different light assembles. The efficient and reliable service of your bumper can significantly help not only in keeping you safe in your car but also in saving you thousands of dollars in repair and replacement expense.

Honda Civic bumpers are crafted from high grade materials for product specifications that match the structural requirement of your car. Incorporated with cutting edge technology, it offers long service life that lasts for miles and miles of driving application. As it functions as a protective covering for your car, it is custom molded to match the protection and performance requirement of your vehicle. But aside from its functional service, bumpers also make for an effective exterior styling part. It customizes the front and rear look of your Honda ride to give it a distinct look. The stylish and elegant appeal that the bumpers offer will surely make your ride a sure head turner on the road.

Innovations in bumper features have now made it more efficient and durable. Strength and rigidity are incorporated in its design to enable it to resist the crushing forces of low impact collisions. Modifications are allowed in today’s bumpers to strengthen the assembly and enhance its look. Available in several styles, colors and designs, you get to have wide choices when it comes to bumper replacements. But still proper maintenance is the key to keeping its reliable service for thousands of miles. Because the part is vulnerable to damages, seeking immediate replacement as soon as the part gets damage is vital. Putting off replacement is wrong economy and a safety hazard.

Q: What is the best way (cheapest) to sell my NJ – 1999 Honda Civic EX 2dr with 50k miles?
The car is in EXCELLANT CONDITION. The car is located in Clark. NJ. Has very low miles for a 1999 because of company car. I am considering EBAY, YAHOO, etc – but would like to know the most effective way to sell the car. I would like to avoid taxes (minimize them) and other fees. I am not in a rush to sell the car – however, I do not want to car to depreciate any further.

Q: honda civic?
hey do anyone knows where can i find a cheap 1999 honda civic Si engine in california?? or wnywhere but cheap??

A: Recycler.com or craigslist. Also, try CNS Motors. I’ve had good experiences with them. They have a location in Santa Ana and also one in El Monte I believe but I’ve never been to that location. Also, you can order form them online at cnsmotors.com. If you search the newspaper, you’ll find a lot of used JDM engine distributors. That’s one of the beauties to living here in California. These shops are as common as Arco stations.

Q: I have a 1999 Honda Civic Ex(Auto)That i want to convert to a manual how much does it cost and where to do it?
If you know any shops or places that do it for cheap plz let me know cause i wanna get this done cause i love my civic =)

A: Few times a day somebody ask about converting their auto to manual (or vice versa).

It used to be that everybody answered – that it was cheaper to sell your and buy another with manual. I still contend that if it is not just plain cheaper, at least it is better.

When you do a major surgery on you car like that, the quality of the end product will largely depend on the skill of your mechanic. Given this is not a everyday thing (not even every other month thing), I would say that you are leaving awfully a lot to your faith in your mechanic.

Bottom line don’t do it unless you are creating a show car or gutting things out for a racer, etc.

But Good Luck anyway.

Q: Where to buy used engine for honda civic?

Q: 1999 Honda Civic CAT convertor question.?
So I have a plugged catalystic convertor on my 1999 honda civic hx. my muffler is rusted and is broke as well.

My catalystic convertor is right on the manifold by the engine, I was wondering if it would be possible just to put a 4-2-1 header on it and get a cheaper cat and attach it on the bottom of the car?

Or do I have to get the same exact catalytic convertor and have it by my engine?

let me know. Thanks!

A: Yes you can, I had a Civic CX and the cat was right on the manifold too
when mine went bad, I bought a DC header and bought a cat and a cat exhaust system, but I bought it for the EX model and it fit’s fine
You do have to extend the o2 wires so it’ll reach the new cat but it was no big deal

Never got a check engine light

Q: 1999 honda civic?
hey i have a 99 honda civic ex and i need an oil pan, what kind(aluminum or steel)) should i get??? and where can i find a cheap ECU for my car??? help.

A: junkyard….oem

Q: honda civic ex conversion?
Hi, I’m a senior in high school and I’m about to get my car and license soon.

I plan on getting a 1999 Honda Civic EX coupe or a Civic Si (99-0)

I just wanted to know which would save me more money and time.
I plan to do internals first, than exhaust. I plan to get 200+hp on my Honda civic by the time all the tuning is done.

Option 1:
Buying a 1999 ex coupe, then doing internals then exhaust..etc.etc.
1999 ex coupe stock : 130hp & cheaper

Option 2:
Buying a Si, then doing internals then exhaust..etc.etc..
Civic Si stock: 160hp & about the same price

Since I’m gonna be on a provisional license, I don’t want my car to stand out as much, especially to the cops. xD.

Just wanted to know which option would be better, Or you can give me your opinions and options of your own to help me out. I’m new to this kind of stuff. Haha.

A: get the Si unless you want some more options for comfort.

how much money you looking to spend on internals? complete build from block up? bolt ons?

by starting with the SI, you will already have a good powerful b-series to start your build with and will respond nicely to any bolt on parts, i.e. intake manifold, exhaust headers, high performance exhaust, timing cams, etc…

you are looking at some serious coin if you decide to put some new pistons, a port and polish/valve job, new cams, valves, springs, retainers, connecting rods, etc…

look around and see what some others are doing, but be careful on some of the honda forums. my suggestion is to start reading. there are a number of books out there on building and tuning b-series engines. there are some great magazines out there too. my recommendation is DSport.

Q: Where can I find a cheap front bumper in Los Angeles area?
I’m looking for a 1999 Honda civic ex front bumper it could be the regular bumper or a custom bumper.

A: First off, you are in California, nothing cheap there…and, on top of that you want one in LA?

Try a few “used car parts” (generic for junkyard) places, you might get lucky…

Q: My muffler has a cheap and loud exhaust welded onto it. HOW CAN I REMOVE IT? ?
I have a 1999 Honda civic EX coupe. I bought the car as is from my brother in law. The exhaust that is on there now is extremely loud and I want to remove it. The exhaust is welded on and is an extremely cheap, junk yard, potato type, exhaust. Is it possible to get rid of this cheaply loud device? and if so what type of prices am I looking at in shop and at home?

A: A shop will have to cut off the current exhaust and weld on a new muffler that is quiet. The price really depends on what muffler you choose to get installed but I would say you’ll be spending about $100-150. You might be able to purchase a cheaper muffler that is close to stock but the quality will be poor. Good luck!

Q: Would someone please choose a honda civic for me?
2000 Honda civic EX. Automatic, 124,000 miles on it for $6000.

http://www.jadta.com/images/inventory/1z9n70844poq.jpg

1999 Honda civic EX. automatic 92,000 miles for $5300

http://www.dealercarsearch.com/photos.aspx?dealer=968&id=185062&bgColor=000000

2002 Honda civic ex automatic. 75,000 miles on it for $7000.

http://www.dealercarsearch.com/photos.aspx?dealer=968&id=185060&bgColor=000000

cheaper would be better, but can go as high as $7k if needed. I do not know anything about the cars except that none of them were in a wreck. Please help me choose and tell me why you’d choose them.

A: get the 99….cheaper….then the 2000 and is a whole lot easier to work on compared to the 2002…plus has more aftermarket support for mods if you choose to…..

Q: Honda Civic or Prelude?
I have a choice between these two fine cars. I just don’t know which to pick. Tell me your opinions on your pick. And between these two cars, which one would you prefer over performance?

My opinion.
2001 Prelude
Preludes have bigger engine and more curb weight. more slick, sporty look.
Reliable? Are the parts for Preludes cheap and easy to find?

1999-2000 Civic Si
Gas efficient. Wide modification chose. Reliable and fun.

Are these two car’s performance a big difference?

A: t-14 must have failed math class…
anyway the prelude will be faster in a straight line and the civic should handle better. I would prefer the civic si but only if you have a garage to store it, as they are always getting stolen.

Q: Whats the difference between 1997-2000 honda civic ex coupe? ?
i want to know why the 2000 is better than a 1997-1999. is it cuter?
I really want an Si but i dont know anything about cars. i just want a cheap cute one =)

A: ok for the 1996-1998 civic’s ex vs comparing a 1999-2000 civic ex.
first off the front end, headlights bumper changed.
1998:

1999-2000:

notice how the grill on the bottom is smaller and has two optional cutouts for fog lights.
look again:

99-00 with fogs:

ok for the back, 96-98 had amber turn signals, 99-00 coupes had clear.

basically i think thats it for the 1996-1998 civic ex, compared to the 1999-2000 ex

now for comparing the 1999-2000 civic ex vs si.

the si is a upgraded ex, upgraded from the 1.6 SOHC D-series motor to the 1.6 DOHC VTEC B16A2, so newer engine trans computer axels.

also since it has a bigger more powerful motor it had a newer designed cluster.

si for that year also added rear disc brakes which the ex didn’t have.

si also had orange interior lights to backlight the gauges hvac panel as shown:

http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m300/sk8shorty017/shot5.jpg

where as the civic ex was more whiteish.

si also came with alloy wheels
http://carsmedia.ign.com/cars/image/article/688/688078/history-of-the-civic-si-20060210061726674.jpg
where as the ex was steel rims with hubcaps:

if you want a cheap cute one, you can do what i did, get a 99 civic dx and make it look jdm like this.

BEFORE:
start with a car like this:[99-00 civic dx coupe or hatch what ever you like]
http://americardealer.com/yahoo_site_admin/assets/images/DSCF0449.274141245_std.jpg

http://static.howstuffworks.com/gif/autoreview/400×266/2000-Honda-Civic-00802031990002.jpg

and make it look JDM like the japanese have stock in japan.

add like fog lights, sidemarker lights si cluster decals emblems it will make a nice car which i think you would like.

AFTER:
do like this guy did similarly.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_aTqyum3iNo
look at the 0:23 sec mark for before
and the 1:11 mark for after you should do like that.

Q: What does a “preformance chip” really do for a car?
So I’ve seen these preformance chips on the internet. Supposedly they can give you up to 50hp and 6 mpg. Seems really cheap (only 39.99) for such performance enhancement. I don’t know if I believe it. Can anyone tell me from past experience if these things really work. For a 1999 Honda civic btw.

Heres a link to one I was looking at: http://www.performancechipsdirect.com/Honda/Civic-2Dr/

A: The ones on ebay are basically resistors, not chips. they trick the motor into thinking there is cold air coming into your motor making it dump more fuel. check out www.voloperformance.com as their chips go into your OBDII port and work.

Q: Im debating on whether i should sell my 1999 eclipse GS and buy a 1999 Honda Civic si?
Its hard because my 99 eclipse is really hot looking. its the type that looks like a GSX GST and it gets looks everywhere i go. but it is so damn slow….

and Honda’s last a long time and it has a vtec engine which is really cool. should i just sell it and buy the si? its all stock and clean. its also electron blue. it does have a strut bar in the engine bay.

A: Still debating on this I see. By the time you make up your mind someone is gonna buy that clean Si. With some money you can make that Si look just as clean and hot, if not better looking, than your Eclipse.

Q: Does anyone know is it good to buy a 1999 Honda civic or mitsubishi eclipse?

A: It depends on who do you get it from.. If you get it from a young peoople i dont recommend ;)

Q: would you buy a 1999 honda civic hx with the cvt automatic transmission?
i have heard some good and very bad things about this transmission –any first hand knowlwdge or heard anything/–the car i want has 76,000 miles—thanks

A: Yes because hondas are reliable cars just like toyotas. I have a 1997 Honda CR-V. I hasnt broke down one time. If you don’t mind suscibing to a magazine with car ratings go to www.consumerreports.com

Q: I don’t know if i should buy this 1999 honda civic si?
here are the pics

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f218/sblazin/1999%20CIVIC%20SI/DSC00904.jpg

http://s48.photobucket.com/albums/f218/sblazin/1999%20CIVIC%20SI/?action=view&current=DSC00893.jpg

its all stock 103,000 miles. I have a 99 eclipse right now and im thinking about selling it and buying a 99 civic si like this one.

Im worried that this person might have ran the shi+ out of it. but even if he did its a honda right, so it should not effect it.

now i do not now how hard he drove that thing im just thinking if he did.

should i buy it?
click on the second link to the pic gallery. i just realized how much body damage there is if you look close.

A: to be honest, you should buy a car if youre only 100% about it. if i was in your situation i would make this switch. hondas have better gas mileage, and this particular honda has low miles too. if the civic in the picture is the stock honda civic that youre talking about, that thing looks very clean. i dont think he couldve ran the shit out of it.

if youre looking for conformation, yes, i believe you should buy this car.

if you are asking if this car is worth the switch, it all depends. do you want more gas mileage with less power, or more power with less mmileage? whichever you prefer, you can still modify the civic to match the eclipse’s power, even surpass it.

bottom line, buy the fucking thing. its light, good on gas, looks good, its dependable, and has lots of potential.

Q: Should I buy a 1999 Honda Civic with 98k for $2900?
I’m a college student, is this a good deal?

A: NO warranty at that mileage on any car, I’d take it for a test drive to an auto shop and have a mechanic check it to see if it’s worth buying.
Find out how many owners and the maintenance record of that car first as that can make all the difference in how long it’ll be usable still later.

I know some cars if well maintained can last up to 200,000k or close if they are very well maintained. It doesn’t happen for a lot of cars though. My bf once had a cavalier that he got to 147,000k with regular required maintenance on that car.

I’d look around in the meantime for cars with less mileage and not have to deal with such issues as something going wrong that may nickel and dime you in the process to add up to big repair bucks later.

Some private sales are wanting cash in a hurry and can sell their car for what they will get if you just look around. I would also try such as a police auto auction or a car dealership car auction/sale if you find one.

Q: I’m about to buy a 1999 Honda Civic Ex Sedan?
I’m expected to pay 5,500 for it from a little dealership, the tax is included. the old girl has 86,000 miles on it, makes weird little sqeaking noises in the rear (i’m no mechanic, but perhaps its because i was test driving it in cold weather and it had apparantly been sitting for a while). it has steel wheels which are suuuuper rusty. it has power windows, power locks, a cd player, cloth seats, and is an automatic. the real question is, how much should i pay for this thing? edmunds says its worth $3,890 retail…

Q: Which car should i buy a 1999 honda accord or a 2000 honda civic or 2004 nissan sentra 1.8s?
Which car should i buy a 1999 honda accord or a 2000 honda civic or 2004 nissan sentra 2.8s?
the accord is 128k and costs 3600, the civic is 94000 was possibly in an accident, has dents and paint chipping from front and rear bumper, also back windshield is cracked a little and price is 3700

the Nissan was also in an accident, paint in rear chipped, mileage is 111k, two previous owners, fair condition (saw Edmunds.com consumer reviews, and most people gave it a bad rating in reliability and overall rating)

out of the three which should i choose.
please help;
will give 10 pts

Q: What are some things to look for before buying a honda civic between the years 1994 and 1999?
Like if you can please be specific such as were to look in the engine and the enterior such as body and inside and also what is a good milage for a honda civic between 1994 and 1999 that is decent enough to buy? Thanks!

A: rust around the rear fenders is the biggest issue with those cars.also just make sure if its a standard the tires are good and the clutch feels good just because its a good indication of it the cars been beat by some previous owners.

Q: 1999 honda civic Ex, a good buy?
Came Across this red 1999 2 door Honda civic Ex red, custom hooked up, being sold at a honda dealership. I looked at the photos of it including the engine, and it looks clean and good condition car looks like new, leather interior sun roof, etc. Car has 78,000 miles, now I plan on going there to test drive, now if it feels good runs well no weird noises, should I get it? It has 78,000 miles on it and they want 6,999 on it. Its hooked up, has euro lights, lil spoiler kit, sound system, nice wheels. What should I check out/look out for, typically how long will a car like this honda, will last?

Q: 1999 Honda Civic, would you buy if…..?
Would you buy it if it had 180,000 miles (290,000km’s) on it? It’s a 1.6L automatic.I took a test drive in it, it appears to drive well…………but should i buy it with that much mileage? How many more miles will I expect to get out of it? Seller is asking $2700. Would you buy it or would you look for something with less mileage?
I am looking for a vehicle under $3000 only, that is why I am considering this car.
Thanks for everyone’s answers. I am going to go look for another car, I also thought it was a bit pricey for the mileage it has. You helped me make my decision! Thanks!

A: Thats a ton of miles, I’d try and look around a little longer.

Q: Im tryna buy a honda civic from years 1995-1999?
can anybody help me find one, or is there anybody selling one,
doesnt matter the price

A: Check Manheim Auctions they have everything all over the US. or Autotrader that is one of theirs.

Q: whats a good used car milage for a honda civic 1999-2000 to buy?

A: Anything more than zero miles is too many! Buy a ford and never look back. There is a reason ford did not need government help.

Q: i need to find a 1999 honda civic engine layout online?

A: go to google.com

Q: What size of wiper blades will fit my 1999 Honda Civic SiR?
I have tried every web site online and I can’t find specs for wiper blades for my particular model. If you can add a web site where you got your info, you’ll get added points in my book for best answer. By the way, I’m Canadian, so for all you Americans the correct trim level would be Si, not SiR.

A: For the 99-00 Civic Si (SiR), the correct size is as follows:
500mm for the driver’s side
450mm for the passenger’s side

If you are looking for OEM wiper blades from Honda the part numbers are:

76620-SH2-A02 (driver’s)
38472-SB2-305 (passenger’s)

Q: 1999 honda civic ex short ram intake?
I am looking to install a short ram intake into my 99 civic, haven’t decided if i will by one online like an AEM or Injen or if i will just go ahead and build my own like i wanted from the start. I’ve searched all over online for a diagram of the stock intake just to get an idea of what tubes are going into the intake and what i do with them when i install my new intake. Could anyone with experience just let me know what tubes are what and where i need to put them? thanks a lot
John S, thanks for the reply, but by not worrying about the stock intake do you mean i don’t need all the other tubes?

A: If you’re looking to make your own piece by piece then you don’t really need to worry about the stock intake. As long as you have room for the piping you can put it there. The idea of course though is to stay away from areas where there will be hot air, most applications just install it to the left of the engine (passenger side). Here’s a good picture to give you an idea:

Correct, if you’re installing an after-market cold air intake you don’t need any of the original tubes. Just take them out and install the new ones.
Good luck

Q: 1999 Honda Civic EX – Window problem ?
I have a bunch of goo in streaks on the inside of my drivers side window deposited by something inside the door panel.
It appears to be a rubber like substance disolved in oil.
The window is still fuinctioning normally.
I haven’t pulled the panel off yet to see what it is, I’m just wondering if anyone has seen this before and what I should look for.
Also, if you know of any online sites where I can find diagrams of the mechanism or technical information, please give me a link.
Thanks.

A: Its a 10 year old car and it might be the glue that holds the window in its track that is deteriorating…….

Remove the screw from the door handle trim.

Slide the handle assembly forward and out to access the lock rod clip.

Release the clip

Disconnect the door lock switch

Remove the door opener handle assembly.

Carefully pry at the small opening on the bottom of the speaker grill.

Remove the speaker grille.

Remove the speaker mounting screws.

Detach the electrical connector and remove the speaker.

Remove the screws in the armrest.

Remove the center from the trim clip at the upper front of the door panel and remove the clip.

Using a suitable trim panel removal tool, unsnap the door panel from the door frame.

Carefully lift the door panel up and away from the door frame.

Q: Honda Civic 1999 LX 4D Empty Weight.?
Please Please Please help me out. I need to know the empty weight of my car to go to the DMV. And you know how crazy the DMV is. I’ve been looking online(google and yahoo) and am empty handed. Please and Thanks if you can help.

A: The curb weight is 2357 lbs., while the gross weight is 3091 lbs. I’m not sure which you’ll need. The sticker on the car should match this gross weight.

The difference between curb and gross is as follows:
Curb weight: weight of the car with no passengers or cargo
Gross weight: the maximum weight the car is designed for when fully loaded with passengers and cargo

Q: Where can I buy replacement back lights for car clocks?
I am purchasing a 1999 Honda Civic and the back light on the clock in the dash is burnt out. I can’t seem to find anywhere online that I can buy a bulb at though. If anyone has some links or knows a store that I can buy one at it would be appreciated.

A: http://digikey.com they will have the part, but you got to have the know how to replace it
electronics are no joke working on.

Q: How can I find a cars gas milage online?
For a 1999 or 1996 Honda Civic…

A: you can go on carmax.com and look at one of the cars from that year. it should give you an idea.
