Q: How to change front rotors on a 2000 honda civic?
My husband has changed rotors on a 90 honda accord befor but never a 2000 civic, is there a big difference? I need new front rotors and new brakes how hard it that to do?

A: The front rotors will need to be hydraulically pressed onto the hub. The pads themselves are very easy to replace. If your husband has access to a press or has a press you can have this simple task done for about $100 USD. It should only take about 30-45 minutes as well.

Q: What other engines would fit my 2000 honda civic if i wanted to engine swap?
Hi i am looking to engine swap my 2000 honda civic (coupe) and don’t know what other engines fit its body. Like what engines from other stock cars and/or and turbo or improved engines made for the civic are there?
thanks.

A: Any engine will fit any car. i have seen a CRX (really small honda) with a V8 in it. it was a beast. i would go with the K20 as well or second choice a B18, or H22. all three are great engines.

Q: Can a 2000 Honda Civic handle a HID kit without a relay harness?
I have a 2000 Honda Civic EX and plan on installing an 8000k HID kit. I have researched around and it is not necessary to have a relay harness, but there is a chance of making the stock harness stop working. For anyone that owns a 97-00 Civic, can your stock harness handle the HID kit without a relay harness?

A: Hey friend, an H.I.D kit consists of a set of ballasts (bulbs), wiring harnesses and ignitor boxes. In order for the kit to properly work on your vehicle, you have to have all three componets. There is no way around it. If you try to hardwire it into your current headlight harness, you can potentially fry your electrical system. Even cars like BMW, Benz, Range Rover whatever that have HIDs or Xenon lights have those three componets. Your working with your car here. Why shortcut something and risk destroying your project and transportation? Hope this helps happy tuning.

Q: What else to enhance the horsepower of a 2000 honda civic ex?
I have a 2000 honda civic ex coupe model. Its a manual transmission. I am trying to enhance the speed. So far, i have a short rim intake(aem brand) & a decent looking exhaust. I want to add headers to it also. What else can i do to it? Also, if anyone can knows of any websites where i can obtain info & get cheap prices. Thanks

A: You probally already know this, but remove any thing you can live without. spare tire, jack, glove box liner.any thing. loosing 100lbs is the same as gaining 10 hp. 10 FREE hp. Good luck.

Q: Can anybody please help me find my 2000 Honda Civic radio code?
I recently replaced the battery in my 2000 Honda Civic, and now the radio doesn’t work. The radio prompts me for a code to unlock the radio, but I don’t have the code. From what I’ve found searching online, this is a common problem.

I have searched all over my car for the code sticker, but all I could find is what I believe to be the radio serial number. Is anybody able to tell me my radio code from the radio serial number? M98N355810

Thank you!

A: Im a moderator for www.crvoc.com and we get that all the time, here is the link to honda’s retrieval site https://radio-navicode.honda.com/

just follow the prompts on their site and it should work, but im not sure i have not tried it, and i own a 2000 honda cr-v. but most likely the dealership will have it, or there should be a sticker inside your glove box, or so i have heard.

Q: How can I improve the speed and acceleration of my 2000 honda civic?
I own a stock 2000 honda civic and want to improve its speed and acceleration, what are the first things i should do?

A: it depends on your wallet really.
the best way to increase horsepower is to install a nitrous kit (aka NOS by some ppl)
another way is to install a supercharger or turbo charger into the car.
any of these methods should increase the total horse power of you car from 30-50%

another way is to do an engine swap. depending on what engine you currently have an engine swap might be a good way to increase your cars speed/power.

Q: Lost the key to my 2000 Honda Civic. How can I start it?
I want to sell my 2000 Honda Civic since the transmission no longer works, and I’ve lost the key. Some people have come by and asked me about the car, but I want to be able to show them that it works fine, other than the transmission. Is there anyway that I can turn the car on?

A: Go to the dealership with the VIN and proof of ownership (insurance card or title) and they can cut a new one while you wait. Runs about $15.00

Q: How do I get my 2000 Honda Civic alarm’s remote start to remain on?
I am installing a Carvox car alarm in a 2000 Honda Civic with remote start. Alarm works fine but remote start starts vehicle for 15 seconds and then the vehicle shuts off.

How do I get the vehicle to remain on? Is there a prob with wire connection? do I need to add a relay?
And the manual does not show any information on adjusting timing

A: read the manual there should be a set up for the timer.

Q: How do I install a rear bumper cover on a 2000 Honda Civic?
The rear bumper cover on my 2000 Honda Civic cracked (got hit from the rear lightly, which damaged the plastic nonetheless). Thanks in advance for any pointers!

A: Buy a Haynes Manual for a 2000 Honda Civic at an auto parts store.
It’ll give you instructions with illustrations on how to change out the rear bumper.

Q: how do you fix the power outlet under the radio in a 2000 honda civic?
I have a 2000 honda civic. My power outlet or my cigarette lighter, how ever you wanna call it, is not working. I plug in my cell phone charger and my gps charger in it and it does not work at all. Im wondering if it could be from a fuse that has gone out or something else.. If you know anything on how to fix it and how much it would be to get it fixed, please give me an answer.

A: The first thing you should check is the fuse…

Q: Where are the oxygen sensors located on a 2000 Honda Civic?
Firstly, let me apologize for the length of this question. But, I’m having trouble figuring out what to do. My fiancee has a 2000 Honda Civic. Her Check Engine light came on just recently. We hooked it up to a diagnostic machine that told us we had a/some bad oxygen sensors. The guy at the auto shop recommended a spray that is supposed to clean “gunk” of engine parts. He said if we spayed it and the light goes off, we have saved ourselves a lot of money. But, I don’t know where the sensors are in order to try it. I know very little about auto mechanics. So, if you know the answer, please state it as if you were speaking to a kindergartener. Thanks in advance for any help.

A: if you,ll look on the exhaust manifold and start following it down you,ll see the first one, then follow it down some more and you,ll see the second one,it should have two on it ,honestly what he old you wont really work on it though, when those go bad they have to be replaced, there’s no repairing them like he said, and even if it does make the light go off, you,ll have to get the trouble code erased, and i guarantee you it will come back on again,id just replace them and be done with it,that’s the best way to handle this, good luck with it.

Q: Where can I find rims for a 2000 Honda Civic Hatchback?
I have a 2000 Honda Civic Hatchback and I want to find some good rims for it. I would like to find rims that are green to put on it. Also where can I buy body kits for the Civic. Thanks!

A: if you are looking for the body kit you can check this link – there are about 25 body kits listed there for your car

http://www.customautotrim.com/bodykits/extreme-dimensions/honda/civic-hb/1996-2000/

Q: Where can I find a 2000 Honda Civic Door?
Got in a wreck. The front passenger side door needs to be replaced. I have a 2000 Honda Civic VP (the value package). Any ideas where to look or what key words I should use on my search?

Are there any other years that are compatible with this one?

Thank you!

A: Here’s a link to the national salvage yard inventory list.

Q: Is there a Flowmaster muffler that will work with my 2000 honda civic?
I looked on some websites and im not sure which ones will fit onto my car
Its a 2000 Honda Civic Ex Coupe

A: flow master and magnaflow are designed for v6 and v8 cars. you can get it for an inline4 but it will sound really bad. what you can do is get some headers, get a resonator and have a muffler shop make you an exhaust for your car at about 2.25″ with the resonator on and it will give you a deep sound. if you go with flowmaster or magnaflow you will end up with a high pitch sound and you will notice a slight rattle as it is not really designed for a 4 cylinder. i went with a thrush 31″ resonator and i love the way my civic sounds now. you really have to play with it though and see what kind of sound you like.

Q: What are the best initial upgrades for a 2000 honda civic for under $1000?
If i have $1000 to spend on my 2000 honda civic, how should i spend it to get the best power improvement?

Alternatively, is there any way to spend that $1000 to improve its overall fuel efficiency?

A: intake, headers, exhaust. the 3 basic and common upgrades. they also increase fuel efficiency. also, upgrade your ground wires. use thicker wires to better ground everything. a grounding kit isn’t necessary, as i’ve seen friends of mine just use thicker cables to ground and it does the same job as the ’sun’ kits.

Q: How much is a used 2000 Honda Civic Ex 2DR salvage title?
Current asking price for 2000 Honda Civic Ex Coupe w/Salvage Title is $4700. 113k miles,White, Automatic, All power, Very clean exterior, no visible damage. How much is this car worth? How much do you guys think I should pay for this car? $2500 a reasonable price?

A: 1500.

Q: Would you buy a used 2000 Honda Civic for $5600, 100, 800 miles?
I looked it up on carfax with the vin# and it shows it was in an accident 10/07. They redid the body work though and to me looks brand new. Just not sure though.

A: If it was in perfect shape, yes but being in an accident, NO. Offer $4800 for it and see what happens.

Q: How can I change the clock in the radio of my Honda Civic EX 2000?
I bought a used 2000 Honda Civic EX a week ago, and I cannot figure out how to change the clock in the stock radio. I don’t have the owners manual and I cannot find instructions on how to do this. I tried pressing (and holding) some buttons but none of them worked so far. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

A: There are two different ways to set the clock depending on the radio you have. I think the first one below will be the one that does it but if it doesn’t, then try procedure #2

on the right side of your radio (to the right of the clock display) there should be a ’scan’ button. It should be the lower of two horizontal buttons and it should say ‘clock’ under it (the button may say scan/rpt or something else but it should be the lower of the two buttons). with the ignition key turned “on” so that the instrument panel lights and the clock are illuminated (you don’t need to start the car) and the radio OFF so only the clock is displayed, push in on the SCAN button and hold it in. While holding it in, push the #4 radio preset button (under the radio display) to change the hours and then release that button to ’set’ it when you have the right hours. Continue to hold the Scan button in and use the radio station preset button #5 to set the minutes. When the minutes are set, release the button and turn the key off. that’s all you need to do.

If the first procedure doesn’t work then use the fillowing:
on some later radios, you push in the Scan/rpt/clock button and hold it until it beeps. if you hear a beep when you are holding the scan button in, then you release the button and use the #4 and #5 buttons to set the time. when the correct time is set, then push the Scan button a second time and hold it until it beeps. when it beeps the time is set and you can turn the key off.
hope that answers your question

Q: Should I buy a used Honda Civic 2000 DX?
I am unsure about buying this car. EVERYTHING is GREAT (engine, body, etc) BUT it has manual steering, not power steering.

I am wondering if that will prove difficult and too annoying, or if i should go for it!

It’s a good price too and low KMs.

Advice?

A: It’s a light car and power steering is not required. Go for it.

Q: what do you think the average used 2000-2004 honda civic would cost me?
: -im going to buy my first car and i really want like a little nice black honda civic but, i only have about $5000,i want a used one which would be cheaper..but how cheap do you think it would be..

A: You are looking at about a ‘99 model for $5,000.00. For every year after that up until ‘04 you can probably add another $1,000.00 to the price. Remember though that since they are very common, you can find a lower mileage ‘99 with around 90k miles. I wouldn’t get one with over 100k miles. Once they are that old, the model won’t affect the price much, so try to find you an EX. The color will probably be your biggest challenge! If you are not picky about the color, you will find one easy. Good luck!

Q: Where can I buy used transmission for 2000 Honda Civic in Toronto?
Its manual trans, does anyone also know any Honda/Acura tuner shops that may replace the transmission for cheap??

A: Try your local auto dismantler. In the yellow pages. Some may also install.

Q: what type of transmission fluid should be used in a 2000 honda civic?
i can’t find my owner’s manual.
thanks.

A: the only kind of fluid that you should use is the Hondamatic fluid that you can buy at your Honda dealer.

if its an emergency and you’re really low you can use Dextron III but you would be ill advised to use all Dextron to do a transmission service as that doesn’t have the seal conditioners or additives that the Hondamatic fluid has.

you’ll pay about the same for Hondamatic as you will for Dextron.

if your transmission is a manual transmission then use the Honda Manual Transmission fluid. Again, in an emergency you can use a quality 10w30 or 10w40 motor oil but that’s not recommended for a drain and refill

hope that helps

Q: question concering 2000 honda civic ex?
i recently bought a used 2000 honda civic ex, only 88,000 miles on it. i bought it used so that i could use some extra money left over for a few things, mind you i test drove it and got a carfax report which it showed everything to be fine, i’ve done:

1. new spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor
2. new fuel filter, air filter
3. new tires on it,
4, new timing belt, alternator belt and fan, plus new water pump
5. radiator flush and brake flush
only problem is after doing this the idiot who worked on broke my exhaust valve which they had the honesty to tell me about it and fixed it for free, my only real question is i’ve had this car checked out and everything seems to be fine, besides probably later on doing brake pads and drums, shocks / struts, i believe in doing preventative maintance, is there anything else i should do, also note i’m not planning on put body kits or anything on it. any honest, helpful suggestions would be useful also this car is manual transmission

A: even though it is a manual trans you should still drain and put fresh fluid in it about once a year this will save on the trans . other then that your on the right track.

Q: How much do u think i can buy a used honda civic?
Used 98, 99, 2000 model honda civic SI for?
or a EX.
2 door also
STick transmission

A: $1,500-$4,000 depending on condition

Q: How much is the average price of a Honda Civic 1999 – 2000?
I’m here n the Philippines and I was thinkng of buying a used 1999-2000 Honda Civic (SiR body). What would be the average price and which is cheaper in maintaining: Manual or automatic tranny?

A: About 10 minutes of looking it up on the internet, and researching the price for yourself, instead of expecting people to do your work for you.

Q: Is $4,450 a fair price for a 2000 Honda Civic DX Hatchback with 115,000 miles?
I recently found a used 2000 Honda Civic DX Hatchback for sale in Northern VA and I’d just like to know if $4,450 is a fair price to pay? Here are some details:

115,000 miles
Automatic 4 cyl
1.6L engine
Cruise control
Alarm system
Sony CD player
Great condition all around

My brother told me that with it being a Honda that even at 115,000 miles it probably still has another 350,000+ miles to go. Does that sound right? I heard people joke about how a used Honda or Toyota with 150,000 miles will last longer and are also better investments than a new Ford/Chevy. Any truth to this? Anyway, I’d appreciate any advice you folks could give me on this.

A: That is a good deal. If you were looking at this car on a carlot here it would be about 6,000. I say go for it and it is a Honda, so you will have many miles if its in as good of shape as it sounds. good luck

Q: how much should it cost to replace an engine and radiator with used replacements on a 2000 honda civic?
including parts and labor

A: this would depend on where you are and the shop that you take it to and the coast of the replacement and the amount of time that the shop had to place into the job new eng or used hears testament 40k sounds good to me with out know Inga the coast of new mot tor and doing some looking into the coast of eng and job ether say go for it or look some place other than me then once Again i dint think it should coast 40 k but for off the wall there you go in reality
eng 5000.00 remove 5000.00 and install topical diesel eng for semi cast 26k

Q: 2000 Honda Civic Si aftermarket spoiler light hook up?
I just bought a used 2000 Honda Civic Si. It looks as if it did not have a factory installed spoiler when new, but does have a Honda Civic spoiler now. The LED brake light in the spoiler is not working, but the 3rd brake light in the rear window is. I took off the spoiler and found that the wires for the light aren’t connected to anything. What is the best way to get the brake light in the spoiler working? Do I need to disconnect the brake light in the dash of the back window and use that connection for the spoiler? Or do I need to splice the wires into other brake light wires somehow? Any suggestions would be great. The LED light in the spoiler has two wires (green and black) that travel through the spoiler (and now through the trunk) and at the end of the wires is a connector of some sort. Best I can describe it…. one plastic/rubber connector with both one male and one female connection. similar to the end of a 9v battery. Hope that made any sense. Thanks in advance.

A: Lemme first say that this is going to require some tools. a volt tester for one, and pair of crimpers, and a buddy to push the brake pedal.

Having both third break lights is annoying, so you going to have to bypass the one on the inside of the car. its gonna cause you to cut the wires and with the tester, (unless u know which wire does what), see the voltages to determine the power and ground. After u strip the wires, u do the same for the spoiler tail light leads and crimp them. ( green will be your power, and black is your ground).

with a little bit of trial and error u should be able to figure it out, and crimping does hold, just make sure u tug on it to make sure it wont fall out.

Cheers

Q: 2000 Honda Civic Si radio replacement?
I just bought a used 2000 Honda Civic Si. There was no radio in it or the open cubby hole beneath it. The bezel around the radio that has the heat/ac controls moves around freely at the moment. The guys at Best Buy that install radios told me they could put a radio in, but it wouldn’t be very secure because the bezel could still slide out. Is the bezel supposed to “snap” into place when pushed in or is it secured by 4 screws/bolts as I’m guessing? Anybody with one of these vehicles that knows what I’m asking…. please help. Thanks.

A: Well, I answered your other question regarding the remote entry key fob, and now I see you do not have a factory radio!! That is why you do not have the remote entry! As for the radio, that is more difficult. The factory radio will be very expensive, although it is very good. The base model has excellent reception, and the one with a CD player is very expensive!

Crutchfield.com specializes on after market radios, and perhaps you can find one with remote entry. They know what accessories are needed to install radios properly. Most alarm and after market shops also sell remote entries, although they might be limited on choices of radios. If the guys at Best Buy can not install the radio properly, do not let them do it. I am sure the factory radio snaps into place, as the slot below does as well (where the CD would have gone.) I have seen replacement radios in Honda’s and any competent installer should be able to secure it in place by some means.

Good luck.

Q: 2000 Honda Civic Si reliability and gas mileage?
I just bought a used 2000 Honda Civic Si with 113,000 miles for $5000. I just had the timing belt and water pump changed. Civics have the reputation of lasting forever but I’m wondering does that apply to the Si model since it is a little different? Also, I know they’re supposed to get 26-30 or so MPG… Is this everyone’s experience that has owned one, or is there anyway that I can try to squeeze a few more MPG’s out of it? Thanks.

A: 113,000 miles isn’t too bad for a civic, I bought mine at 175,000 and that was five years ago, and it’s still going strong. And mine’s a ‘95. But it’s not neccesarily a good thing. A 2000 might get about 30 to the gallon, I’m not sure how to check but you could ask a mechanic. You can’t force a car to give you more miles per gallon than it has though. To even try would cause problems.

Q: i am planning to buy a honda cr-v 2000? help!?
Hi- I am buying my own car before summer ends and i found a honda cr-v 2000 ex with 50,000 miles on it for sale by dealer. I have a honda-civic 2000 and i am planning to trade it in. This is my first time buying a car does anyone have any suggestion, opinions and advice. How much would an estimate monthly payment be on a 10,000 dollar car- my civic will probably be downpayment of 5,500. My credit- I have a college loan that I am paying off slowly so I don’t know what that looks like. He said it will 8% interest rate if i have good credit. Also anyone know of any good insurance companies for cars in northeast region. I am a bit scared because I make 2000 a month- my rent is 675+60 cell ph+ 100 food+estimating at least 200 or more for gas for the cr-v+ car payment. anyone ever done it.

A: Good choices on the Honda but on 2000k a month why not get on older model and no have payments. 8% is BS I’ll bet you get closer to 10% I’d trade that civic for 5k for something around 6-8k and wait until you school loan is paid off. Good feeling to drive a car with no payment.

I second the progressive ins suggestion they are decent….but stay far away from american with poor quality control….They pay little $$$ to have them assem in other countries and then rape you with price tag and repairs.

Q: I need advice from a professional car sale person?
I am selling a 2002 hyundai with 150k miles with clean interior andd I want to trade it in for a 2000 honda civic with 170k miles. What should I say to the one selling the car, so he agrees to trade. I need to say something that will make that person agree.

A: Your car is two years newer and has 20k less miles on it. Drive home those points. You might book them out on the internet to see how they compare in price. If your car is worth more, bring that point up too. If not, avoid that issue.

Q: Where can I find a custom Civic Coupe 6th Generation for sale?
I am looking to purchase a custom Honda civic preferably a 6th Gen 96-2000 and am willing to drop 2500 to 3000 in the Chicago area or surrounding areas, please post to see what’s available in my area thanks…

A: Go to craigslist.org for the Chicago area, or look at autotrader.com. Private parties would be the best but if a dealer has one you might have to get on your negotiation hat.

Q: Honda Civic 2007 for SUV Trade or Re-Sale – Best Option? Advice Needed!?
I recently purchased a 2007 Honda Civic DX Base Model about 4 months ago, at a price of $17,500, plus $2000 down payment including Tax/Licensing/Plate/Deaer Fees, for a total of $19500.

I have owned it for 4 months now, financed the car for 4.9% APR for 5 years, and I currently owe $16k on the vehicle, at a monthly payment of almost exctly $300 per month, with 4.5 years remaining.

The car is in pristine shape, no accidents, or damages. It has about 7500 highway miles on it, and looks and drives perfectly new.

I obviously love the car, but I think I need a bigger car – an SUV would be great.

Can someone give me advice on what I can do to either (1) Trade my Honda for a comparable SUV? or (2) How I can re-sell it outside of a dealership for best value?

Should I go to a dealership? The same Honda dealership told me that I can trade it in for $13k, which seems ridiculous to me. Help?

A: The 2008 CRV’s are on the market dropping the price on the 2007 CRV.

http://www.craigslist.org is a free site for advertisements. Perhaps list the CRV for $20K and see if you can make some money after you pay the loan.

Q: can any one tell me a little bit more about a 2006-07 honda civic si???

Q: How can I insure a high resale of my Honda?
I have a Honda Civic 2000 LX sedan, with about 220,000 miles on it, which, according to sites like edmunds.com and autotrader.com makes it worth about 4,500 as a private sale and 4000 max as a trade-in. What I would like to know is whether I can do something to make worth more. Im thinking of something along these lines: buy a B-16 engine with fewer miles on (less than 100,000) and sell it for more. The thing is, I dont know if this will cost me more money in the end…should I just sell it? Should I do something with the paint? :( Any help would be greatly appreciated!

A: Fix any dents/scratches you can find on the car.

Put some racing stickers to make it look like an ultimate racing machine, e.g windshield stickers (Be awared that there’s a size limit for windshield stickers depending on the state you live in) Buying an engine will cost you heaps once again, so personally I’d not suggest to upgrade the engine.

And clean the space below the seat with a vaccum cleaner, make sure there are no snack bits stuck between seats. Those are small details, but the buyer will notice it. And take the car for a car wash. Fill the fuel as a promo.

When a potential buyer visits, show them that you are good with cars and that the car is well maintained in aspect of cleaness and mechanism.

Or if you are on in a hurry, use “dead dog on the table” tactic. Advertise it for a higher price first, put “Neg.” (Negotiable) next to the price. When the potential buyer comes and try to slash the price, pretend you don’t really like the price, let it go down a bit, when you want the deal done, say something like “That’s a little bit lower than my expectation, but I am ok with it”
e.g For sale starting from 5499. Neg.

The purpose is to counter a price slash, so any attempt to slash the price will not work too effectively since the car has 220,000 miles on it already.

Remember there’s a limit second hand sales. You can’t get something like $20000 out of it.

When the potential buyer comes, start showing them the cleaness of the car, and identify their needs: do they simple need a car or they like a cool car? If they simple need a working wagon, tell them that the engines are well maintained and flick the lights on to show them that everything are just as good as new, and show them the fuel efficiency of the car. If the buyer is looking for a handsome car, tell them it comes with freebies like seat cover (Which will cost you about only 20$) or custom bumper/rear etc (If you have them) and filled tank (Optional, since petrol price is high these days).

Don’t spend too much on freebies unless you find really low cost ones. Use what you already have.

It’s the same tactic people use for real estate, you have to make the car look new and appealing, so when the potential buyer sees the car, they fall in love with it.

Q: Purchased a Car that came out to be stolen can i sue ?
On thursday morning i saw a ad on craigslist for a 1999 honda civic ex 5speed for $2000 firm … i call the guy and told him if you can bring it down to me and if it was in the conditions he stated it was i would pay him the $2000 .. he brang the car i test drove it .. i check the vin compared it to the vin on the panels and inspection stickers on the car .. everything matched up perfectly .. i had the title to the car i park the car in my driveway .. i go to geico .com to add the car to my policy to insure. the next morning i go to DMV in elizabeth nj to register and transfer the title to the car under my name . They tell me that the car has been reported stolen out of paterson nj ..I went crazy .. i tried calling the guy back he didnt answer my calls.. i went online and saw he had more add’s with the same phone number for motors transmissions doors parts to many cars for sale..so i went to the house of the person that was on the title he didnt live there anymore . a lady there gave me the phone number to the land lord of the property which knew the original and real owner of the honda civic..i talked to her and she said the car was stolen from paterson nj .. i told her i paid $1850 for it last night and that i had the title and everything .. So by this point i already knew that the guy that sold me the car was definitly not the owner.. So i called the guy that sold me the car under a different phone number posing as a new customer to purchase one of his motors and transmission he picked up quickly when he saw a new number! so i told him i would meet him with a flat bed or a mini van to pick up this motor… i went to paterson police spoke with the sergants and detectives and i explained to them that i had an arrangement to meet the seller of the car to get more parts .. i also expalined to them that i am in the sellers eyes a new buyer .. so we parked at the location that the guy wanted to meet .. the same 3 people that came to deliver the car when he originally sold it to me all showed up with him .. and the cops did a big surrounding around the car they were in a old 1993 beat up nissan pathfinder which turned out to be stolen aswell.. then the motor and transmission they intended to sell me was in the trunk of the car… they were all taken to paterson police.. the car i purchased got taken buy paterson police.. They are investigating why the original owner of the car would even leave his title in the car no one does.that .. i wanted to know if under the curcumstances.. can i sue the guys that sold me the car for fraud or what can i sue them for including the acomplices they had .. and what about the original titled owner of the car/? i am out of $1850 ..

A: yes, you can sue the guy who sold you the car. and don’t be surprised if the “real owner” is a party to a fraudulent insurance claim on the vehicle. Work with the cops on this one. It’s your best shot at getting your money back.

Q: Buying my first car in the USA what are the Requirements in california?
My situation is i am from the UK and I am a US resident so I have no idea what the rules are and what to look out for and what to steer clear of. Sorry if there’s alot to answer but this is the unknown for me ;o)

I have my US drivers license sorted so no problems there.
I am looking at buying used probably a 1990 honda civic spending no more that $2000 and buying private
what do I need to do in terms of paper work, titles, salvage titles, smog test etc etc

Do I need insurance to test drive a car ?

and how does the process run ie. i buy a car what happens next at the point of sale with the seller do i send anything, sign anything to the the dmv or do they ?

and if anyone can shed some light insurance requirments and insurance costs in the bay area for the above car I know its a mine field when it comes to costs but im in my mid 30s and I only intend to insure the car just liability

anyway if anyone can shed some light on these questions or if there are anything else I should know that would be great

many thanks in advance :D

A: Wrong, Wrong, Wrong.

If you are purchasing a car from a private party the first thing you should do is have a mechanic of your choosing inspect the car for road worthiness. In the U.S. car sales between individuals are legally considered “As is, where is ” transactions. Once you buy if, it’s yours, and have no recourse against the seller if the car has mechanical problems. Second, is NEVER buy a car unless the seller can deliver to you a “clear” title at the time of sale. Otherwise you may have problems when you try to register the car.

At the transaction, you pay the seller for the car, and the seller gives you a bill of sale, a CLEAR title, and signs the title. It is the sellers responsibility to have the emissions inspection (smog test) done and give you documentation (CVC 24007 (b)(2). In California the license plate STAYS with the vehicle.

Take the title (pink slip), the bill of sale and the emissions certification the the DMV. If your local office requires an appointment, make one. It will save you hours of standing in line. The DMV will require you to pay the approperate sales tax on the purchase price of the car, along with the pro-rated registration fees. The DMV will now register the car to you, and it becomes legally yours. Now, immediately purchase insurance, it’s required by law. You can’t buy it in advance because you don’t own the car yet. That’s basically it. Happy motoring.

Q: Concert Goers! Question on seating, HELP PLEASE?
I know I’m late because the tickets went on sale in March and it’s mid May now
but I didn’t know I could make it to the event up until now!

so here’s the question, are balcony seats any good at concerts? It’s a Paramore/Tegan and Sara/New Found Glory concert, and everyone is there for Paramore probably but I really want to see Tegan and SAra and I’m flying half way across the world to see them.

General Admission tickets are sold out, 2nd level are sold out, 3rd levels are wayy too expensive for seats possibly not so great, and I’m stuck with the upper level terrace! I’ve never been to a real concert before, only little gigs in my little town! No one famous at all!

I really wanted General Admission tickets but the only available ones are $1,080 each! and I HAVE to take someone with me, but either way, I don’t want to/can’t afford paying $2000 for concert tickets!

I really need to make a decision now, but I need to know if the upper level terrace seating is any good =(

It’s at the Honda Civic Center in Anaheim, California and I’ve no idea how the center really looks like from the inside!

A: Why don’t you go to one closer to home?

Have you already paid for the plane tickets? If you have, might as well go and enjoy the experience. Living in New York, and only attending shows in NYC, Philadelphia, and a couple other littler towns nearby, I don’t know what the Honda Civic Center looks like. But with the concert experience, especially seeing Tegan and Sara, it’s nice to see them up close but even if you can’t it is still absolutely fantastic. The first show I saw them at was one of the last ones I believe that they were in a small-ish venue and therefore I was pretty close to them and it was really cool. But the two shows I’ve been to since then (and as will probably happen when I see them in August) I have been pretty far away because of quick people who have the money to buy the better seats and get there quickly anyway. Even far away, I still love it. Even just the atmosphere, you know? So if you’ve got the tickets and are going regardless, I suggest you buy the tickets that are available and hope for the best. I mean, if you would be so obnoxiously far away that you couldn’t see them, I bet they would have screens and stuff. If not, you’re probably close enough =)

Good luck and I hope you enjoy the show!

A: It is a fair price at a dealership……high if it is a private sale.

Don’t buy into the Honda/Toyota hype. American cars will last just as long. I have a 2001 Sunfire with 111,000 miles and a 1996 Blazer 4×4 with 135,000. They both run great and have very few problems.

Q: I need wndow parts for my 2000 Honda civic. Where can I get them cheap?
More specifically the front manual window regulator. I’m in Dallas Texas.

A: you might try a auto recycling yard (junk yard)

Q: Why can’t I find normal/cheap exhaust parts for my 2000 Honda Civic?
no OEM (way over-priced), no high performance! I just want some cheap, normal sounding exhaust parts for my car. I want a downpipe, cat, and catback system. Please let me know where I could find parts like this cheap on the internet!

A: Those should be simple to find – but consider this – an aftermarket cat and downpipe will not significantly change the tone of your car, so you should consider the less expensive “performance” pipes and cats available.

However, you will not find a decent cat back that won’t change the tone of your car – the stock system is restrictive, and quiet because it is restrictive. Most aftermarket parts out there focus on performance. You should be able to piece together a system rather easily, however, and mate it around a decent, quiet muffler sized to the pipes you get.

I put together a “cat back” system for my Tacoma, stepping up to US size pipe using sections of mandrel bent pipe, straight pipe, and welding in a Thrush muffler to replace the obscenely expensive OEM piece. I could have just as well gone with a much mellower muffler, but I wanted cheap and reasonably sized. Point is – I spent about 60 bucks on all the parts, and I have a mandrel bent system that works.

Q: Where can I buy OEM parts for my 2000 honda civic coupe ex?

A: Dealer
http://hondapartsnow.com/
http://www.rockauto.com/
Those are the 3 I always use.

There’s also eBay, just watch out for fakes or parts that may not be “new”.

Q: What parts do i need to convert a Honda civic 2000 automatic transmission into a manual transmission?
i just wanted to know how much it would cost, what parts do i need and were i can find them, i would appreciate it thank you

A: More than buying a manual car. The parts needed are the tranny, tranny mounts, ECU from the manual car, COMPLETE engine wiring harness from the manual car, flywheel from the manual car, clutch master cylinder, hydraulic lines, shift linkages, axles, shifter, shift knob, shift boot, center console to accept the shifter, the three pedal assembly because the automatics brake pedal is too large and too far to the left to allow travel of the clutch pedal, and someone whi has done this conversion before. I would HIGHLY suggest getting NEW parts for this because used parts are nothing but trouble. Our shop does this for between $5000-$8000 including parts and labor.

Q: what’s a good website to find performance parts for my 2000 honda civic si?

A: www.jcwhitney.com they have all sorts of performance parts for Honda and Toyota.

Q: 2000 honda civic part number?
my car came from singapore and it was built with only the lower control arm. the thing is it hard to get the part here and even harder to come up with a part number. am trying to get the info so i can buy if from the US but i have no info the car has aD15y4 eng. and the vin is JHMES86902S200808. I dont think any1 gona find the vin to b correct but dats wat came with the car
thanks for any help/advice

A: Call a Honda dealership and talk to the parts department. You can describe to them what you’re talking about and they will give you a part number if you ask. It helps to act like you’re interested in buying something too.

Q: will parts for a 99-2000 honda civic fit a 94 honda del sol?
fenders exaust, front and back seats. all cosmetic not like engine or anything

A: no del sol parts are different than both the 5th Generation Civic 92-95 (EG) and the 6th Generation Civic 96-00 (EJ/EK).

you can do the front end conversion if this is why you are asking, exhaust is prolly similar, but not the exact same.

Q: Where can you get stock honda parts? I’ve been looking for some 2000 Civic Si wheels and cant find em.?

A: PartsTrain.com I have dealt with them before for parts for my Toyota. But they have all different cars on there..

Q: Where can I find a photo of a standard 2000 Honda Civic muffler assembly with a part number?

A: I suggest searching local junkyards. You should be able to find them on the web. I suggest a site like www.yardquest.com or www.partrequest.com.

Q: how much horsepower will these give my 2000 honda civic ex?
i bought this civic and it came with dc racing exhaust and greddy hedders. i think this car 127 horsepower stock how much do you think it will have with these additions? i want to know because i plan on putting more aftermarket parts on it.
to john d, what do you reccomend i get?

A: 10 is probably correct, maybe slightly more, if you really want beneficial hp increase you have to increase air supply and fuel supply as well, think of it as a balancing act. sure you will get some increase by doing one or two of these things. but to get full potential you need to balance all three together to get as much out as possible individually

Q: I have a 2000 Honda Civic Hatchback dx and i want to swap my automatic transmission to manual. Wat do i do?
Tell me what do i need to get or do. Or any websites i can get the parts from.

A: you cant its cheaper to just buy the manual version

Q: what kinds of motors will fit a 2000 honda civic dx coupe?
My engine just blew and im looking for one thatll fit. Please give me expected prices and aditional parts that would have to be changed in order to fit it.

A: D16Y7 1.6liter is the one that should be in there, anything that is OBD II and D-series will fit in there.

many civics that year swap out for the more powerful B series motor but it involves changing transmission axles computer etc.

so depends on how much you are willing to spend.

little bit of money: get a D16 non-vtec
average D16 VTEC
more money B16 or B18 or H22 prelude motor.
really rich get a turbo k20a2 turbo.

Q: i can’t find Honda civic Si for cheap so should i just buy 2000 civic ex with D16y8 but can i make hp w D16y8?
if i can please tell me how, what parts to use and other bolt on parts. now i have 1997 honda civic ex. i just installed an exhaust system i took the cat out and installed a straight pipe. But it still have no power. im selling it. and ialso lower it about 2inches. i looks nice but i really wanted get s 2000 model civic.

A: Turbocharge it, you’ll easily make more power than a B16A swap, even with the stock engine (assuming it’s healthy). You could build your own kit for around $1,500, or buy a pre-assembled kit for $2,500-3,000. On top of the kit, you’ll need an engine management system, to pay a professional to tune it (for the most power and for reliability), and possibly injectors (if the kit doesn’t come with them).

Q: I drive a 2000 honda civic sedan FWD automatic transmission. It is a great car but very slow. What motor and?
modications can I put under the hood to get 250 Hp of performance without going turbo or supercharged and how much will it cost for the motor and parts? How much will it cost for installation.

A: What you really need, is torque. Horsepower is just a number calculated based on torque. It’s a common misconception, but basically horsepower is just an imaginary unit.

Another thing to consider, is horsepower versus wheel horsepower. If you start with a vehicle, such as a Honda Prelude, with “200hp”, you actually only have around 140 or so at the wheels. Adding an Intake, exhaust, the normal things…will increase you to around 160, but will not increase you to 220. Your engine stays at 200, until you alter the actual engine.

In any case, sell the car. Buy another car that starts off with higher performance, and one that isn’t FWD. Even if you end up making the power you want, the FWD will start causing traction and steering issues.

Q: Where can i get a cheap honda civic 2000 turbo or supercharger?
i would like something in the 200-500 price range preferably less
thank you!

A: hey…for $35 dollars…you could get that cheap as5 supercharger that goes into the intake tube….its there and gives you 5hp…just like getting 5 extra hp from just having the vtec sticker…its a supercharger atleast….lol

A: once your breathing mods are done i’d do the ecu, you could get a shop to chip it for your setup for a pretty low cost ($80 give or take) but don’t take it to just anywhere use a well known shop. other than intake, header, exhaust and ecu tune there aren’t really any other cheap mods with great gains, unless you consider cams, intake manifold, fuel pump, injectors, flywheel etc cheap, you can get some of these at a reasonable price but not real cheap. you could get a hondata intake manifold gasket for around $60, and if you don’t live in a cold climate you could bypass the tb coolant lines (for $5 maybe), that will keep your IM cooler, won’t be real significant but it is an improvement. some freebies would be getting rid of weight, and remove the power steering belt because that car is light enough to turn relatively easy without it. you could also remove the a/c belt (if you don’t mind the heat), getting rid of that parasitic drag won’t be a real significant change but for such an easy free improvement… why not. make sure your plugs and wires are in good shape but unfortunately upgrading them will not make much of a difference without upgrading the distributor, coil and so on.
hope i gave you a few ideas at least, keep in mind the mods i said you could do for cheap or free are not exactly wow mods but they are a step in the right direction without having to spend much money.

Q: where can i find a good 96 – 2000 honda civic engine for cheap in philadephia?

A: Best thing to do is call a big Honda parts supplier bec now a days you can order a used low mileage Honda engine from Japan and get it shipped for 400.00 to 600.00 in total. In Japan their smog laws are more strict so many vehicles there get scrapped with 90,000 kms or so on them and they test the engine fully before shipping too.

Hope that helps and best of luck.

Q: what is a quick, cheap and easy way to beef up my 2000 honda civic 4 cyl sohc std. shift? ?
the car has a header, exhaust, and cold air intake on it now and it need something. I am replacing the valve guides, seals, and timeing chain soon so i will have the head off of it.

A: well since your doing that you might as well go ahead and get some hotter cams and little bit larger injectors. its that or get a turbo or nitrous. you could port and polish but it wouldnt be worth it since it doesnt really net that much more hp if the ports are matched accurately already. if you wanted you could also get a new clutch and lighter flywheel. while those dont make more hp generally speaking it does free soem up with the lightweight flywheel and the newer and higher clamping force clutch will allow you to use more of the hp that the engine provides to the wheels. if you plan on getting a light flywheel be careful because you have to rev the engine higher to get the car moving compared to stock. all has to do with physics and rotating mass.

there is also the possibility of an itb setup but i dont know if there soem out on the market for stock civic engines (only guessing thats what you have)

anotehr possibility is an engine swap but since you already have I/H/E on youre money would be gone from those upgrades

Q: Where can I buy a front passenger side window for a honda civic dx sedan for cheap online?
I am looking for a passenger side front window for my 2000 Honda civic dx sedan for cheap. I have checked the local junkyards and have had no luck.

A: Try ebay motors…

http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?icep_ff3=1&pub=5574690244&toolid=10001&campid=5336430272&customid=&ipn=psmain&icep_vectorid=229466&kwid=902099&mtid=824&kw=lg

If you don’t already have an ebay account, you should get one – it opens up a whole world of bargains. Just make sure you buy from a seller with a 99% or better rating and over 100 sales. I have never had any problem as long as I have followed those guidelines.
Good luck!

Q: I need wndow parts for my 2000 Honda civic. Where can I get them cheap?
More specifically the front manual window regulator. I’m in Dallas Texas.

A: you might try a auto recycling yard (junk yard)

Q: what are the cheapest upgrades for a 2000 honda civic ex?
im really new at cars and just want to start off with the little things, i have a stock 00′ civic but i dont know where to start for the mods

p.s. can i just bring my car to the car wash and spray the engine with water to clean it or do i have to clean it by hand?

A: basic upgrades:
-replace the air intake- AEM is a good brand
-change/replace the headers- DC sports….etc.
-change/replace the exhaust pipes…two or two and a quarter inch is good
-buy a quick shifter
-coil over springs
-cams
-upgrade the clutch
-spark plugs and spark plug wires
-and a lot more…………you could either buy it brand new or used (craigslist.org)

*yes you can but try to avoid spraying the “electronic stuff” like the fuse box or anything that has to do with wiring.

Q: can 2000 honda civic fit 2005 honda civic seats? would it be easy and cheap, or hard and expensive?

A: i work at honda of america in marysville ohio. and i can tell you that it will be easy. we haven’t changed anything in the seats for about 8 yrs. front ones anyways. hope it helps.

Q: I have a 2000 Honda Civic and I need new tires. What would be a good cheap brand and how much would it cost?

A: Yokohamas are relatively cheap for their value. Kuhmo is also a good tire for less. Tirerack has this one for $38 each for your car:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Kumho&tireModel=Touring+A%2FS+795&partnum=865SR4TAS795&vehicleSearch=true&fromCompare1=yes&place=1&speed_rating=S&speed_rating=T&speed_rating=U&speed_rating=H&speed_rating=V&speed_rating=Z&speed_rating=W&speed_rating=Y

10 FREE hp. Good luck.

Q: Where can I buy used transmission for 2000 Honda Civic in Toronto?
Its manual trans, does anyone also know any Honda/Acura tuner shops that may replace the transmission for cheap??

A: Try your local auto dismantler. In the yellow pages. Some may also install.

Q: What is the best way to achieve lowering with great ride quality in my 2000 Honda Civic Ex?
I heard through my research that cheap coilovers and lowering springs cause a very bad and bouncy ride quality. I want to lower my Honda possibly 2 inches, not too low but want to get rid of the ugly gap on a decent set up of 16″ rims. I forgot the tire size but it’s not a big tire. Any help is greatly appreciated! any thoughts on camber kits, new shock, etc. would be helpfull!

A: Get good quality of lowering springs if you want to lower your car to ensure good quality ride. Also this will not ruin your camber and suspension. Try TEIN and JAMEX lowering spring for your civic. Hope this help!

Q: Replacing plug wires? Honda wires or Auto Parts wires?
I will be replacing the spark plugs wires on my 2000 Honda Civic EX (159,000) this week. I called Honda to get a price on the wires and they’re about 75 bucks. My dad works at an auto parts store and gets a very good discount. My question is…Is there really a difference between the Honda Wires and an Auto Parts wires? Will it be ok if I just get the wires from an auto parts store? There’s a huge difference in price and I’m not really wanting to spend much money at the moment. Thanks =)

A: Not really, if you get a good set of wires from an autoparts store it will pretty much be like OEM Honda ones anyways. Dealers love to charge you lots of $$$ for even the smallest things, (I remember needing a bolt and the dealer wanted $8 for it…… 49 cents at home depot) you should be good to go with wires you get through your dad. You can also check out http://www.sparkplugs.com they also sell wires.

Q: What Would Insurance Be On A Male 2000 Mustang ?
I have good grades, and a drivers discount ?
If i can’t get a mustang ( if insurance is to high )
I am thinking about getting a VW Jetta, or Honda Civic !

A: Wow, what a world of difference. I live in Canada, don’t drink alcohol, no claims on previous insurance and no accidents, I have a ‘93 4 door Civic, pay $160 a month. A mustang (as a primary driver) is going to run you FAR more than that. Most mustangs are 5L engine, 200-300 horsepower, compared to ~100 for a civic. It’s a performance car, and they’re going to assume you are driving it as such.

Q: Electrical or Alternator??
I was driving on the interstate, my lights went dim and my car died, replaced the battery and 3 days later car is dead again, went to discount auto parts had them check the alternator they said my alternator was fine, I have a 2000 Honda Civic LX. I was involved in a car accident less than 2 weeks ago and was hit on my drivers side where my door opens and she cracked my wheel cover, I have not had any problems with my car till now…so is it electrical??? or the alternator…..I got prices to get my alternator fixed:
Tire Plus: 350
Honda Dealer: 450

PLEASE HELP!!!
my car has not been fixed yet…still waiting on insurance check…
the battery is on the passenger side, i was hit on the drivers side..does that make a difference?
when the battery is charged i can start my car…when i idle the car dies but when running it wont die, 2 days ago…when i got my car to start..i drove it down the street and none of my gauges worked…the rpms or the odomiter.

A: If the alternator checked out fine, then the problem is that the battery is not charging. The reason it keeps dying is that you are running off of battery power, and not power generated by the alternator.

It works like this: when you start your car, the battery is the power source for the starter. As soon as the car is running, a relay will switch over to the alternator, which then provides all of the electrical power in addition to charging the battery. At that point, the battery is getting recharged, and not used as a source of power.

If this relay mechanism (it might be a bit more complicated than just a relay) is faulty, then you will constantly run on battery power.

Don’t go to a honda dealer, they’ll charge you more than double what it should take to fix this. Any decent local mechanic will be able to find this, it’s not a difficult problem. I’m betting the relay or a contact was jarred loose during the impact, but that’s just a cyber-diagnosis and I could be completely wrong.

Worst case will be, as one person wrote, a pinch in the wiring harness. This isn’t a difficult problem to diagnose, but actually fixing it could be time consuming and expensive, as you need to find exactly where the pinch is. Labor ain’t cheap.

Q: Why are 2010 corollas cheaper than 2009 civics?
Toyota offered me a corolla s for 11700. That’s with trade in,but still. They offered me 2000 more than my trade in is worth, 2000 in discounts and 1000 for a student discount.

Honda offered me an 09 civic for 16777. “with discount” supposedly. And the fair value of my trade in..leaving it at 14777.

11700 vs 14777? Obviously I’ll take the corolla but is toyota going down? Or is something going on that I don’t know about?

A: I hate to say it and I will probably get a thumbs down too, but the Civic is more technologically advanced than the Corolla. That’s not why it cost more though. Honda is always coming out with new technology whereas Toyota tends to stick with what works. There are advantages and disadvantages to both sides. Advantages are that the Civic always has the latest technology but due to constant change, Honda is lacking in supporting cars over 10 years old. For example, try to purchase a new A/C system for a 1995 Civic. Honda discontinued them. I know that from the experience I had with my brother-in -law’s 1995 Civic bcak in 2005. Luckily, the aftermarket has the Honda owner’s back.

Toyota on the other hand, has many advancements too but they are usually late to the party. Not a problem because they use what works well and don’t change too much mechanically. That means you can go into a dealership and buy a part for a 20 year old Toyota. If they don’t make it, it will be interchangeable with another Toyota. For example, my old 1974 Toyota Corolla needed a new carburetor back in 1993. the dealer couldn’t find one but discovered that it was interchangeable with a 1985-1987 Corolla SR5’s carburetor. Very cool.

Q: Should I buy an SUV?
A guy at my work is selling a 2006 SUV for $4000 under blue book for $20K. Or I can get a brand new Honda Civic for a little less, but the dealer won’t give a much of discount because he said that people are buying the civic at retail price due to demand.

The SUV will cost me about $2000 more per year on gas, but the blue book on the SUV is higher. Which vehicle do you think is a better deal?

A: Neither. Buy a reasonably fuel-efficient car that isn’t a little crackerbox.

Q: Should i buy a 2000 Honda civic si or a 2000 honda civic EX but later swap the d16y8 to b16a2?
i allready have b16a2 engine but no transmission so what should i do?

A: well you’ll need a trans, axles, shiftlinkage and ecu… you can find that stuff for 7-800.. your call.

the Si will always be worth more.. but if you like wrenchin on honduhs then just get the ex…

or get a lighter model civic if your doin the swap anyway.

A: “www.craigslist.com or www.autotrader.com to find a used car. If you use autotrader, try to find the car at a dealer. that way you know its been checked, tested, and with a warranty. private sellers can screw you.”

Q: Should I buy a 2000 Honda Civic Si with a rebuilt title?
Should I buy a 2000 Honda Civic Si with a rebuilt title?
CARFAX: 1 owner 98,000 miles Structural damage no issues reported to carfax
declared total in 6/03/09 but was rebuilt in 8/18/09 $5,800 out the door

The car seems to run well. The engine seems to run smooth with no noise.

dealer repeatedly claims the the accident that totaled the car was a severe rear end collision and nothing to do with front damage near the engine.

To Answerers: if you say it is not a good buy is it ever ok to buy a car with a rebuilt

A: Check Kelley Blue Book for fair market value, $5800.00 seems like a lot for that vehicle. To be considered totaled, it must cost over 70% of the car’s current value to repair. The Civic Si is a high performance car, and it probably was driven like one. 98000 is reaching maximum life for this high-compression, high RPM engine. Suggest not buying unless you can get some kind of written warranty, or a huge reduction in price. I would suggest never buying a car that the insurance company has considered “totaled.” Good luck!

Q: Where can I buy used transmission for 2000 Honda Civic in Toronto?
Its manual trans, does anyone also know any Honda/Acura tuner shops that may replace the transmission for cheap??

A: Try your local auto dismantler. In the yellow pages. Some may also install.

Q: where can i buy airbags for a 2000 honda civic?
my honda needs new airbags where can i buy them online and where can i get them installed?

A: My recommendation is do not buy ANY airbag unless they’re OEM Honda factory parts. You might be able to find them on eBay, if not then go to a Honda dealership and try to get them. It’s rare that people even sell airbags because usually when people part out their cars, the car was totaled, which caused the airbags to deploy.

Q: Price for a Clutch on a 2000 Honda Civic EX?
I am looking to buy a 2000 Honda Civic EX and it is in good condition except it needs a new clutch. I was wondering what the cost for one plus installation would be.

A: depends where you go if you go to a clutch centre your looking at 200 plus for it to be installed.

Q: Should I buy a 2000 Honda Civic Si or 2000 Acura Integra?
The civic has about 140,000 miles on it with some decent mods and a set of winter tires, fenders are slightly rusted all the belts and such have been recently changed. this is under market value. now, the integra is the best looking used car ive ever seen which is why he is asking about 6500 for it but thats way above kbb and edmunds and i just feel like thats too much. i dont know a ton about cars and just cant decide but if anyone can please offer me some advice. the integra has about 115000 miles on it and is in better physical condtition but i am going to take such good car of whatever car i buy is the 25,000 mile difference that big of a deal if i take car of the engine? any help would be appreciated.
the civiv isnt in that band shape, just a few more miles but it has all the normal engine sthings prelace as well as “strut” or “support” bars or whatever, and intake, it has a tiny bit of rust on the fenders but he has an extra pair of fenders that would just need to be painted (even though both the car and fenders are already black) and then a tiny bit of rust in the right rear well but i think i can be buffed out. kbb and edmunds also say the price for the civiic is under market value while the acura is over. so i agree the agree is a bad idea. its just i need a car now and both these cars i like and are hard to hind in my area.

Q: is 100 k miles to much for a 2000 honda civic?
i want to buy a honda civic and i found a 2000 for $4400 with 100k miles. is that to 4400 to much to spend?

A: no that’s fine i would pay it for that and the mileage is above average but not to worry its better to buy a high mileage car than a very low mileage car it will have more life in it it will live longer because more wear happens in a car when it is cold so doing all those miles a lot of it was when the car was warm and there wouldn’t be as much wear as if an old lady had it doing 5 miles a week for her shopping and did half that mileage it should be a good little run around i would try get a test drive and if it drives fine no noises or bad vibrations then it should be ok up to you really but that’s what im saying good luck with it.

Go for it.

Q: Should I buy this 2000 Honda Civic LX?
it has 129000 miles on it, and they are asking 6000 on the road. it is a 4 cylinder, the size is 1.6. it drives ok, but when i press on the gas it makes a loud lawnmower like noise. what do u think?

A: well first ofF for an 8 year old car I dont believe the mileage is bad at all.
many people drive 20,000+ a year nowadays! this car averaged about 16,000 a year. plus these are virgin miles to a honda, they are well known to hit the 300,000 mile mark, just keep up to date on maintance and never neglect!
Make sure its not a “salvage tittle”, look for recent “paint work”, check the body once or twice just to be sure, carfax, check underneath the motor for leaks. ask for receipts if any, for maintance work, major repairs done.
The lawn mower noise is normal Hondas do have lawnmower engines in them! lol… j/k!
well that noise can be many different things. It can even be an aftermarket Intake they installed making this noise, but im guessing a “leak” in the exhaust system, exhaust manifold gasket perhaps.
But b4 anything if your serious about this car, u should take it to a shop so they can inspect it for u. they will tell u exactly what they see wrong with it.
6g’s aint bad for this year civic and the miles it has. also 2000 is the last year the “EK” chassis was produce and 96-00 civics have a lot of popularity and never loose their value.
BUY IT B4 I BUY IT!!!!!!!
LOL

Q: what is a good superchip to buy for a 2000 honda civic?

Q: Online repair manuals for honda civic 2000-03?
i need a site that will just let me look at it and print it out, i need it to install a turbo on my civic, i dont know the trim but it doesnt matter for the turbo

A: Autozone.com repair guides. For Civic ‘96-2000, and 2001-2006 models.

Can’t link you to them anymore. You have to go to the site and register. Fill your vehicle info into the profile, click “repair info”, then “view repair guides”.

Alldata is pretty good if you can’t find what you need there, but a subscription for a single year/car is $26.95, not $16.

http://www.alldatadiy.com/buy/

Also, many public libraries have a subscription to Alldata and/or Mitchell’s. Check if they have that there, and if they do, take a thumbdrive to load the info.

Q: How many miles is a Honda Civic 2000 SUPPOSED to run?
So here’s the case.

I’ve got a Honda Civic Ex 2000 and I feel like i’m runnin a lot less mileage than it’s supposed to do. I did a little research online and found out that the average MPG is supposed to be about 31 32ish. After doing the caculation. it’s supposed to run about 308 miles for about 9.5G. But my actual mileage before the gas light comes on is about 200~215. I’ve been keepin track of this for the last 6 times i’ve filled up my tank so this should be fairly accurate.

Before I got my car, it had been sittin there for about 3 years without any proper preservation so that may be the problem… I’m wonderin if there’s any way I can fix that if anyone knows? I’m totally ignorant when it comes to car stuff… So if you guys can please help me out that’ll be great. If necessary, I can post up a picture of the engine so you guys can see what’s up. Person providing the most useful information will get chosen. Thanks!!!
Thanks for the quick replys. I just searched online and found out that the MPG for city is 28 and 35 for highway. Combined MPG would be 30. So my estimation for the mileage should be correct. As far as driving habbit goes, sometimes i do take some heavy steps to rush through traffic, causing RPM to go above 3 and the fuel meter decrease (which eventually increases back). Is that possibly the reason why im gettin less miles? Also, does constantly switchin from neutral to D2 affect my mileage or harm my engine in anyway?

A: On many Honda models, esp the civic’s, your fuel light comes on WAY early because they do not want you running out of gas. I had a 1999 Civic EX coupe and my milage varied based on where I was going. Long raod trips I have gotten just over 550 miles out of a tank of fuel, where in town with a little freeway here and there, I have gotten 2I50. I live in CA in CA and with all these environmental additves they add to fuel, it seems like it effects fuel milage. I have been getting horrible milage lately and have been for quite a few months now. I maintain my car to the max so it makes me believe it’s the fuel.
Having a vehicle sit for that long, 3 years is NOT good. I would contact a dealer service dept and see what they have to say. It’s a good place to start.

Q: Honda Civic 2000 sputters and stalls?
I’m currently having a problem with my Honda Civic DX 2000 Hatchback sputtering and stalling. It pretty much started 2 weeks ago, I remember I almost ran out of gas where the light just came on then, I filled my tank to full. I then drove a few miles and parked and shut off the car. An hour later I started it and it started to sputter and wanted to stall while and actually did a couple times while driving, but it always starts back up. I changed my fuel filter and already went through 3 tanks of gas with fuel cleaner and I’m still having the problem. It mostly does it during a warm start after driving it for awhile and I let it sit for an hour or two and I try to start it (sometimes it has a problem starting at that time) then it starts to sputter and sometimes stalls. I already took it to two mechanics and they couldn’t find the problem or it didn’t sputter/stall for them. What I’m seeing online is it could be maybe a dirty throttle body, ICV or my ECM?. I have after market exhaust, headers and air intake system. This vehicle have no codes showing up. Any suggestions? Thanks!

A: Check your fuel relay (AKA Main Relay), it’s known to cause warm starting issues in civics because it’s not soldered right on the inside and it creates a gap in the connections when it’s warm and the silicon board expands due to heat.

Q: Someone Please Give Me 2000 Honda Civic Radio Unlock Code?
Read online, I think I have to wait till the dealership opens on Monday. My girlfriend picked up her car after getting it fixed (at the Honda dealer!!) and the radio had “code” on the front. I’ve googled it, but can’t find the unlock code. I did find a sticker in her glove box that said a code but someone told me it was the wrong one so I took the radio out (which was a pain!). Anyway, I’ll freely give the number out because I would WELCOME The idea of someone stealing the factory honda radio.
Model Number # 39100-s01-a300
Reference Number # cq-jh5815zc
Serial # m98n247851 (This one is on a sticker on the side of the glove box too)

A: Here is your radio code ~ 21455

Q: For a 2000 Honda Civic si: HELP ME!?
What is the trim called that fits around the door opener handle and the window controls and around your air conditioner vents and goes all the way to those buttons that control your defroster and A/C? The trim in it now is not stock….and I don’t like it. I want to get another color in it, but since I don’t really know what it’s called, I have no idea where to get it. Do you know where I could find some online…or anywhere…and what are they called?
Where can I order them? Can I get them in different colors….like, to match my car?

A: the trim that fits around your driver inner door handle is called “Case, L. Inside Door Handle” and its part number is 72161-S02-A01ZB. (passenger side is 72125-S00-A01ZB)

the trim around the window switches that also makes the inner pull for the door is called “Pocket Assy., Power Window Master Pull” and its part number is 83511-S00-A00ZB. (passenger side is 835121-S03-G00ZC)

the trim around your radio/vents/HVAC controls is called “Panel Assy., Center” and its part number is 77251-S01-A21ZA.

since you car is an Si, there is only one color option stock for each of these items.

Q: Got some scratches on my black honda while reversing..help please?
Hi I was reversing my black honda civic yesterday from the parking lot and got some scratches on the driver side door from the pillar. It is a 2000 honda civic. The sctraches look like long lines. I want to know what will be the best way to get it fixed. Do you recommend using Paint touch up kits? Should I take it to body shop ? I do not want to spend lot of money as I bought this car recently and I am a student. so cannot spend so much money again. I read online that paint touch up kits work well..

A: i would just get some black gloss rustoleum in a bucket and a fine paint brush and paint that on.

Q: i’m trying to sell my car…honda civic 2006 42K mileage on it and having a hard time. I’ve put it online?
everywhere it’s free….so my newspaper record…craigslist list..and the free car ad…I’m trying to sell it for 10K with no luck…i receieved a car from a national car trading company that will try to sell my car for a one time price of 89.99. I looked them up and they seem legit. my question is…will they really be able to sell my car? they also said they might be able to sell it higher than my asking price. do these companies really have it like that? i’ve been trying for three months now and have reduced my selling price $2000. I’m kinda desperate.

A: Don’t lose hope. I tried for months to sell my motorcycle on Craigslist but after about a month of posting it on the eBay classified section (which is also free) I sold it.

So FREE:
-Craigslist
-Kijiji
-eBay Classifieds

Some effort:
For sale tag on the car at all times and local listings posted outside the town hall or other really public places.
