Q: How many miles can a 2001 honda civic go up to?
Assuming that the car is well taken care of how many miles can a honda go up to before it breaks down completely or to a point where repairs exceed the market price of the car.
I’m thinking about buying a 2001 civic with 124k miles.
Thanks!

A: HI . . .
The luxury sedan Honda Civic can take you to a thrilling top speed of 210 kmph. For more details non this car . . .try the following link

Q: Is it possible to use the Honda Civic Type R 2004 headlights on a 2001 Honda Civic hatchback?
I have a 2001 Civic Sport SE Vetec and would like to change the headlights to the Type R 2004 headlights if possible. Also, If anybody knows the model number to the official Honda Type R headlights, that would be most helpful.

A: if you have the 2001 7th gen shape (EP) then yes, they should fit, the 6th gen shape continued to halfway through 2001 (EM1), so if its the 6th gen shape, then no it won’t. (by the way its VTEC)

I Don’t know the model number im affraid, but the type-r lights shouldn’t be any different to the SE ones, apart from the JDM type-r headlights, which have smoked effect internal plastic, just search on ebay, my advice is ask at a Honda dealer, and just make sure they will definately fit — honda may have changed mountings or fitments between 2001-2004, or even a slight re-design — im not 100% sure..

Q: How to find out if my 2001 honda civic lx 2d has a keyless entry system?
I am trying to find out if my 2001 honda civic lx 2d has a keyless entry system already installed. I was wonder if someone could tell me where to look in my car to see if I have it. I have power locks so i dont know if that means anything. Also if im pretty good at installing things is it easy to install if i buy the system off line? Thanks for your help!

A: the 2001 Civic LX did not come with the factory keyless entry as standard equipment. It was available as a dealer installed accessory. The easiest way to tell if you have it, provided the original owner didn’t lose it is to see if you have a remote transmitter. If you have an oval shaped black key fob with lock and unlock buttons that says “honda” on it, you have keyless. If you don’t have the fob it may have been lost but the overwhelming odds are that you don’t have keyless entry on it.

With patience you can install the factory keyless remote system with little problem. I have the instructions from the one I put on my 2005. They are the same system. I bought my kelyess entry system through my honda dealer shortly after I bought th car. The install kit should still be available.

If you would like a scanned copy of those instructions to install the factory system you’ll have to send me an email with a real email address. I cannot attach a file to a Yahoo Answer. to do that, click on the icon above my name to the left of this answer and click on ’send email’. include your return email address in the reply and I’ll send you the instructions.

You may want to price the system before you decide to do this. there are aftermarket systems available at stereo shops and alarm installers as well as at Best Buy, circuit city and others that are probably much less than the Honda system. Plus, they’ll do the intall for you.

Hope that helps

Q: Is the 2001 Honda Civic 2dr LX considered a sports car?
I am gonna be getting a car soon and the car i always wanted was the 2001 Honda Civic 2dr Lx and my dad is giving me loads of crap about it 2dr cars. My dad thinks that “ALL” 2 dr cars are sports cars.

A: if it has 2 seats, it’s usually considered a sports car, but some insurance companies consider 2 door cars sports cars

Q: How much does it cost to paint a 2001 Honda Civic LX coupe black?
I am looking to buy a 2001 Honda Civic LX coupe, and its a really good deal, but its bright gold. How much would it cost to have it painted black? I am able to spend upwards to 600-700 dollars, but wouldn’t mind spending less. At the same time, I don’t want a cheap job done and have my paint flaking a year later. Thanks so much!

A: u will not get it done for that much unless u go to someone who does it on the side, a shop will charge anywhere from 1500up

Q: Where is the catalytic converter on the 2001 honda civic lx sedan?
Can anyone tell me where the catalytic converter is on the 2001 Honda Civic LX sedan? Really need help here. Thanks!

A: Tommy, for a 2001 Honda civic, its attached to the Exhaust manifold and can be found by lifting the hood and peering through the engine bay.

Follow the link >> http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/auto/jsp/mws/catimgs/13s5a01_e04.png << The indicator '4' refers to the catalytic converter location.

Q: Is a guy driving a 2001 honda civic a turn off to women?
I’m 30 yrs old & drive a scratched up 2001 honda civic…
Is a guy driving a car like this a turn off to girls?
Is a guy having a nice car important to girls?

A: As long as you can handle the stick, you’ll be fine. lol

I think your Honda shows good judgment. It’s practical, functional, the vehicle type is very long-lived, and you can afford it.

A nice car will attract nice girls. If you want to attract superficial, snobbish and spoiled girls, buy or rent a BMW and go way into debt. But that isn’t you, is it?

Good luck with your love life.

Q: How do I replace my stock headlights and tail lights on my 2001 honda civic ex coupe?
So yeah…I have a 2001 honda civic coupe and I just got new projector halo head lights and tail lights.
A) What do I need to know about head lights and tail lights before I start?
B) How is it done?

A: Best thing to do is get a repair manual for your car if you plan on working on it. Its the best and quickest way to learn the in and outs of your car. Removing your headlights should be covered in there.

Q: How much can i sell my 2001 honda civic for on copart or other auctions like iaai?
I have a 2001 honda civic clean title, looking to sell on auction. Maybe you have sold one or bought one, I would like to know the price. Thanks

A: hello – I work for Copart.

If you will send me some more details, I will be ahppy to look that up for you. I need yr, make, model, trim level, miles and any damage.

Shoot it to me in an email and I will pull a quote for you.

Q: How Does A 2001 Honda Civic Handle In The Snow?
I’m considering getting a 2001-2005 model Honda Civic, I know they are reliable and last a long time, but I have no clue what they’re like in winter weather. I live in northern Vermont so we get lots of snow/sleet/freezing rain and I’ve always had a 4×4 car so this would be my first front wheel drive car. I’d obviously get winter tires, but how are Civic’s in snow or ice?

A: same as anyother front wheel drive /ok i guess

Q: what’s the best way to soundproof a 2001 honda civic?
I’m trying to figure out the best way to soundproof (or just quiet) the road noise in my 2001 Honda Civic 2/door. It’s kinda loud at 70mph. All answers that are legit are appreciated, especially those from others who’ve done it already. …Undercoating, additional carpet, new carpet pad, etc, etc???????
Thanks
Rick

A: Plain and Simple…….

Take out all the carpeting, and paneling and Dynamat it. Dynamat is mainly to keep your car from rattling due to the power of a system. But the reverse effect is also good it will keep sound out. This will provide a nice smooth, and queit ride perhaps some Bach to enhance the experience.

Q: What is the average miles per gallon on a 2001 Honda Civic?
How can I find the average miles per gallon on a 2001 Honda Civic LX? It is a 4 cylinder.

A: 32/37 city/highway or 32/39 on a manual depending on the engine, 31/38 with an automatic. Users on the fueleconomy.gov Web site have reported an average of just above 34 mpg, which is just below the combined 35 mpg predicted from an average of 55 percent city and 45 percent highway driving.

Q: How much would it cost to tune a 2001 honda civic?
I want to make my 2001 honda civic have the doors that go up, a remote car door opener, a nice engine, a deep base exhaust, nice suspension, an electric blue paint, white 18″+ wheels, blue under car neon lights, blue in car neon lights, nice electrical system, and astonishing interior. How much would it cost?

A: I’ll just go ahead and break it down for you, since I’m working on the same type thing right now.
Based on what I’ve found:

Lambo Doors: around $700
Keyless Entry: $45-$90
Engine: anywhere from $200-$1000
Exhaust: $400-$600
Lowering Sport Springs: around $150
Paint: not too sure, probably around $600, you’d have to ask a shop
Rims: $300-$700
Underbody Neon: $130
In car Neon: around $150
Interior: around $2000 probably, you’d have to ask a shop.

Total: between $4675 and $6120.
With the charges in labor and whatnot, probably another third of that, if not twice.

It adds up quick. Hahaha.
Hope this helps you a little.

Q: What are the best subwoofers and amplifier/speakers for a 2001 Honda Civic LX?
I have recently purchased a used 2001 Honda Civic LX and I am looking to later put in a sub enclosure of 12″ subwoofers and replace the factory speakers and possibly include an amplifier and/or tweeters. I do not want to spend too much money but I would like to get the best for what I would be spending. I do not know too much about auto audio so any help would be greatly appreciated.

A: it depends on what your willing to spend and subs and amps are not vehicle specific so you can go with anything you havent really narrowed it down for us
good luckthough

Q: i am looking at purchasing a used 2001 honda civic with 123k miles and a rebuilt title.?
plz i need to know what i need to look out for before i purhase the car.also what paperwork is involved if i finally purchase it, how much does renewing registration on a rebult title cost, does it need to be inspected before i buy it. am i gonna have a problem registering it cos of the title. any detailed answer would be apppreciated

A: Do not do it! I work for an auto dealership and we run into many problems with rebuilt titles! it takes months to get everything straigthened out with the title and you are just going to end up spending more money than needed! The vehicle would need to be state inspected before you could get a new title for the vehicle! and if you try to sell it yourself you are going to have alot of issues selling it!

You would possibly have to get a salvage certificate which allows you do to a number of things with the vehicle, ranging from scrapping it for parts to rebuilding it for resale.
On the application you will provide the reason for the vehicle being salvaged, which will ultimately state what you intend to do with it. Plus, you will need to fill in the purchase price you paid, take an odometer reading, and write in the vehicle identification number (VIN). Your old title will need to be turned in with the application.
The fee for a salvage certificate is $20.
But unfortunatley with it having a salvage certificate you can not run the vehicle on the road! which at this point is when you can rebuilt the title! This is the reason an insurance company is required so quickly to send in an application and the title to the Motor Vehicle Administration if you retain the vehicle. The Motor Vehicle Administration seeks to ensure the vehicle is accounted for as salvage. This measure is to prevent the vehicle from being repaired and sold with the existing title, without a record of the salvage state. it is possible to rebuild the title which at that point you can get a regular used vehicle title!
One thing you would have to do is go through salvage inspection. The inspection is intended to ensure that the vehicle and/or its parts have not been stolen. The vehicle still must undergo a safety inspection before it can be registered!!!! and normally your state police would do the inspection! After you go through all this you can finally get the title in which you would need the bill of sale, the odometer statement, safety inspection certif., the app. for the title and the salvage certificate with the inspection stamp! The title fee is normally around $25!

Q: Opinions on purchasing used honda civic 2001?
OK so its 4000 dollars it has 112,000 miles and there is nothingwrong with the car, although it has salvage title. But there isnt anything wrong with it.
Is it a good deal? (its not a vtech its a regular 4 door sedan)

A: have the car checked out by a mechanic before you buy

Q: I want to buy a used 2001 Honda Civic…is $6500 too much??
A friend of mine is selling his car he wants me to pay $6,500 for it:

2001 Honda Civic LX Sedan 4-doors
139,000 miles
5 speed
6-disc cd changer
drop-down DVD player
Power windows/locks
medium-sized dent on rear of car
scrapes, some minor body damage (not very noticeable)
leak in AC system – needs new hose
needs new air cabin filter

DO YOU THINK HE IS CHARGING ME TOO MUCH OR IS $6500 A FAIR PRICE FOR THIS CAR?? I LIVE IN MISSOURI.
no he is selling it to me “as is” meaning I have to repair the AC hose and the cabin filter.

A: The private party value on Edmunds.com (which is more accurate than KBB) is $3,200. Even if you gave it an overly generous rating of “clean” (“average” is much more accurate considering the body damage and other repairs it needs) it’s only worth $4,800.

Tell him to dream on. There’s no way he sells that car for more than $4,000. No way, no how.

Q: i’M LOOKiN FOR A USED 2001 HONDA CiViC COUPE $700-$930 iN GOOD SHAPE..?

Q: i am thinking about buying a 2001 honda civic used. It has 223km asking $6,500 obo. Is it worth it?
It is a 2 door automatic and has been highway drive.

A: you can get a a same year civic with lower miles in this much money. this civic shouldn’t worth more then 3K-4K.

GOOD LUCK

Q: What are the Automatic Transmission Ratings on a 2001 Honda Civic DX?
How much power/torque will the stock automatic transmission from this car reliably handle without breaking? The transmission is a 4 speed automatic. The 2001 Honda Civic DX uses a D17A1 engine that develops 115 bhp and 110 lb-ft of torque stock, if that helps. Thanks.

A: You dont want to increase the horespower by much a little wouldnt hurt but too much and it will eat up the clutches inside not to mention bands, servo, planitary gear, etc

Q: 2001 honda civic headlights and dashboard question?
I just got a used 2001 honda civic EX, I was playing around a little to get to know switches and such and came across the left handle it has off lights and highbeam .. when i turn the lights on the dashboard comes on and radio lights do too .. When I shut off the car lock the door I waited like 50 seconds lights didn’t go off on dashboard or radio and the headlights didn’t go off .. I don’t want to leave the headlights and interior lights on running because I’m afraid that will waste the battery .. is it suppose to stay on for a little while or do I have to manually switch it on and off each time I drive ?

A: Yes, you will have to turn it on and off manually each time you drive. In nearly every car you get you will have to manually turn off the headlights every time you turn off the car (Unless you get one of those nifty ones that does it automatically :] ).

Q: How often do I need to have my A/C system serviced?- 2001 Honda Civic?
How often do I need to have my A/C checked. I just bought a used 01 Honda Civic. I dont know if it has ever been checked. Should I get a leak check and refrigerant level check? Air blows cold but I dont know if it might be able to blow colder.

A: The usual guide is “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. If the air is cold, it should be fine. You CAN get it checked and it shouldn’t cost a lot. If they have to top off the refrigerant, it, too, can be done at a minimal price.

Q: Where can i buy a new/used trailer hitch part for a 2001 honda civic?
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated

A: Are you looking for the entire hitch or just a part for it? I found a website which offers all sorts of hitches and accessories. They also have a page where you can find answers to most questions you have about hitches and receivers. If you are looking for the part that goes on your car, that is the receiver. Check out their site to see if they have what you are looking for.

Q: What motor oil do I use for my 2001 Honda Civic LX coupe?
I bought the car without the car manual and I want to know what oil do I use.

A: it may say on the oil cap or call a parts store they would be able to tell you

Q: Is Honda Civic in 2001 worse than it in other years?
I am about to buy a 2001 Civic EX which has about 60k mileage on it. It is a good deal from good people. However, when I checked Carfax, there were concerns about transmission failure and many other things, about 22 recalls so far.

Is 2001 a bad year for a used Civic? Anybody has more knowledge on it? Thanks a lot!

A: With that many car facts on it I would steer away from it, honda’s and toyota’s are the most recalled cars going.

Q: 20-25 MPG on 2001 Honda civic after changing the distributor, what could be wrong?
Hi,

The MPG of our 2001 Honda Civic used be around 35 until one night it broke down in the highway. The next day, our mechanic told us that the distributor had to be replaced and he did so. Ever since then, we’ve got the engine check light on and the MPG significantly reduced to 20-23. The irony is that now the mechanic is saying that the catalytic converter is the source and it should be changed for approximately $900. I think it’s a rip-off, how would possibly both the distributor and the converter fail at the same time?!!! Could somebody please tell me what I can possibly do to fix it? I really appreciate all your comments.

Thanks,
Amanda
Thank you all for your prompt answers. I will definitely take it to other shops soon. It’s funny I didn’t even know that I could find reviews of the mechanics online! Any good place to check out their reputation?

A: Don’t deal with just one mechanic at one shop. Shop around.
If more than one shop tells you the same thing, you can be pretty well assured that that item is a problem.
However, if each shop tells you something different, then you keep on looking until you find the best deal or solution.
It is time you get “friendly” with other Honda owners and find out where they get their cars fixed at….because word gets around who is good and who is a rip.
Hope you still have the old distrib. because if that was the only thing changed and your fuel consumption dropped right after it, the “new one” is to blame.
That only makes sense.

Q: Good Price for a 2001 Honda Civic EX Automatic?
Car has 101,000 miles

This car is for sale & I want to buy it. The seller wants $5900. Am i paying too much for this car & mileage
According to blue book Im getting a deal, but I dont know anything about Honda’s (this will be my first)

A: good price.. have them do the timing belt and water pump before purching it

Q: Need to buy a replacement RH headlight for a ‘01 Civic EX coupe – do the headlights vary for coupe vs. 4 door?
Looking for a -
2001 Honda Civic EX
Passenger side headlight

I found a few headlights for sale on eBay that said they were for a 2 door OR 4 door ‘01 Civic EX but an auto shop I talked to said the headlights were different for the 2 door and 4 door – so who’s right about this?

A: I just looked up the factory original part numbers for the headlamp assemblies and they are different for the 2 door and the 4 door, they also look different. The aftermarket ones may ‘fit’ both to an extent-the brackets for the bolts appear to be in the same location, but I wouldn’t trust buying parts if they are not specific. I’ve had too many claim to be correct that don’t quite fit right and require modification.

Q: Should I buy a Honda civic or Nissan Sentra? ?
I am moving from Texas to New Mexico. I have a rental house, but still have a TX drivers license. I think New Mexico has much less sales tax than Texas. Any suggestions? Also, I have a 2001 GMC sierra 4.8 V8 to trade or sell, whats a good trade in value on it? Looking at Gunn Honda in San Antonio. No haggle! GMC sierra runs great but has check engine light for EGR valve, small amount of hail damage to hood.

A: Personally I would buy a Yu-Go, but thats just me. Honda Civics are too overrated. Wouldn’t you rather drive something that you can fit in the palm of your hand?

Q: Does anyone have a glass’s guide?i want a valuation on my car…..?
ive been on what car and parkers and they vary quite abit so i was wondering if anyone had the dealers handbook glass guide?

its a 2001(51) honda civic 1.6 SE executive 5 door with 106k on the clock, taxed and mot’s till next year,in very good condition through out.

after a quick sale if anyone knows anywhere that buys for a good price(not like webuyanycar.com)

thanks

A: I’ll suggest that you just browse through www.whatcar.co.uk and get yourself a good deal….

Q: I saved up for a brand new car….?
My first car was a 2001 Nissan Altima but now I’m giving that to my 16 year old brother who is learning to drive and I saved up for a new car. I have 17,000. My parents gave me $3,000 but the rest I earned and saved up. My parents are willing to give an extra $2,000 if I need it. I like the following cars:

Toyota Corolla 07- $14,405 starting price
Honda Civic 07- $15,010 starting price

I’m a college student. I want to buy it at the end of the year because it’s clearance sale so…yeah. I’m a great driver though and I’ve only been in 1 accident while switching lanes (small accident). Which car is better?

A: I had a Toyota Corolla before and I absolutely loved it! It drove great and the gas mileage was excellent! Good luck to you and congrats on the new car!

Q: Scam , scam scam scam?
Hello Honda owners,

I just want to give you all a heads up.The company Scissor Door Inc. that sells the flip flop hood. Its a scam they took my money and didn’t ship anything,Service Sucks, Sales Sucks

DON’T BUY ANYTHINNG FROM THEM.

i OWDERED A FLIP FLOP HOOD AND SHAVED DOOR CONVERSION FOR MY 2001 CIVIC THEY WILL KEEP YOUR MONEY.

A: If this happened then report that company to BBB [Better Business Bureau] and/or your States Attorney General…you may get your money back at least.

Q: Help me make a car purchasing decision (long question)?
In this economic climate I’m not eager to take on a new debt (my only current debt is a student loan), but my 01 Civic is reaching a point that I’ve realized I probably should bite the bullet. My car (black 2001, mid trim model with 64K) has been having transmission issues for the past few years and it’s now apparent my torque converter is going. After researching the likely problem, I’m finding that a lot of 01 or 02 Civics have transmission problems and that replacing the torque converter, or even replacing the whole transmission doesn’t always solve the problem. Plus, she’s looking a little beat up and I would love to have key-less entry and some other basic options. But I don’t know what to get.

I want something that’s a good value, reliable, safe, and has a sunroof. I know that last one isn’t a feature that makes financial sense, but I work freakin hard for my money, live in the sunshine state, and spend enough time in my car that I really think I deserve this. I’ve looked at a lot but have focused on the Honda CRV, Toyota Rav4, and Mitsubishi Outlander. I want a small SUV so that I can sit up higher in traffic (and would only purchase another sedan if it was ridicuously cheap…with they’re not). I like the look of a Highlander or the older model Honda Pilots and I’m not averse to buying used, but I really don’t know what I can do.

As for price, I really need to keep it under $300/month. I’ve got excellent credit and can qualify for a credit union loan as low as 3.1%. However, this is for a new loan at a teaser rate, so depending on my timing and what I buy, it could be as high as 4.5%. I can afford more than $300, but I don’t want to be one of those people who spends so much and I realistically want to keep my monthly payment at $275. Every dollar above that makes me feel like I’m spending too much. I’ve calculated the blue book on my 01 Civic and I know I could make more in a private sale, but I’ve never done that and I’m worried about getting scammed. Also, I’m an extrodinarily busy teacher and don’t think I have the time. In a perfect world for a trade in I could get $6500 for my baby, but with her cosmetic scratches and dings, some engine work needed, plus the fact that she’s been in two accidents (no major damage, but accidents just the same) I am telling myself I will only get $5000.

All of the car matching profiles (CarZen, etc) say that my ideal car is the CRV or the Rav 4. However with the price I want to pay, I can’t afford new versions of those with the moonroof option. And I would have bought used by now but I’m seeing new listed at $25k with used and 35,000 miles being listed at $24,700. I know there is room for negotiation, but I’m also scared of getting something used with the risk for issues later in its life. I mean, I bought a Honda new thinking it would never have issues on me, but the dang thing started shuddering at 45K. If I was to buy used, I wouldn’t even consider it unless it was certified and had some type of warrenty remaining.

So my questions are this:
Should I try to negotiate a new Honda or Toyota at my max price range without the sunroof?
Should I try to buy a cheaper vehicle (Suzuki, Mazda, etc) new b/c they have a cheaper price and a longer warrenty?
Should I buy a used? Obviously I know this would save me more, but the worry factor for me is huge. I’m willing to pay a little more for peace of mind, but I don’t want to be stupid. If I buy used, what realistically would $275 a month + $5000 down get me?

A: I would get off the Honda/Toyota high horse. You see what happened to your current indestructable, holier-than-thou ricewagon.

The Chevy Equinox is as good as any and may fit your requirements at a lower price. Other than that I’d look hard at negotiating. Dealers are hurting I’m sure you know and you should be able to get 2-3k off sticker easy. Look at the papers religiously as well. Most of the time a good sale will beat any negotiating you can do. It’s all in timing.

Q: What parts are needed to lower a 2001 honda civic ex correctly and safely?
I know ill need springs or whatever but waht about camber kits and anything else. what is an exact list of all the pieces needed so that i dont have to worry about breaking anything

A: Struts, springs, camber kits, labor, and an alignment.

Q: How easy is it to replace a wheel bearing on a 2001 Honda Civic?
Mechanic is estimating $280 to replace my right front wheel bearing on my 2001 Civic…the part is only $85. How hard would it be for me to do it at home?

A: I would not do it and I’m a fairly good mechanic….there are times when you know better to attack something you shouldn’t.

Q: where’s a good place to shop for honda civic parts?
Im looking for a GREAT website to shop for civic parts. i own a 2001 civic ex and im lookin for some good parts. most sites only own a couple though. so wheres a site that has many many parts to choose from?

A: http://www.andysautosport.com/honda/2001_2003_civic/

Q: What tools/parts do I need to buy, to replace the brakes on a 2001 Honda Civic?
I am going to replace the brakes on my 2001 Honda Civic (DX I think). I’ve not done a major car repiar before.

I am puchasing the Chilton manual, but it won’t arrive from Amazon for a week. I’m ready to follow the instructions in the manual, but would like to get a heads up on the parts/tools I’ll need before it arrives.

I have a basic tool box. What will I need beyond that? And what brake/car parts will I need? What about jacks? I have the generic one in my trunk. Is it worth getting something different?

I’m reasonably handy, but this’ll be my first real venture into car repair. I’m scared! :’ )

Thanks for your advice.

A: You will need a break caliper Allen Wrench it is just a big sized Allen wrench. This vehicle should have disc breaks. Also a nice big C-Clamp works real well on pushing in the break caliper cylinder to be able to put the new pads in. You can bleed the breaks but I prefer to open the reservoir cap so air can escape and slowly use the c-clamp to push in the break caliper cylinder. Be very careful to not push it in crooked, push on one side then the other evenly and make sure it is not crooked. This will be less mess and save you some break fluid. Good luck.
Also about a floor jack and jack stands you can buy these at Walmart or at the auto parts store, ask the guy at the auto parts store to point out the parts and tools you need. It is worth buying the jack and jack stands if you are going to do this repair and others again in the future. It is MUCH safer with the right equiptment. Good luck

Q: Will my 2001 Honda Civic Cold Air Intake work on my 1996 Honda Civic Ex?
Bought a 2001 Honda Civic Ex and Sold it. Still have the parts left over. I just bought a 96 Ex and am wondering if I’ll need to get a whole new part.

A: Honestly I would Say No.
Only due to the fact, that One, its a different generation model.
Two Motors are most likely not the same, Vtec to r-type etc.

But most likely that Air Intake is made directly for 7th gen civic, you now have 6 gen civic

Q: what is the difference between a 2001 honda civic dx 5 speed and a ex 5 speed?
I have a 2001 honda civic dx 5 speed and I’m tring to buy parts for it and some of them say “ex only” and I want to know the diffrence is.

A: 2001 Civic DX has a non-VTEC engine whereas compared to the EX model that does have VTEC. That’s why when shopping for parts, they ask you that question. Other than that, the DX is the lower-scale model available without options such as power windows, power door locks, power mirrors.

Q: Is the Catalytic converter for a Honda Civic, Ex 2001, part of the manifold?

A: no. it’s part of the exhaust system and located near the muffler.

Q: What are the right struts for my 2001 Honda Civic?
I have orginal parts and they are blown. I am trying to decide what are the ideal struts to replace them with. Honda, KYB, Monroe or Tokico? I am a light driver mostly in town.

A: If you like the ride comfort then go with Genuine Honda struts. KYB and Tokico are more of a tuned strut rather then comfort but handling is better. Stay away from Gabriel struts. Good Luck!

Q: does anyone know how to install A/C on a 2001 honda civic 2dr coup DX model?
i bought a honda civic with no AC and got all the parts. is there a way that someone can tell me or give me an advise to how to install it?

A: Honda used to make a factory A/C kit for dealers to install on the DX models. That kit came with step-by-step instructions. If you go by a honda dealer and go to the parts department they should be able to print off the original kit instructions for you at no charge.

if you can’t get them to do that, email me and I’ll see if I can find a copy to scan for you.

hope that helps

Q: Where is a reliable online store to buy aftermarket headlights and tail lights for a 2001 Honda Civic?
NOT EBAY!!! NOT AMAZON!!!! I am looking for a reputable dealer because I am tired of ordering parts that are missing things needed for the installation.

A: I have used procarparts.com many times. They always send me what i ordered. You can also check out summitracing.com and jegs.com Im sure they will also have what you are looking for. You can also go to your local Auto zone, advanced auto parts or O’rileys and they can order them for you but it will cost more going threw a store (middle man markupss). Good luck.

Q: Replacing a 2001 honda civic tail light help!!!!?
i have a 4 door honda civic we bought the part but of course it didnt come with any instructions!!!! so if you have any clue on what i need to do to change the light cover please help!!!! my car needs to get washed and i cant do it until i change that piece! please

A: You may want to buy a Honda Civic Service manual from your local auto parts store; it makes a good investment.

But typically, you should find several nuts holding your tail light from the inside of your trunk. Use a ratchet wrench and the right sized socket to remove the tail light. Disconnect the wire harness and remove your old tail light. Attach the new tail light and bolt it securely then reconnect the wire harness; make sure you have the right tail light bulb inside.

Good luck!

Q: 2001 Honda Civic battery light?
I have a 2001 Honda Civic and the battery light came on the other day and of course my car wouldnt start again. I dont know if it is my alternator or what that is broken. Can someone tell me what it is and where i can buy the new part from?

A: I would find it hard to believe an alternator is bad in your car since it’s only 5 years old. That’s about the time most batteries start to go bad.
You’ll probably need to replace your battery if you’ve never done that since you got the car. The best way to see if your alternator is working is to test it with a voltmeter. Since I doubt you have one of those, take it into a shop. They should be able to test it in 5 minutes and tell you if you need a new alternator.
You can get a battery at any auto parts store. Ask for a gel cell battery AKA maintenance free battery. They’re a little higher in price, but you don’t have to add water and usually last a year or two longer.

Q: 2001 Honda Civic – Blowing #10 Fuse/ Shorted Wiring?
A little bit of background information first: I have had my 2001 Honda Civic for a year now. Since I’ve bought it I have had to bring it into numerous auto repair shops to get it fixed (thanks to it happening after my 30 day limited warranty). Randomly, the #10 fuse blows. Before, it would be when I first started the car, now since I’ve been getting replacements for parts that are connected to this fuse, it has only happened while driving the car. So far, I have replaced some SRS related parts (like the seat belt tensioner and a part inside the drivers seat), the safety shift harness, and the shift solenoid.

The last time this occurred, I had taken it to Honda to get regular maintenance done. When they went to get my vehicle, the #10 fuse blew again. But I had to wait over the weekend to get an appointment. Ironically, on Monday when they went to look at it, they put a new fuse in and it didn’t blow. Honda insists that they can’t do anything unless the fuse blows again – and keeps blowing, which I have been waiting over 3 weeks for it to do.

I am beginning to think that there is a shorted wire that is located along the #10 fuse, which is causing it to blow randomly. I have a suspicion that it is located along the a wire that is possibly connected to the reverse lights, because I have found out through Carfax that it was in an accident on that panel years before I purchased the vehicle. Could the problem be as simple as a shorted wire? I have asked Honda this, but they don’t want to take off the panel if they can’t first prove that it is coming from there.

Any help or insight is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
It is the fuse located in the number 10 slot (7.5 amp) in the under the dash fuse box. That is the only fuse that has ever blown for me. When the fuse blows, my all of the dashboard gauges goes out (gauges fall and the little display showing the mileage goes out) and my reverse lights do not work. And during this time, my car seems to jolt when coming to a stop, no matter how softly I brake.

I have been trying to follow the connections to the 10 fuse from under the dash by using a Haynes manual. From what I’ve found, it appears that there are many complicated parts including the gauge assembly, multi-plex control unit, reverse relay. But you would know better than I, if these parts could really be causing the fuse to blow. I’m hoping it is something much more simple. Also I’m not sure if this is any help, I just had my battery checked by Honda (along everything else included with the 60k mile inspection) and there didn’t seem to be any issues with it.

Thank you for taking the time.

A: If you could, please add what items stop working when the “#10 fuse” blows. I think you are saying that a 10 amp fuse is blowing (a fuse with the number “10″ on it and that your are not referring to a specific “#10″ fuse)

The confusion lies in identifying what circuit is affected. Honda has two fuse boxes on your car. One is under the dash below the steering wheel and the other is under the hood in the passenger rear of the engine compartment. When you look in your owners manual you’ll see that the fuses in each of those fuse boxes are identitied by numbers. The under dash fuse #10 controls the meters on your dash board (speedometer, fuel gauge etc.). The #10 fuse in the underhood fuse box controls the pump for your Anti-lock brakes. There are many 10 amp fuses in both boxes.

so we can possbily help you narrow down the cause if you can let us know what items stop working. That’s the answer to the question “how do you know the fuse is blown?”

fuses burn because there is excessive current flowing through the circuit. current is measured in amperes or ‘amps’ for short. As current flows through the wires it generates heat. too much heat melts the fuse in an overloaded circuit. Think of a toaster, blender, garbage disposal and lamp all plugged into the same outlet at home and popping a circuit breaker because of a high load–a fuse is there to protect the circuit from damage in the same way a circuit breaker does in your home.

a “short” in technical terms is a direct path to ground that bypasses the devices in the circuit. Real “short circuits” will cause a fuse to blow immediately because of the extreme current flow from battery to ground. I dont think you have a short in a technical sense. What you have is a problem with excessive current flow that takes time to burn the fuse. That can be caused by having the wrong light bulbs in a car or by several other reasons all depending on what items are on the circuit.

so if you can let us know what’s not working when the fuse blows we might be able to help you out.

hope that helps

Q: Where can I get a Good Reliable Catalytic Converter for my 2001 HONDA CIVIC EX-2 Door?
Replace Catalytic Converter on 2001 Honda Civic EX (165K miles)?
I had a PA State Inspection last week. Passed and the mechanics all said my car was in great shape. They did not even need to recommend any services in the near future.
This week was another story… the engine light came on. I called my mechanic and he told be to bring it in. They ran an emissions test on it and the code came up for my Catalytic Converter. He told me that it would prob. have to be replaced at around $1,000.00. However, he suggested that I may want to consider buying a new vehicle since I already have 165 k miles on it. This suggestion is no suprise to me. I just thought I could get my Honda Civic to at least 200K miles before purchasing a new car.
Also, financially, I am not in a position to buy a car for at least another year…only making a part-time income.
Can I get away without replacing the catalytic converter? Do you think my civic can run another year with this “default?”
If not where can I get a Good Reliable Catalytic Converter for my
2001 Honda Civic Ex-2 doors.
Be specific in what I need to purchase, so I have all the parts I need when it comes time for installation

A: $1000 are you kidding me? that is outrageous, a catalytic converter is only a couple hundred dollars and is a 2-3 hour job depending on rust if you mechanic is charging over 200 dollars an hour its time to find a new mechanic, go and find a certified mechanic. better yet calla round they can give you quotes for a catalytic converter, at max it should only be $500 if you are afraid or cant do it you self. Catalytic converters can be bought from auto zone, i bought a high flow catalytic converter so I can not tell you exactly how much.

to replace a catalytic converter, its just a few steps and items needed

(1 hydralic jack, 2 jack stands, 1 creeper, a set of metric socket wrenches and sockets if doing it your self)
1 catalytic converter , and matching gaskets
The amount of nuts and bolts for your catalytic converter(usualy six and make sure u get all the same size and same size as last time)
Thats all you need for parts

Steps,
1. Jack your car up and set stands up properly under the car
2. make sure car is secure and pull e brake up
3. Lay on the creeper and slide under the car, look at your bolts on the catalytic converter(just look for the same pipe that you bought) if they are really rusted you can try to crank them off and brake them(its ok this is were your new bolts come in) if you cant get them off spray it with wd40 and try every ten minutes(keep spreying it if you cant get them off) if you cant get them off lower your car and take it to the shop continue down if you got it off
4 put in the new catalitic converter and new gaskets and then bolt each bolt up make sure you do one little by little and move to the next until all fit snug( but not to snug or you might crack the gasket) if all is well and its on
5 lower your car(move jack stands first) and then pop your hood and take off your negative battery cable for a minute or so and then pop it back on(this resets the computer) turn your car on and lit it idle get back on the ground and see if there is any leaks around the gaskets on the catalytic converter. if not you are good to go, if there is tighten it a little more if you cant you tighten it to far and cracked the gaskets

Q: 2001 honda civic car deck fits 94 vw golf?
my golf’s stereo is done, there’s this guy selling his 01 civic deck for cheap, i just need something to get by? does it fit my golf?

A: anything can fit if you really want it to. i would say hold off for a junkyard find or a really cheap after market find. my girl used to use a disc-man for a while. maybe that can be a temp option for ya.

Q: What is the cheapest coil over kit I can get for a 2001 honda civic?

A: check ebay. but then thay are pretty much just crap anyways.

Q: How much to replace a 2001 Honda Civic EX front bumber?
I had a minor fender bender on the freeway. I was sideswiped on the front left corner. More or less, my front bumber needs to be replaced. What is the cheapest way I can get this done and how much should it cost.

A: the cheapest way will be to buy a bumper at the dlrshp about 2 to 250 for a new one and install it yourself but if you want it painted and done right take it to a body shop they should charge you about 3 to 400 bucks. anything more their ripping you off .. unless you need more than just a bumper cover of course.

Q: First time car buyer. how about a 2001 Honda Civic?
alright, i’m looking to buy my first car. I really want to buy a pretty good car. I dont want a crappy car that i buy for suuuuper cheap. But i really dont want to spend an insane amount. I recently found a 2001 Honda Civic online. its a 4 door, has power windows and locks, a cd player, its automatic and stuff. they have it listed for about $5,995. That seems pretty good because the Kelly Blue book has it higher than that. it has about 88,000 miles on it. Would this be a good buy? my parents are scared about me buying it because its already 8 years old. They’re scared that i’ll buy it an have to start sinking money into replacing parts. What exactly should i ask the dealer about the car to make sure im not getting ripped off? Like what should i ask has been repaired or replace specifically. And is this a good deal or bad idea?

A: It should be 4-door, 4-cyls, not sporty. I would prefer Honda or Toyota… First time drivers usually have much more expensive car insurance, and it depends from car. You should compare insurance rates while choosing the car – for example here – carquotes.sinfree.net

Q: I’m getting a car audio system for my 2001 honda civic EX coupe and I need help!!!PLEASE ANYONE!?
I am wanting to buy an entry level sound system for my car… I’m wanting to spend under $100 for my reciever, under $100 for my 4 channel amp, and under $100 for both sets of speaker… i’m buying on ebay a few ultra cheap online stores that have credibility so i’ve got some options open as far as brands and quality go…as far as subs go i’m picking between 1 JL 10w3-v3 or 1 JLw3-v2 what would you suggest? also ported or sealed box for a coupe… I have an 800w kenwood class D mono amp that should run my sub becasue the RMS of either is 300w… as far as speakers go I need 6×9 and 6.5 components…how do I know if speakers are worth buying, what do I look for in them? as far as 4 channel amps go how do i figure out which one to get? if the wattage sent out to all 4 speakers is above the RMS of the speakers could they blow??? what kind of wattage should I look for in it??? and lastly; what should I look for in a reciever to run the system I am buying?

A: all sounds pretty good. i would go with a 12 inch sub, as far as mids and highs check to see what the cone and surround are made of. it should be like a woven material for the cone and some kind of rubber for the surround, check the sensitivity level, it should be at least 95db (the higher the better). uhhhh check the frequency response, the wider the range the better. the human ear can hear 20-20000 hz. a good speaker will do 30-25000hz. and finally make sure the watts rms and ohms is compatiable with the amp you get. all amps are pretty much the same just make sure its the watts and ohm ratings you need and go with a popular brand. the wattage depends on the rms of the speakers you get, the rms of the amp and the speakers should be very close to each other. in a reciever you want at least 4 volt pre amp out puts, make sure it plays all formats of cd’s and make sure it has at least 3 pre amp out puts.

Q: I have a 2001 honda civic 4 door dg model very basic… how can i increase the horse power or accleration?
any thing would help–like cheap things i can do to increase…. either 1 would help either horses or accleration! thanks

A: you can put an exhaust system on your vehicle, headers, catback system. also try a cold air induction system. it is all going to depend on how much money you are willing to spend there are several other things you can do. you can upgrade your ignition system also

Q: How much would it cost to make my Honda Civic black instead of silver?
Its a 2001 Honda Civic and its basically brand new looking, and its silver. I recently got it from my brother and I am not feeling the silver..

I figure getting it a paint job to make it black would be cheaper than a more “exotic” color like turquoise or something interesting.

Anyways, how much would that cost?
What is the cheapest color then?

I just hate silver.. and as long as it isn’t white or green either i don’t really care

A: well i have black, love the look but its impossible to keep clean, i’d totally take silver, so much easier to keep up with plus black gets super hot in the summer. but anyway, you can get a macco job for like 200 dollars but they do a crappy job and dont last long, you would save a nice sum of money if you prepare the area yourself and just have someone spray it for you. i dont really think color would make enough of a price difference to persuade you to a different color, its mainly quality you’re paying for, if you plan to keep this car awhile i’d either wait and save up for a good paint job, especially since your paint it fine, or if you’re not wanting to keep it forever just get a 1000 job that’ll last a few years. Honestly if it were me i’d stick with silver, since 1 its in good shape and 2 its very easy to care for. then if you ever get in a little fender bender when you’re going to be getting body work done and an insurance check go ahead and paint it then.

Q: Moving up from a 2001 Dodge Neon to a 2009 Honda Civic Si? Good transition?
I have a 2001 Dodge Neon with 165,000 miles on it (no, I don’t know how it lasted that long). I am getting a new car this fall when I start my first job after graduating from college. I really like the Honda Civic Si (cheap to maintain, relatively good gas mileage, cheap to insure, Honda quality). I loved my Neon and thought it drove very sporty. Will I be happy with the Honda Civic Si (considering that I’m coming from a Dodge Neon)? Comments or suggestions?

A: hell yah best transion in your life lol

Q: How much will it cost to paint my Civic?
Hey there! So I got a 2001 Honda Civic sedan, and it is this tannish gold color that I’m not to crazy about. How much would it cost to paint it a matte red, silver, or dark grey? I want a quality job, not cheap and not like super great but a good one. I would like to keep it under $1,000 though. Can i get it for that much?

Thanks!
ZC

A: if you want to completely change the color, and expect it to be done good, expect to pay a lot more than $1000. By changing the color, you would also need to paint the door jams, the inside portions of the doors, etc.

You could get a Maaco paint job for $500, but dont expect to to be good. It will be far from good.

If you want a decent body shop pain tjob, expect to pay at minimum $2000+

EDIT:
In response the 1st posters claim about Maaco’s $200 paint job: If you brought your mud stained car to them to get a $200 paint job, they would spray right over the mud. Even if you got a clean car, they dont prep your factory paint for respray. They dont tape off your windows, trim, lights, etc. If you want a decent paint job for them, go for the base coat/clear coat paint option (not single stage) and either do ALL the prep work yourself or pay them extra to do it

Q: Honda Civic Maintenance Help!?
I’m replacing my front right and left struts and I took it a mechanic and he quoted me almost $600 for them to be replaced. I hear it’s no where near that expensive to fix. This is what he wan’t to charge me.
Labor: 2 hours at $85 = $170
RF Strut: $144.25
LF Strut: $144.25
RF Upper Mount: $43
LF Upper Mount: $43
Strut Rod Boots: 2 at $15.90 = $31.80
Is this right? Does anyone know of any sites that sell cheap struts? And lastly, so I really need the mounts and the rod boots or can I just use the old ones? Sorry but I’m REALLY strapped with money right now and need your help. Thanks in advance.
Btw, I have a 2001 Honda Civic EX Coupe :)

A: That is really not that bad, the struts run about 125.00 ea. at autozone, the mounts are 56.00 ea. (if you need them) and the labor time is acceptable but it can be done quicker.

It’s not that hard of a repair if you are mechanically inclined.

Q: Where can i get a cheap brake job?
I own a 2001 honda civic LX. whenever i drive it, it has some kind of metal scrapping sound…prob worn brake pads

where can i get this fixed for cheap or cheapest…Jiffy Lube? Pep Boys?

A: Midas or Goodyear should be able to give you a decent estimate but remember…If you take a car in to have the brakes estimated make sure that they are not over the dangerous level because if the mechanic deems them a hazard they may not let you drive the car away, they’ll make you tow it if you chose not to pay for the repair. My husband was a mechanic for 25 years.

Q: Where can I find a Honda B16B (Type R) engine to put into my 2001 Civic EX?
I live in upstate NY around Albany and am looking for the cheapest way. I heard maybe in Japan they can ship one over. Any idea on what the average cost and probability on finding one of these is? Thanks.

A: www.hmotorsonline.com/

They are the best source for Honda engine swaps, they come with a start-up warranty and a guarantee on all of the sensors. I have never heard any complaints about them, and the shipping prices are pretty good, too.

Q: Should i buy a 2001 honda civic or a mitsubishi eclipse gs-t?
I looking to buy my first car and i am deciding between a honda civic ex (01) or a mitsubishi eclipse gs-t? my main question is; is the eclipse of this type reliable?and if you have any opinions on either car or another car please say them.

A: If both are in good shape the Honda will be the better car. Less trouble. Its just a better car.

Q: Should I buy a honda civic 2001?
I have the ability to buy a honda civic, 2001, with 29,000 miles for $8000.

Should I buy it, it has two doors, and not four. I wanted four doors, but I never really use the back of my car.

A: Well, the Honda Civic it self is a really nice and good car. The price seems fair, but if you say that you need that extra back space of your car, then I would really take it into consideration. I saw on tv that civic was a really safety car. Good Luck with your decision.

Q: i want to buy a 2001 honda civic lx?
it has 174K miles on it, and they ask $4,000 for it. is this car worth the money for having a lot of mileage on it for only being driven for 8 yrs?

A: horrible deal. even though civics are known to last well over 200k miles, it still does not matter. thats an awful lot of money to buy a car to drive it for another 1 or 2. unless that civic is seriously modded with over 300hp, there is no way it should be worth that much.

look around and dont just jump into a car because you like it. i did that with my 1st car and i really regret doing it. 6 months down the road and it already started having problems and it ony had 90k miles. almost 100k miles less then the car you want so it would not be a smart idea to get that car. make sure you bring someone who knows about cars before you purchase one.

by the way it seems, you dont have great knowledge about what cars are worth or else you never would have posted this question. with your poor knowledge, you can easily get ripped off and get sold a lemon.

Q: Should I buy a 2001 Honda civic ex?
my local Honda dealer is selling a green Honda civic ex coupe for $8k. It is an automatic and has 106k on it. Should I buy this car? The kbb is $8500 so it is marked down. Would this car last me 7 years if taken care of? The car is a one-owner which is good. Help me out please

A: NO! Way too much and the 2001-2003 Civic auto transmissions are horrible!!! Just do a google search on 2001 Civic auto transmission problems. Anyway I have a 2001 with a manual and it has 218,000 miles on it and still runs good. that said, get the manual.

Q: does anyone know where i ccan buy a 2001 honda civic pasanger outside door handle?
i cant find a place where to buy it and if i buy it from the honda place its like 200 dollars…can anyone help me/.

A: You can try the parts department at www.majestichonda.com
It is all Honda Genuine parts and the prices have always been cheaper than all my local dealerships including shipping. That way you get a new part that you know will work.
If you don’t want to do that, check out the yellow pages for salvage yards, usually there are car make specific ones – there is one in my area that is specifically honda-acura.

Q: Should I buy a 2001 Honda Civic?
The car is a 5spd, 2dr, not sure how much they are asking. I’ve kinda fallen for it already, I plan on going to the dealership tomorrow. It has 123k which kinda worries me (depending on price) but then again my accord has 195K and is still doing fine. I just want to know if anyone has the same car and how it’s doing or if you have any other advice for buying a car. Thanks in advance :)

A: I have a friend who has that same model year Civic and loves it. She has about 134,000 miles on hers. It has held up well, but there have been some repairs needed, but nothing that would be a deal-breaker. I’d say if you like the car, make sure you do your research to make sure you are getting a fair price, and insist the dealer let you take it to a mechanic of your choice for an inspection. Also I recommend you get a Carfax report on that car to make sure it has a clean history.

Q: would u buy a 2001 honda civic with 60k miles on it for 7 grand?

A: yes i would, that’s actually low miles for the year of it,if it was in good condition its actually worth more than that, but if i had a chance at that one id buy it,anyone would, good luck on it.

Q: Where can i buy exterior window trim for a 2001 honda civic?
when i baught my car i noticed that the trim on the bottom of the window (on the outside) was black, but had specks of crome on it. so today i started to scratch it off and i notice the whole thing should have really been chrome but my dealer spray painted it…wierd i know. anyone know where i can buy new window trim?

A: It is not a common part, would suggest a Honda authorised dealer.

Q: Thinking about buying a 2001 Honda Civic. Do you have a civic? what do you think of it?
I am looking to buy a car and would just like to hear what some owners have to say about their Honda Civic. Mechanics input on them would be very helpful like what sort of things go wrong with them and such. Thanks for your help in advance. God bless you and have a Merry Christmas!

A: From what I know about these cars they are very good reliable cars. My boyfriend just bought a 2002 and he is VERY happy with it. He did alot of research before he bought it and found these cars to really hold their value and be decently priced. Try going to this website
http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/cars/index.htm
Its the consumer reports website they have a section on cars and it looks like that can answer your questions.
Hope this helps And Happy car hunting!
Merry Christmas!

Q: General tips to maintain my 2001 Honda Civic?
I just bought a 2001 Honda Civic, can you all provide some tips to maintain it. Like what should I do every so months, how to prevent rust, what should I have in my trunk in case of a car emergency on the road etc.

A: The manual should have the matinence schedule. If you do everything it says on time your car will last over 200,000 miles. MOst people dont do those things and get mad when their car breaks. Oil changes are the most important thing to extend the life of your engine. Change your oil every 3 to 5 thousand miles to keep it clean. Change the timing belt every 60-100 thousand miles.
Rust is caused mostly from salt on roads. If you live in a place where it snows alot you should clean the underside of your car as often as possible when there is salt on the roads.
If you take care of your car all you need in the trunk is a spare tire and everything nessisary to change it. You dont need jumper cables if you change the battery when your are supposed to.
Good luck!

Q: Where can i buy a replacement wheel bearing for a 2001 honda civic? and how much do they cost?
My local shop said my front passenger wheel bearing is going. Anyone know a web sight where i could buy one and how much they cost? If anyone knows how to change them that would help too! The shops looking to charge me $500-$600 to repair it. Thanks

A: http://mibearings.com (MIBearings LLC) has the best prices online for wheel bearings and hub assemblies. Fill out their form on the front page and they will look up the bearings you need and email you the info.
Their bearings are also USA made.
Also…
Bearings should cost $40-$150
Labor should be 1-2 hours @ $70-$150/hour
I hope that helps!

Q: i recently bought a 2001 honda civic ex coupe and am wondering what the best performance upgrades are?
also, audio systems or anything…links are great.

i do not have a big budget for any upgrades but ANY answer that is relevant will be good.

thanks

A: Alright, the 2001 Civic (7th Generation) has a newer engine which Honda didnt use before. The D17 is hard to get power out of with the basic bolt ons (intake, header, exhaust) and more than likely you will feel the car get slower.

The best results that I got from my ride was suspension upgrades. Your car will handle better, corner faster, and you can enjoy it every single time you drive.

As for power, there are a few turbo kits for it but you have to find the few tuner companies that offer it. The car can make good numbers off of it. Personally, I am waiting for the K20 engines to come down in price (RSX engines) since those are good tuning engines and they swap easily into the 7th gen civic. Check out this site, great resource for the civics.

Good luck.

Q: Honda Civic 2001 – timing belt replacement, how much should it cost?
Fiance was just quoted $750 to replace the timing belt. However, I looked around online and saw that one site said it should cost about $180 to replace inc. labor. Does anyone know the typical cost for replacing the timing belt on a 2001 Civic?
Would like to hear from actual mechanics or Honda owners.

Thanks.

A: any where from 300.oo to 400.oo dollars r u in the united states

Q: Low MPG on 2001 honda civic lx, what can be going wrong?
ok so i have a 2001 honda civic lx 4 door, my main concern as of right now is that my mpg is averaging from 22 to 24 mpg, (<250 miles per 10.5 gals) although reading online the averge is between 30-35 mpg. I thought it was my tire pressure but ... its not.. so my only other options are the air filter and fuel filter, so I'll go one day to get a full tune up and see how it runs. any one have any ideas what can be going wrong?
i actually accelerate pretty slow, unless i hit 55-65 mph i dont hit more than 2.5 revs, and i used to accelate alot nd my gas only went up by a little, 20 more miles, so it really didnt do much

i do drive in the city alot going to school and such, but mainly on the hwy

the oil was just changed like 1500 miles ago, and the brakes are fine as well as the tires, the treads have like possibly 3K miles

this low mpg is killin me lol, its my first car so i’m a tad paranoid =/

A: I’m gonna suggest you change the fuel filter. Chances are if your car, being a 2001 model, is still running the stock fuel filter, it is terribly clogged. Restrictions in the fuel lines can cause poor MPG. (approx $30)

A basic tune-up could also be in order (plugs, wires, cap and rotor). This will also help MPG significantly, and is very easy to do yourself. (approx. $100)

Also, make sure to faithfully change the air filter every other oil change, or do what I did on my 2000 Civic and invest in a K&N drop in replacement filter. Not only does it work better than a cheap paper filter, it flows better and you can clean and reuse it using K&N filter recharger kits, which means you’ll never have to buy another air filter ever again! Best $45 I ever spent.

Other than those few things, the only other thing that could be causing poor MPG would be either a faulty O2 sensor (not likely) or some other mechanical problem. Try those basic methods first and see if your mileage doesn’t improve. Good Luck.

Q: CD-R’s won’t work with my 2001 Civic?
I just got a 2001 Honda Civic. It doesn’t have a tape player so I couldn’t use an mp3 converter tape and my FM transmitter is crap. So I went out and bought Memorex CD-R’s. I make 5 of them, but when I put them in my car’s CD player, it just ejects them immediately. I’ve read online that it may be the brand or the burn rate causing the problem, but does anyone know what brand would most definitely work or a possible solution?

A: what you read on the net is right but some cd players just wont play them. so your best bet is to go to ebay and find a cheap cd changer.

Q: how can i put an air intake on my honda civic 2001?
just like posted above, how can i put an air intake on my car. do you know any videos or any good website online that shows you how to do it. also one of my friends(he moved) said he went to auto zone and they sold him just the air intake head for like 30 or 40 bucks and he put it on his honda accord ‘02. have any of u guyz heard about this. well i would like any help possible.thanx in advance!

A: First of all don’t buy those cheap stuff
Get a good brand name like AEM, etc, they always come complete and are very easy to install
Just remove the old one and install the new
Autozone is not a place to buy good performance parts
He probably just bought the filter, you can use just the filter, if you can clamp the filter onto the OEM intake pipe, it’s call ghetto rig,
I hope he oiled that thing, because I don’t think autozone sells any dry filter

Q: Does my car have keyless entry?
Someone told me that my Honda Civic LX (2001) had capabilities for keyless entry. I looked online and I found a keyless entry remote so I read up on it and it seemed as if it should work on my car. I received the remote this evening but i can’t get it to program. Does anyone know for sure first hand if my 2001 honda civic lx has keyless entry capabilities?

A: no but you can bye a kit for it

Q: Does your Honda’s power ever window break or get stuck? How have you fixed it?
I’ve seen lots of posts online complaining about this. My 2001 Civic’s windows are very flaky. I can’t tell if it’s the motor or friction on the rubber seal things. Have you ever had this problem? If so, what did you do?

A: First of all you will need to use an indelible marker to mark the dead centre of the sticking window with a cross. It doesn’t need to be exaactly in the centre, but if you measure it properly it will help.

Then, using a 5lb club hammer, hit the marked spot as hard as possible. The window will now be guaranteed not to stick although you should make sure you remove all fragments of glass from the rubber seals if possible.

A similar method can be used to cure almost any automoble problem such as faulty lights, flat tyres, flat batteries or even a completely dead engine and will work out much cheaper than a trained mechanic or dealer garage.

Q: Which car should I go for?
I’m deciding whether or not to go for a Honda Civic 2002 or a Pontiac Firebird 2001 model. Both are at about the same price (the Honda is $50 more), and around the same mileage (the Honda was 85,342 and the Firebird 97,212).

Everybody raves about the Honda’s reliability and slightly better gas mileage, but the Firebird’s beauty and potential horsepower is unbeatable for the price.

I checked out user rating comparisons online as well, and both seem to be regarded as generally “good and reliable.” I want a reliable car, but at the same time I want something young and trendy for a college student.

Any further suggestions?

A: I would definitely go for the Honda. It’s a lot less miles, a lot less hassles to maintain, and it’s much easier to find parts for the Civic in case anything happens.

Didn’t the Firebird get discontinued? There’s probably a reason for that.

Not to mention, there’s practically an extra year of life in the Honda in terms of mileage and model year for only $50 more!
