Q: Can a Honda Civic 2002 ex coupe get its lower control arm bushing replace?
I have a 2002 honda civic ex coupe. And my front lower control arm bushing is wear out. Can I just replace the bushing for this car? or do I have to replace the whole control arm. (I heard some car control arm bushing cant be replace so i want to make sure before I order the bushing online.)

A: I had an acura (honda) and i had to replace the whole tierod because the bushing did not come separately. However, on my Nissan, the bushing did come separately. Since your car is a Honda, there maybe lots of cheaper aftermarket bushings and/or control arms available for your car and most garages can make this repair quickly and cheaply (labor).

Q: where can i find cheap front struts for 2002 honda civic?
im fixing a car and looking for the cheapest 2002 honda civic front struts… i found them for around 100$ each.. are they cheaper anywhere else.. online stores?

A: Two sites you should check out
Its unusual for struts to blow out on a 5 year old civic. typically they’re good for much longer. usually you’ll have tire cupping as an indication of a bad strut. you can’t see when there is a gas leak from a cartridge but in most cases if the gas leaks out past a seal the oil follows shortly and you’ll find oil leaking from the struts is about the only indication of a ‘bad’ strut other than the tire cupping.

Here are two references for you; I’ve used both and they seem to have the best prices and service levels

autoparts warehouse
http://www.autopartswarehouse.com
they have KYB struts for $87. that brand is one of the best; also available through tire rack

Hope that helps

Q: Need an estimate on replacing a car hood for a 2002 2dr Honda Civic LX?
Need to know what price to expect when I take my car in for repairs. A ballpark estimate would be great, I know an exact estimate is not possible online. I just need to know if my tax check would cover the repairs. The hood needs to be replaced on a white 2002 2dr Honda Civic LX. Thanks!

A: I`M IN ONTARIO CANADA I DID ONE LAST YEARS IT COST ME $ 255 WITH PAINT SO IT WAS $ 120 PART AND THE REST WAS FOR PAINT AND LABOUR

Q: What is the best deal for Extended auto warranty for 90-100k used 2002 Honda Civic and the price I can expect?
Is it cheaper and effective to get warranty through dealer? or online sites, like http://www.warrantydirect.com/. If I bought the vehicle from individual sales (not through dealer) then will it still be cheaper and effective to get warranty through them?

I know that most warranty won’t cover vehicle that has got milage beyond 100k.

A: There are so many ways to go with extended warranties that it is really your decision…benefits offered and prices vary all up and down the scale, so it would be best for you to look at as many as you “want” to, and compare the coverages/restrictions vs. prices…

You might try searching for a warranty comparison site too, I think they are out there in the ether world…

And yes, there are warranties over 100,000 miles, you just have to find them…

Q: Does any one know how to reprogram the ECU on a honda civic ex 2002?

A: Hondata

Q: 2002 honda civic ex coupe transmission?
i was thinking of buying this car it drove nicely but i looked it up online and many people were saying that there were transmission problems with it failing and slipping and i realized while i was driving it i was holding the gas down to about 50 mph and i gently took my foot off the gas and it seem like it downshifted abruptly and i lost speed very quickly. it didnt seem normal as compared to my current car, which i know has a transmission that is fine. maybe its just me cuz im not used to driving a honda, but is that normal or is that a sign that the transmission isnt going to be good

A: the transmission is failing you get it fixed as soon as possible or get a new one

Q: 2003 Dodge Neon SE or 2002 Honda Civic Si?
ok, i am currently stationed in italy, but will be moving to virginia this saturday. i am looking at cars online because i will need to find a car as soon as i possibly can when i get there. I am expecting a child, so obviously i would like a good reliable car. the neon is a 4 door, consumer ratings arent too bad, and there has only been 5 recalls on that model (plus there’s crash test ratings on the site for that vehicle). on the other hand the civic is nice too, only 2 door (which is a little more inconvenient if transporting a baby seat, but its do-able), however it has 16 recalls on that model no crash test ratings on the site (which is the same site as the neon is on) BUT consumer ratings are great! if anyone has any experience with either of these cars to recommend one, i would greatly appreciate the feedback!

A: Honda Civic is typically more reliable. The recalls that are shown on the cars.com are mainly for headlights which, is not a big deal.

I suggest to look up www.autotrader.com for cars being listed in your area. Here are some of the cars you might want to consider:

Toyota Corolla
Nissan Altima
Ford Focus
Mazda 3

Q: Honda Civic 2002 Shift Lock?
I have been doing a lot of research online about my shift lock problem with Honda’s. I’ve checked the following items in my car and I still can’t get my car out of park:

1) the brake switch (Good All brakes lights works)
2) the shift-interlock solenoid (Looks good and clean)

I am not getting any power going to shift-interlock solenoid or the automatic power light which leads up the shifter at night.

Please help! I’ve checked all of the fuses and they all look good.
John I did what you asked me to do, but still no blown fuse. I am tried of this problem. :)

A: sometimes they put a over ride switch on it its usually under the steering wheel or its next to the shifter. it s got a small cover on it, take it off and use somthing to press in there and it should release it. try that. that or look for a fuse thats blown

Q: Where can I order a new car hood online?
I need to order a new hood for my 2002 Honda Civic LX. I’m not sure if I’m typing in the wrong thing online but I can’t find any stores that ship new hoods. Can someone please give me an idea to where I can find one, or I am going to have to contact a Honda dealership directly? I have already tried “junk” dealers in the area and they have only older Honda cars. Thanks!

A: try this site:

good luck……

Q: honda civic stereo help?
im installing a honda civic 2002 year model

im helping a friend put in a subwoofer and amp in this car and ive installed a sub before but it was in a easy to take apart toyota. this civic has a ton of panels and im not sure how to take them off without damaging the car. does anyone know of a walk through online to help me take off the panels? Thank you very much

A: First thing you need to do is remove the piece of the dash that has the lighter plug and pocket. It is held in using only clips. A good way to remove it us to insert your fingers of your right hand into the pocket palm up and stick your thumb in the lighter plug. Grip and it should pull straight out, it takes a bit of force.

Get down low and you will see two screws towards the right side of the opening. Remove these so you can pull out the part of the dash that houses the radio and AC controls.

To remove this part of the dash, it is best to reach up inside the dash and find something to push this part out enough that you can get your fingers under it. It takes some force to push this out; it is connected with 5 clips. Once it is out, remove all the plugs, and remove the 3 screws that hold the climate controls in. Now you can remove the stock head unit and install your new one.

Q: Replacing a Honda Civic Serpentine Belt Tensioner.?
Hubby was driving to work and the serpentine belt on his Honda Civic Si 2002 Hatchback came off, luckly he was parking when it happened. This stupid car has been into Honda three times in the past couple of months and each time some other part has to be replace. (AC compressor, water pump) Now this belt comes off, and I find out that this belt is connected to both those parts, honda says to bad for you now pay us more. Anyways my question is how long can the car run without this belt (to get it to a shop without being towed) and is this gonna be costly? I can’t seem to find any prices online for the tensioner (which Honda also replaced), the belt is still intact so that probably doesn’t need to be replaced. Needless to say we are taking it to a different shop than Honda. Does anyone know how many “shop hours” will this take?
we spoke with the manager and we are contacting the better business bureau once we find out the exact problem from another mechanic. Honda is pretty much blaming it on the fact that instead of paying $300 for a water pump from them, we bought one for $100 from Lordco (which is still good quality and has nothing to do with the belt tensioner that im aware of). We have decided not to go back to Honda and if there is serious damage caused by them that they wont fix we will be suing them.

A: umm if Honda just recently replaced the tensioner, id talk to the general manager of the dealership and demand they look at it for free.

Q: can i put the front end of a 02 rsx on a 98 honda civic?
my friend is paring out his 2002 rsx, and i was looking online at convertion kits fro my 96 2dr civic, i was wondering is it possible to take the front onf the rsx and put it on my civic?

A: you can but its not a direct fit….you have to do somewhat major modifications to make it fit and line up correctly.

google search civic rsx front end conversion im sure something will pop up.
