Q: where can i find cheap front struts for 2002 honda civic?
im fixing a car and looking for the cheapest 2002 honda civic front struts… i found them for around 100$ each.. are they cheaper anywhere else.. online stores?
A: Two sites you should check out
Its unusual for struts to blow out on a 5 year old civic. typically they’re good for much longer. usually you’ll have tire cupping as an indication of a bad strut. you can’t see when there is a gas leak from a cartridge but in most cases if the gas leaks out past a seal the oil follows shortly and you’ll find oil leaking from the struts is about the only indication of a ‘bad’ strut other than the tire cupping.
Here are two references for you; I’ve used both and they seem to have the best prices and service levels
autoparts warehouse
http://www.autopartswarehouse.com
they have KYB struts for $87. that brand is one of the best; also available through tire rack

Hope that helps

Q: Is it OK to use premium gas on a 2002 honda civic sedan?
I use to use shell regular gas on my 80,000 mile civic but now with gas being so cheap i have started using shell premium gasoline. Is that Ok for the car or a bad thing?
A: it is fine to use either, the computer in certain circumstances will advance the timing slightly more if you use the higher octane fuel, it does after all react to pre-detonation knocking, which might give you a slight advantage, however, for regular driving there is not an advantage to purchasing the more costly fuel….
Q: How to program a keyless entry remote for 2002 Honda Civic?
I just bought a 2002 Honda Civic LX. I want to get a key fob for keyless entry. Does the transmitter to use a key fob come standard on this model? And what model key fob would I need? Will it open the trunk/where should I look to see it the car has an actuator for this feature?
Also I went to Lowes to copy the key. They said since it has a chip in it I have to go to the dealer to get a key. I just wanted a copy for the doors, but they said “we’re not allowed.” Where is the cheapest place to get a copy with a chip, or is anyone “allowed” to copy a key with a transponder chip just for doors.
Thank you in advance!!
A: on the 2002 civic the Keyless Entry was standard on the EX model and an available dealer installed option on the LX model. the factory keyless entry could not be installed on the DX model because the DX has manual door locks.
If the car is an LX you need to have the dealer order and install the keyless entry system. (you can install it yourself if you’re comfortable with working on the car and taking the dash panel apart; otherwise, have the dealer do it) The keyless entry includes the transceiver/control unit that is at the heart of the system and the remotes. The control unit plugs into the existing harness or uses a factory ’subharness’ for all the connections. It is a factory accessory that is made for the car and requires no modifications to install. I had one installed on my daughters 2003 LX and you would never know it didn’t come with the car.
On the key issue, the only place you can get the key is at a Honda dealer. The chip will have to be programmed to match the existing key if you want it to start the car. You can have the key duplicated to open the doors without starting the car by taking the key to any local locksmith and having them do it. Most locksmiths and all dealers require proof that you own the car before they will duplicate the key because of liability issues.
hope that answers your questions

Q: Clicking sound problem in my shift knob / shifter when in Park – 2002 Honda Civic ex auto trans?
I have a 2002 Honda Civic EX Auto Trans. When the car is in Park there is a clicking/popping sound in my shift knob. I can feel something is moving.
Yet when I press brake or when the car is in reverse, neutral, drive, or any gear..this doesn’t happen. Car drives fine and no slip on transmission, I have been driving this car for more than 6 months. It just annoy me a bit and want to know if it can be fix for cheap. Or if some1 can identify the cause to this problem to me.
I asked my mechanic he said he have to open it up and see what is the problem. I ask him how much he said it depends on # labor hours.
Thanks for your help.

It doesn’t just click once. The clicking sound continues non stop. Sometime it click once every 20sec sometime it click non stop every sec.
The problem is the shift interlock mechanism is moving on its own (thats how the continous clicking sound are make), is there any solution to this?
A: that is the shift interlock mechanism. it is a solenoid that keeps your shifter locked in park when you leave the car some where. i have heard this happen in a few different cars but i have yet to see it as a problem or see a solution to it.
Q: What is the best deal for Extended auto warranty for 90-100k used 2002 Honda Civic and the price I can expect?
Is it cheaper and effective to get warranty through dealer? or online sites, like http://www.warrantydirect.com/. If I bought the vehicle from individual sales (not through dealer) then will it still be cheaper and effective to get warranty through them?
I know that most warranty won’t cover vehicle that has got milage beyond 100k.
A: There are so many ways to go with extended warranties that it is really your decision…benefits offered and prices vary all up and down the scale, so it would be best for you to look at as many as you “want” to, and compare the coverages/restrictions vs. prices…
You might try searching for a warranty comparison site too, I think they are out there in the ether world…
And yes, there are warranties over 100,000 miles, you just have to find them…
Q: 2002 Honda Civic Cold Air Intake?
Does anyone who understands intake systems better than me know whether or not buying an EP3 COLD AIR INTAKE which is about $200 cheaper will have near the same results as a K&N one? I know that K&N is the top brand and manufacturer.

A: From what I understand, the intake is just metal tubing and will give you the same results.
The real results are in the filter, so get yourself a reputable filter and slap it on your intake. You should be good.
Just don’t stick with the filter it comes with, I bought an Ebay intake a while back and the filter it came with started shriveling up so bad it started ripping.

Q: 2002 honda civic Si?
it has 64000 miles and the dealer is asking 8900 but the kelly blue book value is 11000 do you think there is somthing wrong with the car or are they just pricing it cheap
A: They may just not want it. Like everyone else, test drive it, and drive it HARD, like you stole it. Accelerate, brake, and corner hard. Take it to a mechanic and ask his opinion. CARFAX it.
Q: Hey, I have a 2002 Honda Civic DX. I nailed a curb at about 40mph. There is no shaking, but the tire clicks.?
Actually, my friend who I let drive nailed it trying to get off the highway too late for the exit. Basically, we nailed that thing at about 40-45mph. So I thought the worst. But all we heard was a clicking and the steering was more or less exactly as it was before (I took the reigns after said accident). We swapped the spare on and the inner edge and outer edge of the rim (this is a cheap-o stock rim) had significant bends in them. It looks like the inner bump on the rim could’ve been knocking the caliper/brake pads and that was causing the knocking. Any advice on costs and possible outlook? Everything drives straight and true (given that I’m rollin’ on a 10″ spare, at least) so is it possible that the only damage was to the rim?
A: You should remove your caliper, brake pads, caliper mount, and brake rotor. Inspect the bolts and screws to see if any of them have loosen, stripped, or snapped; replace if damaged. New bolts should cost less than $10. Use a torque wrench to tighten the bolts back to specification.
Also check the brake rotor shield to see if it has been bent against the brake rotor – just bend it back.
If there’s still some clicking, your CV joints may have been damaged. It will cost $70 for a new axle with CV joints. You’ll need a strong impact wrench to loosen the axle nut and a ball joint remover to lift the hub off of the bottom arm joint.
Good luck!
