Q: How do I get my parents to get me a sports car?
I’m 16, i’m asian, and i’ve had my eye on the 2002 toyota celica (stock)

now, i know what you’re thinking ( teenager + sports car = death). thing is, i’m a good driver (99% on drivers test, never speed more than 2 mph over speed limit), and i’m relatively responsible by comparison (i don’t want to sound like i’m bragging, but it’s fact). I qualify for good student discount (3.97 cumulative GPA, 7 AP classes, etc.), and the car i’m looking at is relatively inexpensive ($6,000; could probably haggle down to ~$5,000 or so). Unfortunately, i can’t pay for the car or the insurance, because getting a job would “interfere with my studies ” (asian parents, remember). My parents want to get me some POS 1990 jeep cherokee, but i’ve seen those, and those crumple into tiny metal balls when they hit anything bigger than a rabbit (supposedly, even the celica i want does better in crash tests).

so, basically, what i’m asking is what to tell my parents to try and get me that car. If it’s way too much to ask, are there any better alternatives (i only really care about the chassis; i couldn’t care less about the engine, turbo, etc.).

thanks

p.s. please don’t say honda civic; i could throw a rock out the window and hit 20 honda civics from where i’m sitting :D
