Q: What year was the honda civic hatchback stop being made?
I have a 1989 Honda Civic hatchback and wanted to get a newer one, but was wondering what was the last year they started making this model? Thanks !

A: In the United States the last Honda Civic Hatchback was the 2002-2005 Honda Civic Si.

In Europe the Honda Civic is still being produced in Hatchback models.

Q: How much would it cost for a Honda Civic Hatchback and B20 engine swap?
How much would it cost, and is it worth it, to buy 1995 honda civic hatchback and swap the engine for a B20? Also would it be a good choice to buy an Acura Legend? Is it fast?

A: B20 engine range any where from $600 to $3200 all depends on what has be done to it for example a B20 with a B16a head is what you would call a Frankenstein, a demon in the racing industry shop on ebay see what you can find, as for a legend thats more a car for looks you can if you like sup it up but thats a waste of time, and ek with a B20 vtex or a H22 prelude engine would be the way to go, thats my opinion.

Q: What performance exhaust would be the best for my Honda Civic Hatchback 1999?
My son asked for a birthday present and this is what he asked for only i don’t know what would be the best for what he is looking to do to his car. Its a 1999 Honda Civic DX hatchback. He is looking for a cat-back exhaust system that both sounds and looks nice on his car. Any suggestions on brands types etc let me know because the sooner the better! Thanks
~Dave

A: Well as far as i know the best exhaust system out today for honda civics is the DC Sports performance exhaust systems..
So i would probably recommend this one : http://www.slickcar.com/productdetails.asp?ProductID=2963
I would also look in to DC Sports headers and an intake system i have the AEM V2 on my honda it is incredible it added a couple of horses and got me better mpg, they are also both very good.
Hope this helped.

Q: How do you Install a cigarette lighter for a 91 Honda civic hatchback.?
Hello, my 91 honda civic hachback comes without a cigarette lighter and i bought the whole kit to install it in the car but it didnt come with directions. If some one can help me with a website or something to help me get this installed into my 91honda civic hatchback. THANKS !

A: You should buy a Honda Civic Service manual for the year and model of your car. This will help you locate where all the screws are for the panel you plan to install your cigarette lighter.

If you are simply replacing an existing cigarette lighter, then it should be easy to do. Remove the panel then unscrew and pop out the old cigarette lighter. Reconnect the positive (red) and negative (black) wire behind your cigarette lighter.

If you plan to install a cigarette lighter in a new spot, you’ll need to have a multimeter and the 2 wires that will serve as your negative and positive connections for your new cigarette lighter. Then you’ll need to extend a new wire from your cigarette lighter fuse from under your dashboard to the new spot for your cigarette lighter. The other wire can be tied to any metal frame or contact that serves as your ground terminal.

Turn your car to on and measure the voltage across the two wires at the new spot for your lighter. If it reads about 12 volts, then you can now connect and install your new cigarette lighter.

Good luck!

Q: How much could I ask for when selling a 1989 honda civic hatchback?
I have a 1989 Honda Civic Hatchback that I want to sell that has a few problems with it.. It has a major oil leak, and the emergency break doesnt work. Everyone tells me I could get a good amount of money for this car and was wondering if anyone had some good ideas on how much money I could ask for this car

A: i’d be upfront about the issues…
i bought a 1998 honda accord for 8k. it was in great condition, no issues, about 100k miles. cheapest thing on the lot too, i’m sure.
for that car, i’d probably want to pay 1 or 2k. i imagine a dealership would charge more. how many miles are on it? that makes a difference as well. the best thing about it is it’s a honda, and they last forever.

Q: Why does the 1995 Honda Civic hatchback VX get such good mpg? Also where can i get one?
I’m wondering what parts or components of a honda civic hatchback vx, that make it get good gas mileage. Also does anyone know where I can get one?

A: The answers regarding the lean-burn VTEC-E engine are on track. This is not to be confused with the ‘high output” V-TEC engines. It’s a little slow off the mark, but certainly not embarrassing. The best I saw with mine was 62mpg, but I got 50+ on many highway trips. It ‘only’ gets around 42 running to work if I don’t use the AC much, and drops to about 38 in the winter.

As to where to get one, keep a sharp eye out, since they’re rare. I’m thinking about selling mine, because my new wife doesn’t like how small and noisy it is. That’s another part of the mileage; it’s made very light by leaving out some of the sound insulation and such. It also has special lightweight wheels.

Q: Where can I find rims for a 2000 Honda Civic Hatchback?
I have a 2000 Honda Civic Hatchback and I want to find some good rims for it. I would like to find rims that are green to put on it. Also where can I buy body kits for the Civic. Thanks!

A: if you are looking for the body kit you can check this link – there are about 25 body kits listed there for your car

http://www.customautotrim.com/bodykits/extreme-dimensions/honda/civic-hb/1996-2000/

Q: Where can i find a good body kit for my 1998 Honda Civic Hatchback DX?
I just bought a Black 1998 Honda Civic Hatchback DX and wanted to know here i could purchase a good body kit for it?

A: Justin, whats your budget? Reason why I ask is because you do not have to spend thousands of dollars on a body kit from Japan for your 96-98 Civic (EK) Hatch such as Air Walker, Back Yard Special, C-Westin, J’s Racing, ETC., you can pay a fraction of that by buying a replica body kit manufactured by VIS Racing, Duraflex, companies like this already have (Cwestin, Buddy Club, Air Walker) style made for your vehicle. I personally have a VIS kit on my Nissan and am very happy w/ it, I made my purchase through http://www.iatuner.com/ and they gave me my VIS Vertex style kit for an awesome price. Hope this information helps.

Q: Where is the radio fuse for a 98 Honda Civic Hatchback?
I have a 98 Honda Civic hatchback and the cover for the fuse box is missing. Can someone tell me where to find that fuse and if there is an extra fuse I can use? Or a website that has a drawing of the fuse display.

A: bottom row, third fuse from the left

it also controls the cigarette lighter iirc

Q: How to install an A/C in a 1993 Honda Civic Hatchback?
My boyfriend has a 1993 Honda Civic Hatchback that he loves, but there’s one problem – we live in Florida and the car has no A/C. It is starting to cool off now, so we are just fine with the windows down, but once summer comes, it will be unbearable. So, what is needed to install an A/C in his car? What parts does he need to buy?

Thanks for your help.

A: With a 15 year old car, it is unlikely that the cost of adding A/C would be lower than replacing the car with a newer, A/C equipped car.

If you’ve ever looked at new cars, you would have seen that options come in two varieties: manufacturer installed and dealer add ons. Some options (pin stripes, stereos and such) often pop up in both categories. Others, like A/C are never dealer installed because, if possible at all, adding them on after the car is built is simply too complicated an endeavor.

Adding A/C to a car is far more complicated than you seem to be expecting. Adding A/C to a house is usually a simple affair involving plopping an air conditioner in an available window and plugging it in. With a car, it’s very different. First, since the layout of engines varies so much from one car make/year to another, there’s no such thing as a “one size fits all”: you would need air conditioning made for that model/year of car. Since the condenser is powered by the engine, rather than the electrical system, it doesn’t just “plug in” either. Car A/C uses the vent system’s air ducts as well, so there’s that to consider. In all, if you can even get the parts, you are looking at several thousands of dollars to add a/c to a car.

Q: Where can i find a nice easy to install spoiler for my 1998 Honda Civic Hatchback DX?
Where can i find a nice easy to install spoiler for my 1998 Honda Civic Hatchback DX?

A: if i were you i would get a Civic Type-R spoiler. i only like to put OEM honda parts wether it be JDM or USDM. either way its easy you just have to find out where to drill the holes :) and when you do find them drill from the outside in not the inside out and put masking tape where your going to drill so it doesnt chip the paint and go slow…unless its like a 99 civic Si trunk where on the inside theres markers where the spoiler holes should be, they are tiny little bubbles in the metal. in that case you can drill from the inside out. but sill put masking tape on the outside…

Q: Does anyone have or know someone selling a 1995 honda civic hatchback vx?
I am looking to purchase 1995 honda civic hatchback vx. somewhere in the price range in the 2000’s it doesnt have to be in perfect condition. can be in good or drivable condition. but better would be nice.

A: Check craigslist

Q: 1991 Honda Civic Hatchback makes a lot of noise near the hatch?
Hi, my 1991 Honda Civic Hatchback is making a lot of noise near the hatch area. Now I’m not to sure if it’s the shocks/struts of the actual hatch itself. Whenever I drive down a bumpy road there will be loud hard bangs coming from behind. Any and all help would be highly appreciated, thanks!

A: Have someone check the rear struts, trailing arm bushings,tail/muffler hangers, or what ever it is that’s in your spare tire compartment. Any of these could cause the noises your referring to. Good luck and hope this helps.

Q: Looking to buy a used Honda Civic hatchback or sedan.?
I’ve heard they can run pretty good well over 300,000 km’s. Just wondering how true this is and wondering if purchasing a 97′ in good condition with about 200,000 kms for $2,000 – 2,500 is a good idea.

A: As long as it hasn’t been modified.

It isn’t that there isn’t any good modifications but rather any work done once it’s out of the factory is never quite as good as the original so modifications just make it flakier. I like the 88 Civic Si, that was the first brand new car that I bought. Unfortunately I had an after market AC, power locks and power windows installed. The power locks were good especially since they were tied into the alarm system but the power windows had these plastic caps covering where the cranks used to be and those kept falling off. The AC fan bearings froze and the system kept venting freon through the safety pressure release, went through three mechanics and thousands of dollars before finding a mechanic that thought to check the fan.

You could carry just about anything in that Si, drywall, furniture, you name it, you could make it fit. I’ve never found as useful and as fun a car to drive in all these years.

Q: should i buy this USED Honda Civic Hatchback for 2,700?
i dont know much about cars but this person is selling this car with 150k miles on but it has a rebuilt engine and its a honda, is that a good deal? here are the details
1994 civic hatchbac

i know salvaged titles are bad,and ithink it means its been in an accident right? but doesnt theft recovery mean like someone stole it and then they found the car and took it back? haha

A: The salvaged title says it all pass on this one.

Q: Can I install two 6×9 speakers on the deck that is used to hide the trunk in a 1993 Honda Civic hatchback?
I have a 1993 Honda civic DC hatchback and I would like to install two 6×9 speakers in my car. Since I do not have speakers in the rear, I would like to cut a hole in the thing used to hide the things you have in your trunk. It’s like a thin rear deck.

I was just wondering if it was enough solid and would not rattle. And if I can’t, where could I put them? I really want 4 speakers in my car.

Thank you

A: That’s a terrible idea. Speakers need a solid and rattle free baffle to mount to. Crutchfield lists 6 1/2″ speakers in the doors and 5 1/4″ speakers in the rear side panels as the factory sizes. If your Civic doesn’t have speakers in the rear side panels then there probably is a speaker hole behind each rear panel. You’d have to remove the panels and make the cutouts. You may also have to run the wire for each side or it may already be there. Don’t use 6″x9″ speakers. Use 5 1/4″ speakers in the rear in order to maintain the bass image up front. Using the bigger 6″x9″ will drag the image to the rear of the car. Good luck.

Q: Is it possible to use the Honda Civic Type R 2004 headlights on a 2001 Honda Civic hatchback?
I have a 2001 Civic Sport SE Vetec and would like to change the headlights to the Type R 2004 headlights if possible. Also, If anybody knows the model number to the official Honda Type R headlights, that would be most helpful.

A: if you have the 2001 7th gen shape (EP) then yes, they should fit, the 6th gen shape continued to halfway through 2001 (EM1), so if its the 6th gen shape, then no it won’t. (by the way its VTEC)

I Don’t know the model number im affraid, but the type-r lights shouldn’t be any different to the SE ones, apart from the JDM type-r headlights, which have smoked effect internal plastic, just search on ebay, my advice is ask at a Honda dealer, and just make sure they will definately fit — honda may have changed mountings or fitments between 2001-2004, or even a slight re-design — im not 100% sure..

Q: I need help finding any used Honda Civic Hatchbacks in my area (563)?
I need a Honda Civic hatchback between 92 and 96 manual transmission. I once several months ago found a dealer in my area that sold nothing but imports and I kept the page under my favorites. By that time I returned my laptop and got another one and forgot to write down the web address. I live in davenport iowa 563 area code and 52804 zip code. What I do remember is that the dealer wasn’t too far away? Anything within an 1hr to an 1hr and a half distance is good.

Please can someone help me find a dealer!!!

A: Check out car-part.com

They are a junkyard listing nation wide.

The website will help you locate parts nearest to you.

There is a chance the yard you are looking for may not be registered with them.

Ebay is another way of finding obscure junkyards.. that have items you may be looking for.

Does this help any?

Q: Is it possible to buy the original stock parts from honda for a 1995 honda civic hatchback vx?
I’m having trouble finding a used 1995 honda civic hatchback vx so i was wondering if you could order the original stock parts from honda.(literally everything, chassis and all down to the last bolt and screw) to assemble it yourself to have a brand new 1995 honda civic hatchback vx. If so, i would greatly appreciate any info on how to go about this.
would it be possible for it to be done at a mass number like in the hundreds for resale?
I wanna build this car from the car up, brand new even though its 1995.

A: yes you can get just about anything you want for a 95 civic you just have to go to a honda dealership and they will have it and if they dont they will know where to get it and they will order it for you i hope that helps

Q: Is a 1989 Honda Civic Dx Hatchback a good investment?
I just found this 1989 Honda Civic Dx Hatchback with a new-used motor with an existing 80k miles. The car has an auto 3-speed and is in good looking condition. Is a 4-cylinder 1.5L “throttle body engine” as seller calls it. I guess I just want to make sure that this model isn’t a poor model to go for due to the 3-speed especially. The seller is asking $1495 for it. Any thoughts?

A: Ok, to answer the question, yes it would be a good investment, but the price is too high.
89′ Civic Dx models have a D15B2 1.5L sohc engine.
OBD-1 wiring harness.
DPFI Dual Point Fuel System.
9;2:1 compression.
7000 rpm Rev Limiter.

A “new used engine” is referring to a re-built engine.
What they are calling a “throttle body engine” is really a Dual point throttle body ( not a true “throttle body” )
You could convert to MPFI or Multi Port Fuel Injection very easily.
Most D15 engines have either a carburated of DPFI intake.

Some later D15 models have a MPFI system, including: D15B6 (88′-91 CRX HF), D16B7 (92′-95′ Civic Dx/Lx and Del Sol), D15B8 (92′-95′ Civic Cx) and D15Z1 (92′-95′ Civic Cx)

All D16 1.6L engines have MPFI.

As far as the 3-speed auto trans, the torque is alot lower and autos have shift lag.
A manual transmission would have better acceleration and fuel mileage.

The 1989 Civic Dx is a good model and with a re-built engine with only 80k miles it’s not a bad deal, but you should offer them a lower amount, $1495 is too much for that car.

Hope that helped-

Q: honda civic mileage question help plz?
i want to buy a used honda civic hatchback from 1992 to 1995 models and i was just wondering is mileage a very big thing when its come to those old cars? im not really a car person im only 17 lol should i buy a car with over 150k mileage on it or less? what if i change the engine and some parts would it run longer no matter what the mileage is?

A: Honda motors are the best, don’t listen to above posters. Check and see if the maintence has been maintained. Also the tires brakes, hoses, transmission and if you don’t know how ask someone who does to take the car on a ride but don’t pay more than 1500 for the 1992-1995 Hondas

Q: I test drove a used (2004 i think) Honda civic Si hatchback(manual)…?
I drive a jeep wrangler(manual) and the first thing i noticed was that the clutch was way different and easyer to engage the transmissionI(in the civic).

can someone explain this to me. What is the diff. How does it work. I didnt hardly have to move the clutch pedal to engage.

Needless to say i had never driven a car like that and it was very fun to drive!!

A: the civic clutch has a closer gear ratio, making it easier to shift, the clutch is designed for high rev shifting and smoother shifts. jeep shift is like rowing a boat across the panama canal it is designed more for off roading and cruising rather than quick precise shifts

Q: Is $4,450 a fair price for a 2000 Honda Civic DX Hatchback with 115,000 miles?
I recently found a used 2000 Honda Civic DX Hatchback for sale in Northern VA and I’d just like to know if $4,450 is a fair price to pay? Here are some details:

115,000 miles
Automatic 4 cyl
1.6L engine
Cruise control
Alarm system
Sony CD player
Great condition all around

My brother told me that with it being a Honda that even at 115,000 miles it probably still has another 350,000+ miles to go. Does that sound right? I heard people joke about how a used Honda or Toyota with 150,000 miles will last longer and are also better investments than a new Ford/Chevy. Any truth to this? Anyway, I’d appreciate any advice you folks could give me on this.

A: That is a good deal. If you were looking at this car on a carlot here it would be about 6,000. I say go for it and it is a Honda, so you will have many miles if its in as good of shape as it sounds. good luck

Q: Is Honda Prelude springs are the same as Honda Civic?
Just wondering if the Spring for Prelude and civics are the same.
Because I plan to used my friend honda civic hatchback spring for my prelude?
They don’t have to have the same year to fit right?

A: no

Q: would DC headers that came off a 88 prelude fit my 91 honda civic DX hatchback?
i have a 91 honda civic DX hatchback. i want to know if DC headers that had been used on a 88 honda prelude with a b20a5 motor would fit my car?

A: no,

that prelude is b-series motor,

your civic is d-series.

so no they are NOT interchangeable.

Q: Where can I go to seek an Air Conditioning installation in my 1997 Honda Civic CX near Denver, CO?
I just bought a used 1997 Honda Civic CX hatchback and it does not have air conditioning. I know this installation is pricey, but I wanted a general idea of price ranges and WHO I can go to/call near Denver, CO to get a/c installed in my vehicle. Thanks in advance!

A: I used to install aftermarket A/C systems for all types of car and trucks in the past but don’t anymore due to (1) the cost and (2) the problems with installing the system in older cars and trucks.

The price will be in the area of around $1200.00 dollars and if you check the internet you will be able to find someone that will install it.

Once you have found someone email me with the price and I will tell you what you need to look for as well as what the installation place will need to look for and talk to you about…..

Q: Where is the radio fuse for a 98 Honda Civic Hatchback?
I have a 98 Honda Civic hatchback and the cover for the fuse box is missing. Can someone tell me where to find that fuse and if there is an extra fuse I can use? Or a website that has a drawing of the fuse display.

it also controls the cigarette lighter iirc

Q: Should I buy a 1993 Honda Civic Hatchback?
I found a 1993 Honda Civic Hatchback for sale at $1700. It has 230,000 miles on it, but the owner claims it has been meticulously taken car of by replacing many parts under the hood that usually go bad after reaching such high mileage. I’m a college student that drives mostly on the highway and in need of a car with great gas mileage, which it has. And the exterior seems to be in okay shape for the year. He is asking $1700 but is willing to negotiate. Any advice on this would be appreciated. Thanks.

A: i managed to get a 93 civic sedan with only 55k on hte stock motor and trans, for only 2000. i love how people think their hondas are made of gold or something. keep looking you can find one with half the miles for maybe 2500 and the person willing to negotiate… just remeber no matter the asking price cash talks

Q: where can I find parts for a 1989 honda civic hatchback that are for sale cheap?

A: Salvage yard – especially one that specializews in Hondas like Fatzinger’s.

Q: Where can I find a Honda Civic Hatchback?
I want to know if there are any dealers that are selling a 1995-2003 Honda Civic Hatchback I live near Rochester and Buffalo NY so are there any dealers that may have one for sale?

A: IM sure there is, it shouldn’t be hard to find one.. Hondas are very common cars. But dealers will rip you off buy from a private seller. And try Craigs list and search for your area.

Q: where can i find a honda civic si in the inland empire for sale?
im looking to buy a car and i want to find a honda civic si hatchback 02-04.if anybody knows any dealerships that might have it in riverside county let me know.thanx

A: check craigslist i always see lot of SI’s on the inland empire craigslist, not sure about the hatch version though. Just be careful what you buy though because a lot of them are cars that have been beat up by their previous owners and when they are about to break they sell them so it becomes your problem. Make sure whatever car you buy has a good service record with proof (i.e. receipts) and check the CarFax report (altho that doesn’t always include 100% of accidents/problems the car was involved in)

There is a 1989 honda civic si hatchback for sale in my area. It is black, paint looks to be in good condition. It has 152,000 miles on it. There is a sunroof. Comes with tinted windows, cd player, k&n air intake, and an alarm system. It is listed for $3900. How low do you think I can negotiate?

A: According to NADA it is worth between $1200 to $1900.

Q: Bodykit for 1986 Honda civic si? (3 door hatchback)
Does anyone know where I could find one for sale?

A: http://www.geocities.com/bishop132000/

My first car was an 86 civic (base model) and believe me when I say that parts for this thing are rare and hard to come by. I ended up doing a lot of custom stuff because the companies that made parts for this car at one time… most of them are not in business anymore. The companies that are still in business don’t make the kits anymore because they don’t sell enough of them. It’s so hard to find parts for the third generation civic that it’s too frustrating to deal with. Once you get into the 4th generation and newer (88-newer) then there is a huge aftermarket. Messing with the 3rd gen. gave me a lot of good experience though. Good luck.

Q: Which part of the year do most people sell their car? Trying to buy a Honda Civic but not enough are listed?
I’m trying to get ahold of the following:

Make: Honda
Model: Civic
Engine: 1.6i Vtec Se
Number of doors: 5 door Hatchback
Mileage: As low as possible. Ideally in the 20,000/30,000 region.
Year: Cars made after 2003 (03, 53, plates onwards only)
Transmission: Manual
Fuel: Petrol
Colour: Black (ideally wanted), darker colours, silver
£5,500 – £6000 region

The issue is that I’ve been looking for 3 weeks now and nobody seems to be selling many Honda Civics compared to the more common place cars like Astras, Focus, Cleo, Corsa, etc.

Just wondered if when the 08 plates come into March maybe more people will list their cars for sale.

For example would honda civic owners put their car on sale just because the new 08 plates will make them want to buy a more current car?

Any advice on how people get a hold of cars that are not listed at any of their local dealers!!!!

HELP!!!!!

totalquality2004@yahoo.com

Live in hertfordshire here!

A: LOL… I’ve never heard this kind of question about cars before!
It’s not like you were looking for a pet and asking when do dogs or cats usually have their litters!

The reason you don’t see a lot of Honda Civics for sale is probably because they are good cars and no one wants to part with them. Keep looking. Shopping is hard.

Q: What’s the best cheap (around $3000) used car to buy?
I love the Honda Civic hatchback’s, the older ones like 1990 etc. but the ones for sale have very high miles-like 150-200K miles. What’s the highest acceptable mileage?

A: Look for a place (used car dealership) that is offering a warranty of some sort. It’s better to protect your a** and get a warranty.

And yes, look at Honda’s and Toyotas. They seem to have the best, most reliable used cars.

You might get lucky and find an older Honda or Toyota that was driven by an older couple that might only have 40,000 miles on it…but most of the used cars you will come across will have slightly less or slightly more than 100,000. I have purchased used cars with between 30,000 and 106,000. You will have general maintenance issues, but if the car was taken care of, it should easily last you years.

Q: Are there any advantages of the Honda Fit over the Honda CR-V , or visa versa ?
My very first car was the first Honda Civic, and I loved it. I am a musician , so I need a hatchback to carry around my guitar, harmonium , amplifier, etc…..I drvie to and from Montreal every week, an hours drive to Rawdon, so I need something that is econimical on gas. Ive spoken to many mechanics and it seems that two of the best hatchback cars on the market , for economy , quality, ease of repair, is the Toyota and Honda. V W Golf, Subaru and Mazda were also mentioned to me, but out here in the country there are few V W mechanics and I have heard that Mazda parts are very expensive. Subarus dont seem to be as commen, at least not so many for sale under $ !0,000 out here, which is my budget. A localdealer is selling a Honda Fit 2007 Manual transmission, for $ 10, 845. When I told the rep that I only had $ 10,000 to spend , he said that probably his boss would drop it down to that price for me. I need to kknow if I should go with the Honda Civic or if the Fit is better or an improvement over the Civic hatchback, or if there is anything I am overlooking or not aware of.

A: Well in terms of comparison the Fit is considerably more like your old Civic. The CR-V can feel a bit more “floaty” especially in strong winds. The Fit sits lower to the ground and, in my opinion, a more enjoyable ride overall. The CR-V, while not a bad vehicle, is a bit larger and doesn’t make up for it with weight or power (granted the new ones are a bit nicer than the previous models).

The Fit is Go!

Q: Car for Sale Question?
How much do you think that I could get for a 1990 Honda Civic Dx Hatchback? It needs a little work done on it, but it has been outfitted as a racing car, with a turbo exhaust system and a vortex engine and headers. It also has a sunroof, rack and pinon steering, rear windshield wiper, multi cd changer, and extra added-on head lamps.

A: according to what needs to be done on it, i will just give you a ballpark figure on it now. you can get at least between 2000-2500usd on a good day

Q: Which car sounds like the best?
I’m a new driver, just got my beginners and my mom told me the other day to look for a car because she’ll buy me one!
I have two cheapish ones in mind.
Please take into consideration how much parts generally cost for each car make or whatever if you know and let me know what’s that like because nor me or my mother really know..

First is a 1994 Honda Civic Dx Hatchback (says Cx in ad but I talked to him)
This has been my dream car for a few years, there is some minor surface rust. Not much kilometres on it at all.
Here is a link to the ad with it:

http://pei.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-cars-1994-Honda-Civic-Hatchback-W0QQAdIdZ189283018

Second is a 1996 Nissan 200SX
Also a favorite of mine, well not really because I always had my eye on the 240 but this will do.
Haven’t been out to see it.

http://pei.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-cars-1996-Nissan-200SX-Coupe-2-door-W0QQAdIdZ192844656

BTW:
I wouldn’t pay more than $2,000 for that Honda Civic, he said he will take offers and he has had it for sale for over a month so I can talk him down.
Thanks!

Please give me a lot of info and stuff on your decision.. I’m a newbie at this.

A: You would have to look over each car to be sure both are in good condition if they are essentially the same. I personally would go with the Nissan its newer, less mileage and is a southern car so less rust.

I say go for it and it is a Honda, so you will have many miles if its in as good of shape as it sounds. good luck

Q: Buy a £550 Honda Civic!?
I have a black M reg 1995 1.4 elec pack Honda Civic hatchback for sale. It has done about 118000 miles, full service history, mot till January 2008. It will be taxed for 6 months. I have used it most days for work and it has never let me down. Cam belt has been changed. There is no problem i know of with the car; the exhaust has just been serviced and i have put a new tyre on. I havent advertised it yet, just seeing if i get a response here!
I am selling because i have a slightly newer car as a result of an unexpected deal from a family member! As a first time buy or cheap motor it would be a great car. low insurance. I am in the High Wycombe area so anyone interested?
The driveshaft gaiter( a rubber boot) was replaced a week ago but no problem with joint as i caught it in time.)

A: thats cheap, i would have added an extra 200 quid on top, maybe even 300…. Good Luck!

i live in la crosse wisconsin and id like to find a car either locally or the closest to locally i can get [a couple hundred miles away]

A: ebay.

A: It is a fair price at a dealership……high if it is a private sale.

Don’t buy into the Honda/Toyota hype. American cars will last just as long. I have a 2001 Sunfire with 111,000 miles and a 1996 Blazer 4×4 with 135,000. They both run great and have very few problems.

A: you can call the dealer they still sometimes carry some after market parts… give it a try..

Q: where can I find parts for a 1989 honda civic hatchback that are for sale cheap?

A: Salvage yard – especially one that specializews in Hondas like Fatzinger’s.

Q: Can someone tell me where could i find (online) some stock body parts for my 1994 honda civic hatchback?
other than ebay

A: junkyard, ebay, someone parting out there car on craigslist

Q: What parts would i need to install power steering in my 1992 honda civic CX hatchback?

A: pump, bracket, belt hoses and lines, rack at the very least. Sounds like a lot of work to put into a 17 year old car. Just drive it the way it is until it dies, and your arms will be a little bigger to boot.

Q: What’s the newest prelude year of motor can i put in my 96′ Honda Civic Hatchback CX?
I have a 1996 Honda Civic Hatchback CX and i’m looking for a good engine swap. Can a Prelude motor fit right in,or do i have to modify(some cutting) my inside hood? And what year of Prelude motor can i swap in? What parts do i need to swap a Prelude motor in?

A: I agree with Mike B. The part he left out is that it will leave about 1.5″ of clearance between the oil pan and the ground. That means if you hit a rock on the road, you’re screwed. But regardless, it is completely possible to fit a h22 in it. Try the engine from an RSX type s. It’s a little smaller and packs a helluva punch.

Q: honda civic parts car?
is a 1990 civic si hatchback a good parts car for a1989 civic dx hatchback will a majority of the partsbe interchangable

A: Yes, ALL BODY Parts are interchangeable,

and MOST mechanical parts are interchangeable,

the Si has the better “choice” parts than the DX.

Q: Which car is better a 1991 Honda Civic Si Hatchback or a 1992-1995 Honda Civic Hatchback ?
Im 17yrs old in new jersey and im looking to buy either or but i want a car good for everyday use and racing. Light and upgradable. I have heard the Si is more upgradable motor wise because no welding has to be done to install motors, what motors are they. The 92-95 hatchback is all good because many parts are made for it. i need help and what are good mods to add to each car and what is the most hp i could get out of each car and how. THANKS!

A: wow, nice answers.

The EF 1988-1991 Civic Si hatchback has 105-108HP non-vtec motor and a close ratio 5-speed tranny. The EG 1992-1995 Civic hatchback come in many models best for out of the box perfromance is Si since it features a close ratio 5-speed unlike the DX,VX,CX.

Stock EF Si and EG Si:
First buy a clean car, no rust or ricer stuff.
SOHC D16A6 EF Si and SOHC D16Z6 Vtec EG si are great motors both can handle boost like a champ 6-8psi on a tune motor and a T3 can make 220-230whp. The D16A6 motor can use a pep’er cam liek the one found in the ZC, Delta cam.com well sell one for under $100 and offer 10-15 more whp. Built bottom ends $1200 and this motors can boost 14psi on 93 octance and C16 race gas on weekends 18psi
Example. My friend delsol si SOHC vtec has rods and piston ran 11.8 123mph in the 1/4 on slicks and prep, image a car that weighs less then that. Cost under $4000 to do everything

Swap:
Any B-serious is bolt on with motor mounts, shift linkage
H-serious and K-serious require you to cut a little.

On cars, EF is OBD-0 and Si is the only multi-point, all EG’s are multi-point which is better for the swaps, all EF’s are multi-point

Q: If I get a good deal on a 1997 Honda Civic, are parts hard to find?
I’m looking at a 1997 honda DX hatchback with 100K miles on it for for three grand – pictures look real clean inside, outside, under the hood…..I’m going to look at it tomorrow….but I was wondering, with a car that old, is it hard to get parts? are they expensive?

A: There’s so many late 90s Civics out there that spare parts are commonplace.

Q: I have a 2000 Honda Civic Hatchback dx and i want to swap my automatic transmission to manual. Wat do i do?
Tell me what do i need to get or do. Or any websites i can get the parts from.

A: you cant its cheaper to just buy the manual version

Q: honda civic hatchback?
i want to ask
what’s the maximum ticket that you guys get from the honda civic hatchback??
b-cause i was thinking to get hinda civic hatchback..
so yeah and what was the worst part of having honda civic hatchback??

A: pros: better gas, light weight, easy repair, stylish, handles great in all weather, low maintenance, easy car to trick out to race, parts are easy to come by, and not too expensive.

cons: #1 stolen car, also makes insurance go up, every cop checks a Honda’s plates, not much room for people, target cars

Thats about all. Good luck

Q: how much would it cost to install a sunroof in a honda civic?
i’ve been looking for a cheap honda civic hatchback with a sunroof… of course i can’t find any with a sunroof so i was thinking about maybe getting one installed if it wasn’t too expensive.. please help.. also i’m located in northers nj. thanks (:
dang haha nevermind

A: An 92′ to 95′ civic si hatchback DOES come with a sunroof. You could probably buy one of these cars for about 2 to $3,000.

Q: where can I find parts for a 1989 honda civic hatchback that are for sale cheap?

A: Salvage yard – especially one that specializews in Hondas like Fatzinger’s.

Q: How would I put upholstery in the rear of my 91 Honda Civic?
I got a 91 Honda Civic hatchback pretty cheap, runs great

It came with front seats but the back is all gutted out, the rear seats have been taken out and the carpet/upholstery was also stripped. There’s a rear swaybar in place, guess the previous owner needed

I’m just curious if it’s possible to take it somewhere to at least get it covered up

A: You could get side panels ls etc. from junkyard, – possibly replace carpeting too (if it comes out usable), — but you might just put carpet over the swaybar, — possibly boxing area, – or making spacer to bring carpet above swaybar if right at floor level! The side panels could them be trimmed to match floor line, and nobody will even give a second look at it!

With a little ingenuity and effort, you could probably do this yourself, and save quite a bit of money over having professional do it!

And you have about 4-5 years before 91 that are very similar or the same, – as the newer model starts in 92! So there should be lots of them around in junkyards, — and possibly you can turn up what you need on Craig’s list or eBay too!

Q: Anyone have a jdm engine for a 92-95 honda civic hatchback that they are willing to sell cheap (like under 800

A: Your best bet is a salvage pool or auto trader, to be that specific and at that price you will probably get a defective title. Not the car just the title making it impossible to re-sell.

Q: Motor upgrades for a 92-95 honda civic hatchback, what motors are good and cheap?
Personally im not gunna race for 1 or 2 years after having the car which is when i will do a k20 motor swap. But for now i want to either leave it stock and just add headers, intake, and an exhaust for a nice sound. If i leave it stock can i add a turbo kit and intercooler and all that and stillll get the sound from the blow off valve or should i just buy a cheap blow off valve to add to the car for the sound of the bov and wait until a motor swap to get the turbo oooooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrrr swap a motor in either b16 or b18 and do headers intake turbo system and exhaust and then wen i go to swap the motor can all those parts work on the new motor.

A: I hope you’re not going to be doing the work. First off, you CANNOT just add a bov to your car. I’m sure you want real high style points but you will not get it. Won’t work. Sorry. You say you want a good motor. Perfect you are buying a Honda. Not a problem. You want it cheap. Perfect the car comes stock with a D series. Upgrade to a z6 head if you want for vtec. If you buy an Si, it comes with a b16. I recommend looking for a hatch with low miles and the D series. I am sure there will be a lot of people here telling you go with a b16/b18. But we all know the b16 is a torqueless monster. The LS would be your best bet if you want to turbo. But honestly you will see more out of the D series on the side for reliability if it’s tuned properly. The stock crank can handle up to 600whp. You will not even need to sleeve the bottom end. Just upgrade to forged internals. Upgrade the fuel system. Get a complete turbo kit off ebay. Take it to your local dyno and have it TUNED. It will be faster than you want to go.

Q: I have a Honda Civic hatchback (obd2) What is the best/cheapest way to get to 250hp?
I was thinking b20, but it looks like I could run into a few problems. any suggestions? I’d rather not use a turbo/supercharger or NOS.

A: if you have a d series engine its gonna be costly and dificult to get 250 hp with it being naturally aspirated. so the fastest cheapest way would be forced air or swap an already built engine into it.

Q: will a s2000 muffler fit in a 1994 honda civic hatchback cx?
so i bought a s2k muffler for really cheap and was wondering if it will fit on my hatch..i know it will need custom hinges but the muffler is pretty big..thanks in advance

A: ya it should fit but ya might have to make some brackets and stuff …….and the inlet might be a little to big but ya can always make it smaller with sum pipe

Q: would honda eg hatchback coilover kit fit in 2002 hyundai accent gsi?
im getting the adjustable coilover kit brand new for MADDD cheap but their made for honda civic hatchback… will they fit? if not what kind of moddifications will i need to make? these two cars are VERY similar underbody and identical engine bays so im hoping suspension is similar

A: Japanese Civic coilovers fit a Korean Hyundai?

im just guessing but no.

due the right thing and buy the coilovers meant for the car to be installed on.

Q: 1993 honda civic hatchback. where can i find part on the internet.?
not ebay. just sites where its cheap to get accessories and body parts best answer gets 10 pionts.

A: If your looking for stock parts there is www.d-a-p.com and carparts.com. Don’t know if your looking for stock or aftermarket parts.

Q: Which would be cheaper to insure generally speaking a Honda Civic coupe or Mazda 3 Hatchback?

A: check with your insurance company because alot depends on YOUR driving history, where youre located…etc.

but in general the mazda will be cheaper because they dont get stolen as often as mazdas.

Q: What is a cheap way to increase power in my Honda?
I have a 94 Honda Civic CX Hatchback. I just put a new used motor in it (another stock motor from a 95) and Id just like to add a little umph to my little car. Any inexpensive ways to do this? Maybe air intake? And what brands should I look into?

A: Just go with some simple bolt on power.

A cold air intake (AEM), headers (DC Sports), and full exhaust (5Zigen, Apexi, HKS, Tanabe) will get your engine breathing better and free up a little more horsepower. Intake manifolds arent all that expensive and can make some difference. I really like my Skunk2 but I guess Edlebrock makes some good ones too.

AEM makes a great pulley set for damn near every Honda ever made. Remove your AC and power steering to relieve parasitic load of the engine. AEM makes adustable cam gears too, that are lighter than stock and can be tuned in the future to make more power. Since stock cam tuning is a little on the conservative side.

Upgrading your fuel system is an option too. AEM also makes an excellent fuel rail, fuel filter, and fuel pressure regulator for Hondas. Walbro makes the best fuel pumps out there in my opinion. If you bolt those on you can turn up the fuel pressure a little bit and feed the engine a little more fuel to make a bit more power.

Spark plugs (Bosch) and wires(MSD) are another inexpensive way to get a little more kick too. A new ignition coil(MSD) and ignition control box (MSD) are always options further down the road as well.

But if you dont care about the engine or you have plans in the future to get another then I would just spray the piss out of it with some nitrous(Zex or Nitrous Express) for some extra zip…for now. But if you plan on holding on to this engine…stay away from nitrous.

You could get an ECU reflash (Hondata) but if your lookin for just some more “umph” I would wait to do this until you start getting into the more extensive mods.

Q: Honda Civic vs. VW Golf/GTI?
I am working on saving up for my first car. I don’t have a ton of money, so I can’t really buy a new car of any kind. What I am looking for in a car is: Good Mileage, good reliability, low cost/difficulty of repairs/mods, and All around lower cost over the next few years. The three cars I am looking at are:

1. 2001-2005 Honda Civic
I would love to get one of these civics, but they are at the higher end of my price range. Ive seen them used from $4000- $8,000. This is at the higher end of what I would like to spend, but I was thinking it may be cheaper in the long run, seeing as repairs can really add up on older cars.

2. 1998-2003 Volkswagon Golf or GTI
These have always been one of my favorite cars. I don’t know much about these at all compared to civics. Ive seen the used from $4000 to $10,000, which seems like a lot. Are VW’s as reliable/easy to repair as Hondas?

3. 1991 Honda Civic Hatchback
Definitely the cheapest option for me, I can easily get one of these in great condition for under $4000. The problem is since they are much older, they will have higher mileage and thus more problems in the long run. I would expect to spend a bit to get a car this old into good running condition, but I’m not sure.

All I am asking is what would be the best/most cost efficent car out of these? I’m my top pick would be the newer Civic, but it will be hard to get the money together for it. The ‘91 Civic Hatch is the most likely car for me to get, but who knows. let me know your opinion.

Q: 2007 ford focus 1.6 duratec hatchback vs 2007 1.4 honda civic si hatchback?

2007 ford focus 1.6 duratec hatchback vs 2007 1.4 honda civic si hatchback?
hello everyone. I am thinking of buying a car and i test drived honda civic and ford focus. I am still troubled about which one to buy. My priorities are reliability, fuel economy and comford.

The honda civic is more economic (1-2litres per 100 km) but does not have cruise control and the ford focus does not have vsa and a sixth gear.

also the ford focus is 1700 euros cheaper. Which one do you recoment?

A: Honda does not make a 1.4 Si. It’s 2.0. The Si will be much faster, much nicer and much more reliable. Although, the duratec motor from Ford is quite lively with a few bolt ons it will still never live up to the reputation of the k20 that Honda produces.

Q: Honda Civic 94 Hatchback ricer question.for racing and tuning!?
Here is the deal i want to buy a Civic which costs around 900$(Northern europe) it has 1.6L SOHC VTEC 123 HP. Now the fun part starts.Firstly i want to upgrade it’s engine.I think the first thing would be to buy a turbo. Here are my questions and i would appreciate the person who would write me a great answer so i could understand, not just a few words.

first Q is wheter the first thing to do is to buy the turbo?

Secondly i really want the engine tuning to be cheap at the start, what are the cheap modifiations that would boost my cars performance?

Thirdly, could you bring up a small list of modifications that is needed at the start to build up?

Please help me..

A: You probably don’t want to add a turbo strait away — the internals on a D16 engine can only handle about 5psi of boost, and even that after a while will wear the engine, you need to upgrade internals first to get the most out of your turbo, so that’s cams, pistons, crankshaft and the engine block itself — as i say they are not a must to installing a turbo — just recommended.

the cheapest mods to begin with are really intake, so a good induction kit, and cold air feed, intake manifold and throttle body. exhaust system would be good aswell — price depends on the type, cat-back, full from manifold etc – but generally from around £100 to anywhere to £450+
getting the ECU performance chipped has a good £:bhp ratio aswell, although if you are going to add a turbo you will have to remap it to run that properly aswell. As well as just performance mods consider the free ones — weight reduction, remove back seats, interior panels etc — it will improve acceleration by bettering the power:weight ratio and improve cornering at the same time.

to start a build up you want to focus on light engine mods, so intake etc, improve brakes and suspension, and then move onto more advanced stuff like *camshafts, *high comp pistons (low comp if you are going turbo) *headers, *sleeving cylinders, *valves, *clutch, *flywheel* crankshaft *rods and turbo, and then map/tune the ECU to run it all properly

if you haven’t got the car yet i would advise getting the VTi with the 160bhp B16A2 engine — they are a better platform of you are going to put serious money in, although a D16 will give you decent performance aswell.

Q: Buy a £550 Honda Civic!?
I have a black M reg 1995 1.4 elec pack Honda Civic hatchback for sale. It has done about 118000 miles, full service history, mot till January 2008. It will be taxed for 6 months.

Good Luck!

Q: which car is better… please help?
so i am getting a new car and my dad and i have been looking at a few for a couple of months trying to decide.
i have narrowed it down to the honda civic, scion tc, and the mazda 3.
i initially love the civic because well civics are amazing… they have been around forever. but the cost is a little on the high side.
i drove all three and loved the mazda 3. my favorite.
but my dad talked to his friend who know his cars. (worked for one company) and said that the mazda is probably the worst out of all the cars. and stuff.
and i inititially ruled out the scion tc because i drove it and ehh.. its okay. i didnt think it was a smooth ride. and since it is a hatchback, the backseats arent that good. (not like i will be using them that much) but i can possibly get a discount on this car through someone we know who works there.
i will be starting college and i need a car that will last. but my dad had this limit he wanted to spend. (and sorry but you cant buy cars that great for the budget he wanted… and he kinda realized that)
so which car is the best for the money? which one would last me longest? which one should i get?
thanks :)

A: Best bang for your money is the Honda Civic. I love my Civic. It’s so reliable and gas mileage is awesome :)

Q: Anybody want to buy honda civic hatchback 99 ??
140,000 miles, red colors, manual $2500 Los Angeles area.

A: yes

I wanna buy a Honda civic hatchback automatic trans, i was just wondering. Could i still make it a good racing car. Can i tune it up to make it (FAST,LOUD,AND FAST). Or does it HAVE to be manual.

Q: can some one help. I want to buy a Honda civic hatchback for less then $2000?
but i want to buy it from a private owner not a dealer or does any one knows a frind or some one that is selling one please help me i really wanna buy one

A: Go through your local classifieds, college ads on campus, local newspapers.etc.

Q: i have just bought 95 honda civic hatchback VTEC and was woundering what motor was in the car cheers?
because i need to buy parts for it.. any help would be much appreciated thanks again

A: look at the front of the engine, left side near the trans and exhaust manifold, the engine code is stamped there. itll be one as described above

Do honda have any plan to launch their Civic Hatchback Type R which they sold in UK?

Q: I’m wanting to buy a 1992 honda civic hatchback vx but need more info before i buy…?
The vehicle is in great condition picture wise… the owner said it has around 30,000 miles on the engine that was bought from japan and just needs a new cold air intake system. Body of vehicle has 160,000 miles on it. I have no knowledge of what a Honda civic hatchback v.x. is or its capabilities. he says it goes 45-55 miles to the gallon and it mite need a new clutch. can anyone tell me how much i should spend on this vehicle, and what should i expect out of the vehicles performance?

A: You also should compare car insurance quotes for cars before buying one, for example here – carinsurance.yoll.net

Q: what is better to buy honda civic 5dr hatchback 1.5lsi or ford escort 1.6 16 v & what is the bhp on them?

A: For reliability and an investiment Honda. No idea what the BHP is but if it’s any help ..remember speed kills.

Q: should i buy this USED Honda Civic Hatchback for 2,700?
i dont know much about cars but this person is selling this car with 150k miles on but it has a rebuilt engine and its a honda, is that a good deal? here are the details
1994 civic hatchbac
150k miles on the body

new tint

this car runs perfect, daily driver
i know salvaged titles are bad,and ithink it means its been in an accident right? but doesnt theft recovery mean like someone stole it and then they found the car and took it back? haha

A: The salvaged title says it all pass on this one.

Q: What’s your thoughts on buying an older Honda Civic Hatchback?
I’m thinking of getting a Honda Civic (Hatchback). I know they stopped making those awhile ago… Is like a 94 or 96 model still a good car to get? I’ll probably be upgrading it alot over time. I love the older hatchback models.

A: It is an excellent car to buy if you are planning on upgrading it over a period of time. It looks great, it is light-weight, and they are very easy to work on.

Excellent choice….now all you have to do is save up your money for a B-series engine swap and your suspension! You’ll be running in the high 14’s in no time!

Q: Is this 98 honda civic cx hatchback a good buy?
http://kamloops.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-cars-Honda-1998-Honda-Civic-cx-Hatchback-W0QQAdIdZ154388057

It will be my first car, i think its a good price and low km’s. It says salvage title but a crack in the ream bumper and a tiny bit of rust doesnt seem like a deal breaker. i like it, anyone have an opinion??

A: it seems to me its a good buy but get a carfax and get it checked out with a mechanic because the car may have been raced and there could be a chance of a worn engine or parts

Q: 1990 Honda Civic hatchback with lose engine mounts?
I am looking into buying a 1990 Honda Civic hatchback and the seller said it needs the engine mounts tightened. I know nothing about cars… is this a big thing? Pricey? What does it do if they are not tightened? The car is only $600, so I want to know if this is worth it.

A: All rubber starts to perish after so many years getting wet, hot and cold doesn’t help matters. My golf’s 96 engine mounts need replacing but only because the shaking gear stick is annoying me.

Going to cost around £150 ($300) to replace them and thats $100 labour. I had all four top suspension mounts replaced. To be honest they didn’t need doing after getting the old ones out, its any rubber that gets wet a lot that needs replacing.

Q: where can i find a online repair manual for a 1988 honda civic hatchback?

A: you can find it here,http://www.hondahookup.com/

Q: 99 Honda civic hatchback si?
OK so I’ve bing looking for a 99 Honda civic hatchback si online and i cant seem to find any.why is this and does anyone out there no where i could find one?
and i tried eBay and craigslist

A: That is because in 99 and 2000, the Civic Si was only made as a coupe. There was no hatchback available.

If you want a Civic Si hatchback, you will have to pick from the following years:
1984-1995 (88-91 generation shared the chassis with the Crx)
2002-2005

There was no production Civic Si from 1996-1998 and 2001.

The 1999-2000 version was only available as a coupe.
The current generation, 2006-today, is available as a coupe or sedan, but not a hatchback.

i’m trying to put in a new stereo but i would like advice from someone with some experience, i’ve searched around online and can’t find anything for the 3 gen civics, i don’t want to break any clips or anything… also if someone knows any websites that have pictures of the disassembly that would be extremely helpful.

Q: suggestions for a body kit for a 1994 honda civic si hatchback?
i have a 1994 honda civic si hatchback and i’m thinking of putting a body kit on it, but don’t know where to start. what places do i look for body kits? are online stores a good idea? what’s a good price for a complete body kit (what’s too high or too low)? about how much should installation cost? is there anything to look out for? does anybody have any bodykit suggestions?

A: well depending on ur car color u can think about adding a carbon fiber lip to it and some simple type r skirts on the sides if they are available but i dont recomend body kits because if u damage them u need to be driving without a bumper for a while and stuff with lips jsut take them off and repair them

Q: 1995 Honda Civic radiator replacement : ATF cooler hoses ???
I am trying to replace the radiator of my 1995 Honda Civic Hatchback DX, auto transmission. There are already some very helpful answers on this subject. However, I have a couple of more-detail questions regarding the 2 hoses that connect the radiator and the ATU (automatic trasmission unit – They are called ‘ATF cooler hoses’ in the Honda service manual) :
1. I can not find to buy these hoses online. Are they special hoses ? What are they usually called ? Where can I find them at ?
2. They connect the ATU and the radiator. So what fluid are they conducting, the ATF or coolant ? If they conduct the ATF, will the ATF leak when I disconnect them ? Do I need to drain the ATF first ? How ?
Many thanks for the kind experts out there who are willing to help the newbies.

A: You can buy replacement hose at any parts house, They convey ATF through a separate portion of the radiator to cool the ATF. When you disconnect them a little will drip out put a catch pan underneath. Don’t forget to check your trans. fluid and top it off when finished. and since you are changing the radiator don’t forget the cap and why not the thermostat too.

Q: How do I replace the stoplight switch in a 1987 Honda Civic?
I was just told that the cause of my brakelights not turning off was a bad brakelight switch. I picked-up a replacement for the switch, but I am clueless on how to replace it. I have found guides online, but none of them for my car. I have a 1988 Honda Civic with automatic transmission and the hatchback body type. Can anyone lend me a hand. Also, if it is possible, provide visuals. I’m not a “car” person, but I follow directions well, so with much details provided, I can replace it easily. Thanks to anyone who can help.

A: If you follow your brake pedal up it is setup oon the arm of the brake pedal. Once you remove it you will see how the new one goes in. They usally only snap in with some circlips or the like. Simple in and out.

Q: Replacing a Honda Civic Serpentine Belt Tensioner.?
Hubby was driving to work and the serpentine belt on his Honda Civic Si 2002 Hatchback came off, luckly he was parking when it happened. This stupid car has been into Honda three times in the past couple of months and each time some other part has to be replace. (AC compressor, water pump) Now this belt comes off, and I find out that this belt is connected to both those parts, honda says to bad for you now pay us more. Anyways my question is how long can the car run without this belt (to get it to a shop without being towed) and is this gonna be costly? I can’t seem to find any prices online for the tensioner (which Honda also replaced), the belt is still intact so that probably doesn’t need to be replaced. Needless to say we are taking it to a different shop than Honda. Does anyone know how many “shop hours” will this take?
we spoke with the manager and we are contacting the better business bureau once we find out the exact problem from another mechanic. Honda is pretty much blaming it on the fact that instead of paying $300 for a water pump from them, we bought one for $100 from Lordco (which is still good quality and has nothing to do with the belt tensioner that im aware of). We have decided not to go back to Honda and if there is serious damage caused by them that they wont fix we will be suing them.

A: umm if Honda just recently replaced the tensioner, id talk to the general manager of the dealership and demand they look at it for free.

Q: Honda Civic 2000 sputters and stalls?
I’m currently having a problem with my Honda Civic DX 2000 Hatchback sputtering and stalling. It pretty much started 2 weeks ago, I remember I almost ran out of gas where the light just came on then, I filled my tank to full. I then drove a few miles and parked and shut off the car. An hour later I started it and it started to sputter and wanted to stall while and actually did a couple times while driving, but it always starts back up. I changed my fuel filter and already went through 3 tanks of gas with fuel cleaner and I’m still having the problem. It mostly does it during a warm start after driving it for awhile and I let it sit for an hour or two and I try to start it (sometimes it has a problem starting at that time) then it starts to sputter and sometimes stalls. I already took it to two mechanics and they couldn’t find the problem or it didn’t sputter/stall for them. What I’m seeing online is it could be maybe a dirty throttle body, ICV or my ECM?. I have after market exhaust, headers and air intake system. This vehicle have no codes showing up. Any suggestions? Thanks!

A: Check your fuel relay (AKA Main Relay), it’s known to cause warm starting issues in civics because it’s not soldered right on the inside and it creates a gap in the connections when it’s warm and the silicon board expands due to heat.

Q: Is there a place online where you can get a car body drawn?
i want a car drawn for me(no bumpers sideskirts ETC.) because i want to draw onto it and add bumpers and stuff to make my future car and if it helps i want a 1994 Honda Civic(hatchback)

A: Try asking at a Honda Dealers,i have searched and found nothing, sorry,.

Q: do you know of this hatchback?
i am looking for a hatchback i particularly like the 95 Honda civic hatchback si due to the rear window general shape size and handling. the Volkswagen gti is not bad either but unfortunately there is not enough trunk space i definitely need at least 2′ 6″ of trunk space, a decent amount of room for the back seat passengers, 2 door only, manual, and is tight on the road i do not want it to be too big any suggestions would be great ive searched everywhere online and cannot find anything that comes up as usefull thank

A: you can use tirerack.com for the rims

Q: front left of car makes ping sound?
i spun out off the road the other day and now im hearing a ping sound when i come out of a left turn. ti sounds like a piece of rubber on the coilover holding back the spring, then when the turn is completed the spring trys to return to normal like the rubber sling shots the spring kind of. but there is nothing in the obstructing the spring. any one know what it might be or know of a place were i can look up online to possibly fix it my self???

Q: HIGH CURRENT ALTERNATOR?????
I need help finding a high current alternator for 1990 Honda Civic Hatchback ,1.5L,4 cylinder…………Where can I order one online that fits this vehicle……..Be specific which alternator ,too please!!!!! I do not care how much it cost ,because money is no problem…….I am look for either a 200 amp alternator or 2-100 amp alternators …….

A: check this web site out i have one from them and works great

Q: Wiring and ecu for vtec?
OK so I have a 95 honda civic hatchback and I’m replacing the old stock motor thats in it (d15b7 non vtec) for a d15b vtec. Now where I’m ordering is the cheapest I can find (I’m very low on money) and the description doesnt say it includes wiring harness for the new motor or ecu. So my question: what should I do about the wiring, I found the stock ecu online for the new motor, but can I use the same wiring from my old motor? remember its going from non vtec to vtec on the same d series motor, both obd 1 i believe, but im not sure what i need to look for to run the electrical considering vtec harness and ecu.
the only reason i decided on the d15b is because its one of the cheapest vtec motors i can find, my money is very low right now.

A: I wouldn’t recommend the D15 motor for a swap. You will want to find a d16z6 it is cheap and you open up alot more options for parts and internals.

The activation of the V-tec can be done with a switch to ground. But there are info forums online you can use to see more details.
