Q: Whats the best Honda to fix up?
So idk much about cars. But I want to get one. Hondas are nice. The thing that i dont get is that whats the difference inthe “ex” or “lx” or “dx”
Which one is better?
Whats the difference?
I saw a 1997 Honda civic ex for sale. about 3,000. only 97k miles. It looks pretty good. Is it worth fixing it up? are they fast? reliable? but yeah. whats the difference in the “ex” “dx” and “lx”?
thanks.

A: Crx Si, the more performance version of the group. They are good cars, very light weight and get phenomenal gas mileage. If you are looking for power, stock they don’t have much but after an engine swap and some performance mods these guys are really quick and fun. Make sure you get a manual, otherwise you look like a pussy… Have fun.

Q: 1994 Integra GSR or 1997 Honda Civic Ex?
Im getting a car soon and I found these two cars for sale. Ive narrowed it down to these two and I need someones opinion on whichones better. Like performance, and the looks of the outside and inside. This is what both the cars have.

Please let me know because this is goin gto be my first car. Thanks.

A: I have been working on and around cars for 12 years now, I am a car/honda guy i’ve owned 3 so far. I would go with the integra, the civic seems to have lots of potential problems. The fact its been wrecked is a big caution sign to me, as well as the use of cheap ebay parts. As far as performance the integra is hands down winner, b18 > d16.
Learn as much as you can about the cars from the owners, get any records or receipts you can see how they drove and took care of the cars. Ask when and how often oil changes have been done. Look at oil if it has metal shards stay away. See if you can have a mechanic look it over most will do so cheaply.
I’d look at the forums online like www.clubsi.com or www.hondatech.com there are lots of people with a lot of knowledge on there about the teg and civic.

Good luck

Q: How many miles is a 97 Civic good for?
There is a 1997 black honda civic coupe (5 speed stick) for sale with a price tag of $5000. It has all new aftermarket parts, but it has 130,000 miles on it, is it worth it? And, how many miles is this car good for?

A: That depends very much on how well maintained it has been. I have seen carefully maintained Civics go well over 200,000 miles; my own ‘85 went to 170,000 with two owners, and an unknown amount with the third.

The presence of aftermarket parts might mean that the previous owner took care of it- or that he or she drove it like a race car. Have an independant mecahnic check it out before you buy it. It might cost you $50, but it could save you thousands.

Q: Tax, Tag, and Title in Fl?
I’m getting a 1997 Honda Civic for $2450. Sales tax in Fl is 7% so I know the tax would be $171.5. How much would the tag and title cost? This will be my first car so I would need a brand new tag not just a transfer.

A: title is 29.95, tag is from 20 up, depends on weight of car and what tag you choose – we have lots of vanity plates available in florida! (no more impact fee)

Q: Should I buy this used car?
My mechanic, whom I’ve known and trusted for years, has a car for sale. It’s a 1997 Honda Civic. I’ve test driven it and it runs great. it has about 116,000 miles on it. I’ve done a Carfax history report on it and nothing showed up. I know that it’s had some work done on the rear because of a past fender-bender. He’s selling it for $4,200 but he went down from $5,200. Is there anything else that I can do to see if this car is legit?
EX:
Besides taking it to another mechanic for a private-inspection.

A: If you trust your mechanic and did your background checks and homework, there shouldn’t be a problem. Make sure he includes at least a 6 month bumper-to-bumper warranty on it. As you’ll probably be going to him for repairs and maintenance, the car should be OK. Check auto websites to make sure the price is about the same for a car like that too. I get a bit nervous buying cars with over 100k miles on them. Things happen you know. Good luck.

Q: DMV asking too much for salex tax on my registration transfer?
I bought a 4-door 1997 Honda Civic LX with almost 209,000 miles for $1500 from a non-dealer here in Massachusetts. Today at the DMV I was shocked when the rep told me the total for registration transfer is $221.25.

I asked her why so high, she told me that the book value of the car is $3125, so $156.25 for the sales tax. That value must be wrong, this car has over 200,000 miles!

If she’s wrong, what can I do to have the total price for the registration transfer lowered?

A: Most states will go by either what you paid for the vehicle, or the book that gives market value, whichever is higher. You don’t have much choice if you want to get it registered. Remember to take if off next years taxes.

Actually I have it at $3,425 with that mileage, so you didn’t do badly.

Q: What is the name of this auto body part?
The car in question is a honda civic 1997 ex coupe, the part in question is the part behind the door, almost like a rear fender, its between the hood and the door on both sides. It hangs over the wheels. I thought it was a rear fender, but i can’t find the part online. I need to replace mine as it had incurred damage.

also if anyone had one for sale. heh. heh.

also. i thhink it reachse around above the window too and it meets the door.

that is the car, the whole piece on the far left. that whole thing. what the fructose is it.

A: I think you talking about a quarter panel.

Q: Is this car worth purchasing for a college student?

Low Miles but a 12 year old car?!
the dealer said he’d include sales tax, registration, license, etc all in the total price. He also told me I can test drive for a few hours and take it to a mechanic. How do I get the dealer to lower the price on the car? It’s OLD I want to pay $4800 for it. I’ve been car searching for SO long and I want a Toyota or Honda Civic.

A: You also should compare car insurance quotes for cars before buying one, for example here – carinsurance.deep-ice.com
