Q: How Long Does A 1993 Honda Civic Last?
I saw this car for sale for $1,150. I suddenly got excited because thats pretty cheap. The problem is the milege is 210,000 miles. I don’t know how long Hondas run. I do know that they are reliable and cheap to fix. Should I just wait for another car?

A: thats alot of miles. but it all depends on if the car was maintained. a car that was well maintained will last forever, ask for records of any major work done on the car. if your not to good with cars ask someone more experienced to take a look with you.

Q: where can i find a cheap F20 motor for my 93 Honda Civic?
i have an 1993 honda civic ex with the stock d16z6 motor and tranny in it but im tired of not having the power and performance i want so im upgrading to an F20 and i want to bulid it up please help me figure out what i will need and where to get it for a resonable price

A: 666777 was partially right on this subject. If your looking to swap in a F20c, or F22c. However If your looking to swap in a F20B then it wouldn’t be any harder than a H22 swap. The H22 and the F20B are pretty much the same motor with few differences. The F20B engine came from the Accord SIR From the european market. They are a front wheel drive platform. Here is a link for a swap kit. Beware they are not cheap!! these engines are great for tuning.

Q: My 1993 Honda Civic has a bad left front bearing. How hard is it to take it out myself??
It is much cheaper to do take the front axel out myself and then have them press it. But I have never taken apart a front wheel drive car before. How hard it it? Any tips about this fix? How do I know when I need to get the wheel bearing fixed asap??
Thanks!

A: Here’s a page from a Repair Guide that shows the procedure, with pictures. Towards the bottom is for ‘88-’95 models. You can click on the pictures to enlarge.

Once they start to get noisy, they can pretty much let go or seize up at any time, so best not to let it go too long. If they get real wobbly, it can also damage other parts.

Q: 93 Honda civic replacement body panels where do i get them?
Hi I have a blue 1993 Honda civic Ex 4 door and almost every single panel on the car is rusted out. I have done the googling but I find mostly stuff for a 2 door and its my back doors that are the worst. any ideas. Oh I am also a broke ass college student so preferably cheap would be good.

A: Ebay or salvage yards……..

A: Swap Info 5th gen 92-95 civic H22a H23a

Trans: All 92- up Prelude 5 speed trans and 92-up Accord trans. Trans with ATTS will require major wiring mods.

Mounts: Hasport mount kit M92- H22-10

ECU: Use ECI that came with the engine with proper mods to wiring. For 96-up engines either back date eletronics and use appropriate OBD1 ECU or use adapter harness and make proper wiring mods.

Electrical Differences: CX and VX need to convert to a 4 wire O2. Non-VTEC models need VTEC solenoid and VTEC pressure. Add EGR solenoid and EGR valve except for VX. All models modify stock harness to fit, add air intake by pass wiring, and add knock sensor.

Axles: Use 90- up Accord Intermediate shaft with 90-93 Integra axles. To use Prelude intermediate shaft a short left hand axle with a female inner joint must be used. To construct the proper left-hand axle use 94 GSR left-hand axle inner and outer joints on an 86-89 Integra axle shaft.

Shift Linkage: These trans use cables instead of linkage. The shifter mechanism and cables from these vehicles may be used, 90-up, Accord 5 speed or 92- up Prelude 5 speed cables and linkage. This will require some cutting and drilling.

Upper radiator hose: 90 Integra LS, trim to fit

Lower radiator hose: 94 Del SOL VTEC

Throttle Cable: 98 Prelude

Clutch Hydraulics: Stock

Special Instructions: THe mounting bracket on the right-hand frame will need to be removed or it will interfere with the shifter assembly. A thin fan or pusher fan will have to be used with radiator. Radiator should be upgraded to a Del SOL VTEC radiator for increased cooling.

Special Considerations: Suspension and brake upgrades a good idea. The H22A is 175 to 185lbs heavier than stock D-series drive trains and 85lbs heavier than a B16A drivetrain.

www.jdmsource.ca this is the best place to get a good motor/trans for cheap with shipping.

Hope this helps your decision!! Good Luck !

Q: What are some types of cheap reliable old cars?
I’m looking to buy an old car around $3000 for my first car. What are some reliable old cars? 1993 honda civic? 1991 mazda mx-3? Anyone that has a good knowledge of cars please help! Thanks!

A: civics, carolla’s, camrys basically the japanese cars are pretty reliable.

Q: Honda engine swap for a civiccc!?
Okay, so I picked up a 1993 Honda Civic LX for SUPER CHEAP, and I wanna go 250hp with it. It has the stock 102 hp motor or the stock 132hp motor, no clue, its a junkyard motor and I want it out of my car.

So what’s some good performance motors for the civics? I know H22A’s are common in prelude swaps, but would that work with the civic? Let me know.

Also – I don’t need your opinions on me buying the car, I just need you opinions on what motor will be best, I don’t need to be told I shouldn’t have bought the car.

Thanks guys!

A: If your going to go with the H22 look up the H2B conversion (B-series tranny on H block) Apparently it makes it a lot easier. I have only swapped in a B16 and it was very easy. I’ve heard swapping an H22 is harder. I would suggest throwing in a B18a or B18b out of an Integra (cheapest option) then turbo it. The H22 will give you quite a bit more power though. Don’t put a K20 in, it’ll end up costing you like $10k.

Q: Suzuki Sidekick 93 + Toyota corrolla or a Honda Civic 02 for a 17 year old new driver?
I need some financial advice.

What would be cheaper? Considering that this car is for a 17 year old.

Option 1:
Buy a 1993 Suzuki- Sidekick 4 door with 100k miles for 1,500
Then buy a Toyota Corolla for 5,000 when that car breaks down.

Consider:
The 17 yrs old is a first time driver which is why I am thinking of getting her a old car so the insurance won’t be too high.
Once the Suzuki breaks down her insurance would have lowered. Estimating that the Suzuki last 2-3 years.
The Corolla that I would buy her after the Suziki dies would be a used maybe around a 2005.

Option 2:
Buy a 2002 Honda Civic- 2 Door w/ 98k miles for 5,500.

Consider:
Insurance would be thought the roof because this would be a somewhat new car, 2 door, for a 17 year old new driver.
My math

[Suzuki Sidekick 1,500] + [Insurance 1,000 * 3(years)] = 4,500

[Toyota Corolla 5,000] + [Insurance 700* 5(years (thinking it would last another 5 yrs b/c it will already have 10 yrs))] = 8,500

13,000

[Civic 5,500] + [Insurance 2,000 * 3 (years)] + [Insurance 700 * 5] = 15,000

Consider:
I am estimating the insurance/ per year and the amount of time the cars will last- they will only be used to go to and from school.

What do you think which Option would save money?

A: You can call up your insurance agent and they can quote you what it would be for each car which might help make your decision easier.

I’m all for you people having to drive older cheap vehicles, unless they have saved up money to buy a car. It’s a big responsibility and they don’t always realize how big it is or the money involved.

But with that, make sure the car is very safe if they get in a wreck. Unfortunately the chances are pretty good and I wouldn’t want to put them in something that isn’t as safe as another option I was considering.

Q: cheap auto insurance in maryland ?

Q: What are the best used cars for under $2,000?
I’m looking into buying a used car in the near future, but my budget will most likely be less than $2,000. I’ve been researching cars on Craigslist, and here are some of the models that I’ve seen for under $2,000 – a lot of these cars have between 125,000 and 150,000 miles on them – and some have about 200,000:

1990-1992 Toyota Celica

1990-1993 Honda Civic

1994-1999 Fort Taurus

1994-2000 Chevrolet Cavalier

1994-1997 Saturn SL

There are also some other models out there, but these are pretty much what I’m looking at. There are a lot of Taurses out there, but I hear their trannies are really bad after 100,000 miles. Currently, I’m leaning toward the Toyota Celica – seems to be a little cheaper than the Honda Civics, but usually with less miles.

At any rate, any feedback and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

A: avoid any car with 200K

you’ll find all of these cars needing repairs or major overhauls in the near future or imediatley.

you better off spending more money say $4,000

for cars like these

98 Acura CL
98 Ford Mustang V6
98 Honda Accord or Civic
98 Nissan Frontier or Pathfinder
98 Subaru Impreza or Legacy
98-00 Toyota Corolla or Echo 00

you’ll save money in the long run

Q: wire harness?
were can i find a cheap engine wire harness for a JDM B16 v-tec for my 1993 honda civic? and the ECU?

A: The cheapest would be from an Auto wrecker, but you would have to do some searching. There are also some wrecking yards online that might be able to help you.
