Q: value of used 1997 honda civic auto transmission?
recently got a rebuilt transmission that has 25000 miles on it cause my civic wouldnt shift into the next gear. I was wondering how much value would it add to my car since its considered a new transmission.

A: Probably nothing. The standard most people use to see what a car is worth is the Kelly Blue Book value. You can see what your car is worth based on series of questions here: http://www.kbb.com/kbb/UsedCars/default.aspx

Q: Where can I go to seek an Air Conditioning installation in my 1997 Honda Civic CX near Denver, CO?
I just bought a used 1997 Honda Civic CX hatchback and it does not have air conditioning. I know this installation is pricey, but I wanted a general idea of price ranges and WHO I can go to/call near Denver, CO to get a/c installed in my vehicle. Thanks in advance!

A: I used to install aftermarket A/C systems for all types of car and trucks in the past but don’t anymore due to (1) the cost and (2) the problems with installing the system in older cars and trucks.

The price will be in the area of around $1200.00 dollars and if you check the internet you will be able to find someone that will install it.

Once you have found someone email me with the price and I will tell you what you need to look for as well as what the installation place will need to look for and talk to you about…..

Q: i have a 1997 honda civic ex, and want to buy a used 2006 honda civic ex?
my 1997 honda runs good, no problems it is salvage though, but good nonetheless, i just want a newer honda…tell me what you think as far as anything goes, like repairs, parts, recalls, stuff like that…

A: The new Civic EX is much more powerful, but not as reliable. Honda has really cut back on their standards. I also don’t like the seats of the new Civic, way too hard for long term traveling. I ended up buying a Corolla simply because of Hondas’ slipping reliability and Honda’s horrible seats.

Q: I own a 1996 Honda Civic can I use parts from 1997 Honda Civic for replacements?
I need a hood and grill for my car but before I buy something I shop around Craigslist, Ebay etc… I found this hood and grill for an excellent price I just need some feedback to know if its going to fit my car.

A: Yes.. same exact car..

Q: 1997 Honda Civic manual transmission – repair, replace or junk?
I have a 97 Honda Civic DX manual shift with just under 140k miles that the transmission is going in. My mechanic has suggested replacing the transmission with a used one over rebuilding (due to costs). I am trying to decide if it is worth putting all this money into a older car. What do you think, I am torn about what to do? Is it time to get rid of it before I have other problems or should I fix it up as best I can?

A: At 140k miles this car is still young, a used transmission is a good idea. Find one from a salvage yard that will give you a replacement warranty, check around some only give like if not work when installed they will exchange, some will give a longer warranty. Ask you mechanic what warranty he can get/give you for the replacement tranny. If wanting to trade remember about having a monthly car payment to make, are/can you afford to do that? If cost is that big of a factor it may be best to keep this car and get the little problems fixed.

Q: My 1997 Honda Civic jerks while accelerating and even while using cruise control, what could this be?
The car drives fine but at times, when I release the accelerator and gently push it again, it jerks. It also does the same thing when the car is in cruise control. I know the car needs an idle sensor…could this be the reason my car is jerking?
It’s a manual transmission

A: could be transmission

Q: Rims for a 2001 Corolla off of a 1997 Honda Civic?
I recently purchased a set of rims off eBay for my 2001 Corolla LE, but found out later they were actually off of a 1997 Civic. Every thing’s the same (14 x 6 rim size, 4 x 100 bolt pattern) except for one slight detail: the center bore is 67.1mm on the rims (my Corolla’s center bore is 54.1mm). Can I still safely use the rims?

A: Yes. The lug nuts will center the wheel on the hub. You just need to make sure that the lug surface of the wheel will accept the lug nut that is on your car. If not you can buy some at the autoparts store that will.

Q: What can i do to upgrade my 1997 Honda Civic EX?
Ok, i just bought a 97 civic as commuter car to go back and fourth to work, but i also have a thing for speed and a nice look. Does anyone has suggestions on performance upgrades? if so can you give me a list and name of product. also im used to driving my large V-8 so id like to know what kind of cars i can expect to outrun in this 1.6 haha thank you

A: If you got a thing for speed your going to want to do a swap. Get rid of the sohc turd engine. I would go for either b18c, or a H22 swap. You will get a little speed and keep the gas mileage. You will spend as much upgrading the turd as you will spend on a good swap kit just to get a little extra hp. You’ll also have room to grow. Good luck

Q: Where is the PCV valve located in a 1997 Honda Civic?
Do I have to use a jack or can I just change it by popping the hood?

A: On top, look for a tube from the valve cover to the air intake. Valve usually located at base of this tube.

Q: My Honda civic 1997 model, auto gear, I have a transmission problem, what will be the cost for repair?
I am looking to get me car repaired with used transmission, so just want to know how much it should cost me, I live in Washington DC. USA

A: A transmission swap will typically cost you between $700-$1000 if you’re using a used transmission.

Having the transmission rebuilt/a new transmission installed will typically double that cost.
